Can I see your spreadsheet?

Hi all, I know lots of us use spreadsheets to track various things in the game and I suspect that no 2 are alike! I'd love to see what yours looks like!

 

What have you found to be most useful to track? For me it's probably the 4 passive accolaids. Now, whenever I have a couple free hours that I don't know what to do with, I'll grab a toon that doesn't have Portal Jockey and go get that done.

 

Any surprises present themselves when you gathered the data? I was surprised to discover that almost all my toons have the same 4 day jobs and only a few have significantly more than that. I really thought I had moved those jabronies around more than I did!

 

Any spreadsheet tips from the pros? Mine is pretty rudimentary, it does what I need it to do but there's lots of room for improvement.

Full disclosure, part of the reason I'm posting this is to shamelessly steal your good ideas to incorporate into my own spreadsheet 😁

Yours (visually at least...and probably entirely!) puts mine to shame.  To be fair, mine is the same one I was using 20 years ago in live and I never bothered to updated to current stuff, but still!

 

I mostly just track what I've played (I try not to re-create combos), levels, creation & 50 dates and sometimes incarnate stuff.

 

I color code the grids - orange and red are live chars and purple is HC.  Black means I will never play that combo (pretty much  just empathy because I hate it and the new electric support set because the status prot aura triggers my migraines).

I want to say yours has inspired me to update mine but...I probably won't, visuals are a pretty low priority for me ;).

You asked for advice and the most important piece I have is: update your data.  The most well designed spreadsheet is garbage if you haven't kept it up to date.

 

Also (and this is advice I need to take) don't be afraid to delete fields you no longer care about.  I have a few columns for data I used to track that I no longer use  (like when to farm for Emp merits, on a 10 day timer to max out day job xp, shown as "FarmDay" below).

I have other sheets in the document that provide a little more granular data.  Also several sheets within the doc do some calcs, like a proc calculator.

Yeah, it's very satisfying to me when the conditional formatting for "50" kicks in - I *DO* need to update that so HC 50s get a new color.

Sound advice for sure! My day job sheet is new and last weekend it took forever (really like 8 hours or so over 2 days but still) to log every toon in and gather the data! Now it should be easy to keep up with, I try to update at the end of each play session but sometimes I gotta go eat dinner and I forget.

For someone that doesn't professionally need to use Excel (or just spreadsheets in general) I've put a lot of effort into past sheets. My Borderlands gun spreadsheets were a blast to make lol

I have one for tracking the Accolade Stat boosters for Heroes and Villains. I also track where they are at in their builds and finances. I still need to fill in the columns for Villains in regards to the Accolades yet.

Heh. I only use spreadsheets to calculate %proc rates, and to plan power choices/slotting. The latter is essentially to keep track of slots, global recharge, and for some ATs I also have it track the range of different powers (when I attempt to balance them).

The only thing I track these days is vet levels, and the number of Transcendent, Empyrean and Astral Merits. 

Each account has one character that tends to hold all the hero merits, monstrous aether, prismatics, catalysts, and the incarnate merits and other goodies like hero/winter packs. Because I want to reduce the number of characters I have, it's my intent to run them up to 99, squeezing out the last bit of emps from them before deletion (unless they just weren't much fun at all, and in those cases, the nearest vet level that drops emp merits). Or, unless they're going to be part of my "first page" characters which have new builds or builds that don't need a respec. 
I used to track inf, but since each character carries a billion, now I just count characters and emails.

Since I generally don't care about Badges (other than accolades, which I'll always get before I stop treating a toon as my current "main") most of my sheets are attack chain calculations; typically a "basic" conceptual look at various attack cycles within each powerset; plus a more "detailed" study on whatever catches my attention.






Then once I actually build a particular toon I'll do a much more indepth study and repeatedly tweak it until I'm finally happy with it...




However I grew up using text editors rather than speadsheets for keeping track of simple static lists of things; and that's a habit that I've found hard to break. So most of my support toons have a file or two dedicated to their mitigation and buff values. This is especially true of pet classes as Mids is rubbish at displaying the stats of your summons.





And obviously there are folders upon folders of Mids builds (461 at last count!)

This one tracks basic toon info. I like to know if Hess/Katie Hannon is open and if they've done Market Crash.

 

 

I use this one to figure out what I haven't played yet that I might want to try.

 

This one just has some AT stats

 

 

I have a Market one that tracks influence, winter packs, converters, reward merits, prismatic aether, vanguard merits, and monstrous aether.  I have one where I keep track of Penny Yin WST runs (best was 32 different toons) and Hess WST runs (best was 24 different toons). I have one for contest wins tracking toon, theme, place, and prize.

Sure!  I make self-use Spreadsheets when doing testing, like when I cloned a build using no temps/epics/pool attacks and slotted analogous blasts similarly across both sets, in order to fairly compare Psychic Blast (a set that was recently buffed by the HC dev team) with Seismic Blast (a set that has never been buffed and desperately needs it).  Here it is:
