Adding more D-SYNC Enhancements to the game.

The one I really want the most is Heal/Range this really would have high demand in the medicine power pool for Aid Other

you often want range on this power badly cause its range is so dismal but also want to enhance the heal too. 

 

so it turns you cant enhance aid other for range so yeaaaah dunno why but you cant (ignore that part) 😅

 

furthermore, no IOs Sets currently exist to allow you to get both Healing/Range in one enhancement, meaning this enchainment combo would be filling a very unique purpose and have high demand.

 

I kept the tittle vague on purpose so feel free to suggest other D-SYNC enhancements you feel are missing from the game!

As I understand it, a Hami-o or D-Sync will only enhance the stats that the power will accept. Aid Other doesn't accept range enhancements so you would only gain the benefit of the Heal part of any hypothetical Heal/Range D-Sync.

Aid Other has a range of 25 feet and is set to accept Reduce Interrupt Time, Endurance, Recharge Reduction, and Heal enhancements. That is all you can slot in it to improve it.

so the power with shortest most annoying dismal range can't be enhanced for range, dang that is disappointing just why?

 

well, a heal/range enhancement would still be useful elsewhere RIP Aid Other

I'm not a dev, let alone the dev that designed the power. Best guess though? Because it is supposed to be an 'anyone can use this medical power on anyone else without being a healer' power.

Because it's a power pool power and anyone can take this. Most of the power pool attacks are the same way, just straight up weaker versions of other powers, with flurry being arguably the worst attack power in the game (seriously brawl is better). The idea is that they provide access to powers that you might not have access to normally, they are kinda bad by design to not risk messing with balance,

 

On the note of suggestion, please no, Heal/range would be so incredibly niche that it would only serve to further pollute the reward pool with combos no one really wants.

In the specific case of Heal/Range, it would be better to request a new Healing set that includes a Range-boosting component, because the heal powers can accept healing sets. It would be similar as to how Link Minds can only get Recharge benefits from the sets it can slot, but not from Hami-Os. Heal/Range would still be somewhat niche... I'm not sure I'd even consider it for something that requires an Accuracy check.

yeah if the heal had a accuracy check I would say no, but for healing other with ST heals for sure and some cone heals have lower range the normal so the range would help.

Who doesn't want MOAR SNIPING with Dehydrate!? (which can already take Range boosts, IIRC)

 

I suppose there could be corner cases (for Heal/Range boosting) to be made for other ranged heals like Twilight Grasp or Regrowth (without just slotting Range for those types of powers).

 

As I wrote, such a piece would be niche for me and my builds. I generally like what I can get from existing healing pieces, more range on any given power wouldn't do that much for me. MMV.

 

I'll note this: I think the Medicine pool is overdue for a revisit. It wouldn't be terribly unbalancing IMO to allow its powers to take Range enhancements (directly).

There are a few combinations that are completely untouched  - but could also be argued as niche.

 

It's why I'd like to see - even if there's some build limitation in them (probably rarity and being untradeable outside the account) - some "mix your own" IOs. Let people do that and experiment some.

so dual enhancement should only exist from now on if they are a super meta combo that every build can use? Personally, that sounds like power creep to me which is something the devs want to avoid. if you do want to avoid power creep new dual-purpose enhancements likely need to be niche, they can't fit every build that's the point.

 

we already saw this this threat/recharge/accuracy D-SYNC everyone wants it for the accuracy recharge and now its 300+ million a pop. Do we really want to repeat this and have all builds after the same enhancement driving it up to insane prices? A cheap enhancement that helps only some builds but is not wanted by everyone sounds perfect to me.

Frankly, we could use a couple of new threat sets. I'd like Accuracy/Endurance Reduction and Accuracy/Threat pieces as well... because not every Threat Power is an AutoHit.

speaking as someone sitting on a fat stack of t/r/a D-Syncs, i approve of any suggestion that would drive up their price further including the addition of more combos that only 3 power choices could benefit from.

 

more options is good for build diversity and good for those that want to exploit the increased rarity of "useful" combos. after all: we all already got ours, right?

This is an interesting thought. There may be some pitfalls that I can't think of, but it's super interesting wondering how a given player would design their own specific enhancement.

Heal/Endmod might not be extremely common, but it IS common enough that yeah, there should be an IO for it. I could even see two (that basic high/low level mix) IO sets for it.

Heal/Range is not niche, actually.  It would greatly benefit many.  It's just people don't know/realize they can put range in certain heal/absorb/regen powers, and since slotting is tight, they don't.  But all of these heal/absorb/regen powers can take range and would benefit from such a Heal/Range set: 

  • Cold Domination - Frostwork
  • Dark Miasma - Twilight Grasp
  • Electrical Affinity - Rejuvenating Circuit
  • Electrical Affinity - Insulating Circuit
  • Empathy - Heal Other
  • Empathy - Absorb Pain
  • Empathy - Adrenaline Boost
  • Kinetics - Transfusion
  • Marine Affinity - Soothing Wave
  • Marine Affinity - Barrier Reef
  • Nature - Regrowth
  • Nature - Lifegiving Spores
  • Nature - Rebirth
  • Pain Domination - Soothe
  • Pain Domination - Share Pain
  • Pain Domination - Pain Bringer
  • Poison - Alkaloid
  • Storm Summoning - O2 Boost
  • Thermal Radiation - Cauterize

These are just Def / Corr Sets and there are probably more sets and powers out there that could benefit from a Heal Set with Range in it.  So, this request or need isn't niche.  I would greatly love a Heal set with Range in it.

Accurate Healing perhaps. The oddball things about Accurate Healing choices IMO is that the only level ranges covered are 10-30 and 30-50... in other words: the first set's enhancement bonuses cap out at 30 (+5, if boosted) and the second one offers no set bonuses below 25 (if attuned). There is no shortage of good Healing sets, including a pretty good PVP version.

 

The real deficit IMO is the lack of both Purple and PVP sets for Threat and Fear. The powers that take those sorts of enhancements often can "get by" with only a few slots, which would make them good candidates for boosting and/or franken-slotting. There is also a weird deficit of Accuracy and Endurance Reduction options (in Threat). Fear has some better options (including a couple of Accuracy/Endurance choices), but what Fear lacks IMO is a %proc that can make a single-target Fear useful at higher levels/spawn sizes like the %Contagious Confusion proc can for Confuse powers. Even another %damage piece wouldn't be an outrageous request. In comparison, Holds have no shortage of crazy good %procs of all sort: higher magnitude, Absrob, Damage, blah blah blah fishcakes.

So, you're getting more utility out of the same or fewer slots... That would be power creep.
