IReapZz Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I'm probably dumb, but after reading through this thread I still cannot figure this out...Just got a new comp and have been trying to download the vidiots etc, and this is what keeps happening no matter what. I'm gonna post basically me walking through each step verifying things are correct to the error.
City Council Michiyo Posted January 11 Author City Council Posted January 11 When exactly do you get the crash?
IReapZz Posted January 11 Posted January 11 After I set C:\Games\Homecoming as the game path, it tells me that "No installed mods were found in the database" and when I hit okay it pops up. If I hit continue, it opens mod installer. If I try to add to the HC launcher, it says to ensure it's closed (which I do) and when I hit okay, it pops again. It also pops up if I try to install any mods, but I assume (maybe incorrectly) it's because I got the error before it even fully opened the modder anyway. I've launched CoH after messing with it (even tried installing the corrupted one, but same error message) and the game runs fine, but no mods are being able to be added. I think I've read through the entire thread and can't figure out what's wrong. It may just be a "me" issue and I'll just have to settle for vanilla lol

IReapZz Posted January 11 Posted January 11 (edited) This is what I found. If this is incorrect, please let me know and I'll correct it. { "autoupdate": true, "dontCheckforData": false, "visualStyle": 0 } Edited January 11 by IReapZz
City Council Michiyo Posted January 11 Author City Council Posted January 11 Yeah... that's right, except the GamePath value is missing somehow... I'm confused how that's even possible. EDIT: OH, I see the issue and will push a fix out ASAP. EDIT2: This should be fixed with the latest update to the mod installer.
IReapZz Posted January 11 Posted January 11 It's working for me now, thank you so much! Sorry if I created a headache for you, but I appreciate your help! 1
City Council Michiyo Posted January 20 Author City Council Posted January 20 Wanted to post here as I've changed how this works a bit. No longer do you need to click "Add to Launcher" if you use the Homecoming Launcher, Modder will automatically add the asset path to all profiles. If you still use Tequila, and you're setting up for the first time... switch to HC Launcher. You can add -assetpath assets\mods still manually if you like. 3
Starhammer Posted January 21 Posted January 21 So, any experienced modders... Anyone think they could create a mod that disables/deanimates/whatever the Longbow helicopter blades? As someone with some photosensitivity health issues, that would be a great QoL improvement for me (especially every time I take a TT to mission 3 of the Yin TF and land on the top of the tail). Hitting the off switch on the Pocket D/Paragon Dance Party type colored spotlights would also be nice. I realize this kind of stuff is outside the area of what usually gets modded, but can't hurt to ask I hope... 1

You might get better results posting this in the feedback forum. The requests you made are a bit niche and while there may be a modder out there that can do it, I wouldn't hold my breath. The HC team, however, has typically been quite receptive to suggestions of this sort when there is some aspect of the game that impacts players like this. 1 Popmenus > Badge List | Optimal Paths | Conversion Possibilities | Emotes Wiki Pages > Costume Color Schemes | Set Bonus Comparison Tables Maps > Vidiotmaps | Optimal Paths | Halloween GM Maps | Winter Gift Maps | Offline Map Viewer Sounds > Banshee Sonic Attack Datasets > Recipe Salvage Components | Badge Name & Settitle ID | Exploration Badge & History Plaque Coordinates

Unfortunately, the biggest problem with asking Devs to fix it is they kinda have to change it for everyone. When they did so with that one Trick Arrow power, that's not such a big deal, because a power effect for that power doesn't *have* to look like it used to. Helicopter blades though, they really look great the way they are, and turning them all off for everyone else doesn't feel like something that should be inflicted on others just because they're troublesome for me. Same with the lights in Pocket D & PDP (and that Skuls mission). They're pretty cool, they look appropriate. They're a viable graphic addition to the setting, and there's not really an alternative way to do them that would work better for me. A client side off switch feels like the only appropriate solution. Anyway, like I said, I don't have high expectations. Just hoping someone reads these (maybe even a dev) who has an idea how that might be done.
captainstar Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Heya. I wanna request other theme songs for all the cities. Like when we pass by and heard that little instrumental songs. Examples: Superman instrumental song for Steel Canyon Batman, from Tim Burton movies, theme for Night Ward The X-Files for Rikti map.... and so on.

I know you can swap out sound files since there are so many sound mods, however, I'm not sure you can ask for a publicly available sound mod using copyrighted music. You could make one for personal use, but I'd still be careful using copyrighted music.
mykey2lyfe Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Is there a way to see when new mods are added, and what are those new mods? I'd be really nice to have a way where I don't need to wade thru the mods I've already considered, but don't use, to try to see IF there are new ones, and which ones are actually new. Maybe even just a column for "upload/update date"?
Dynamo-Joe Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I tried to add a new mod. But I can't see how to add it automatically. The forum link is here:

Dynamo-Joe Posted February 3 Posted February 3 (edited) Thanks! I think I've got it properly uploaded to the Modder now. Edit: Confirmed it works via proper download and install from the Modder in-game. Edited February 3 by Dynamo-Joe
SuperBear Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Is there a way, when opening the CoH Modder, to have it NOT automatically start updating my mods? I manually install my mods. I like to have a way to check in everyone once in a while to see if anyone has created something new. Any suggestions (other than "stop manually installing mods" or "stop using the Modder") would be appreciated. Thanks 😊🙏

It must have been a gremlin at the time. It was auto-updating my "Vidiotmaps for Homecoming" every time I started it, BUT it did not do it this time. Thanks for the quick response.

But I also have this doubt. Any lawyers in the audience?
