MikeSol
I only have 4 / 10 for this badge but I ran the Rikti Mothership raid several more times then that. How do I make sure I get progress for this badge? Where and when does U'kron Gr'ai spawn? I have never seen him at all.
Triumphant
I could only find a reference to him in the Wiki that says he appears in Mothership Raids. You may just have to keep on grinding MSRs until you get the badge. Sorry I haven't got a better answer for you.
Laucianna
He spawns after you plant 3 bombs on the ship, he will appear in the centre of the bowl and your team needs to do 10% of his max health in damage to get kill credit 💛 1 ❤️ Kheldian Guide ❤️ 🎖️ Friday Fashion Contest 🎖️ 🗒️Character Wiki🗒️Friendly reminder that no matter what anyone or anything is saying, you ARE loved AND valued in life no matter what. MikeSol
Thank you Laucianna. That is the explanation I needed. Triumphant, I don't mind grinding MSRs, they are very fast for leveling. I would just like to make sure I am doing everything I can to get the badges associated with them at the same time. 1
Lazarillo
To clarify a point from Laucianna's post, a point of note is that unless HC has changed the credit code fairly recently, it's also worth noting that if you're in the open world, to get credit towards a "kill" of most Giant Monsters (U'kon included), you need to be on a team that did at least 10% of the damage needed to defeat it. Furthermore, being on one of the teams in the League is NOT enough. Leagues don't actually provide any credit sharing. Your character must also be within range for the credit of the defeat (i.e., not coming back from the hospital or the like). This is the most likely explanation for why you would have less credit than runs, as basically any group that does a MSR is fighting U'kon (even if, in the chaos, he can be kind of hard to spot...or outright invisible if there are too many entities around him). Note that the rules are different, to at least some extent, if you join an instanced MSR, although I'm not 100% sure on whether/how they differ with regards to U'kon specifically. Ukase
So, here's a few things I'll share. Because the community is TOO inclusive sometimes, your team might have on it some lower level folks. Nice enough people and all, but the damage they're going to do with the 3 slots they have in those two attacks isn't going to be very much at all, even with buffs. It's these kinds of details that will cost you opportunities for badge credit. There was a time when folks who wanted these badges would form their own MSR, clear pylons, kill the GM, and then quit, and do another instanced version and repeat. While doing that, they would also ensure they had the heavy dps characters on their team, to ensure they got 10% minimum for badge credit. Our MSR leaders today are generally not so mercenary. So, take team reds with you. Super team reds if you have the inf or the inclination to earn them in Dark Astoria. Heck, they may not even work because of the 20 foot radius, but they're better than nothing. If you communicate with your team that you're using them, they can make an effort to get closer to you. You'll want 3-4 of them to reach the damage cap, depending on league buffs. And you might want one of those team dual acc/damage inspirations too, because all the damage in the world doesn't do anything if it misses. That was a tactic I used to employ and it did work for me. Would it have worked without it? Maybe. But I've had many characters with 8/10 bombs clicked, but only 3/10 Ukon Gr'ai kills. So, I just figured I'd cover my bases. Now, I just don't sweat those badges anymore. If I get them, I get them. If I don't, nobody is really going to care. If they do, I can refer them to my main character that has all the badges. (except one winter badge I forgot to log in for - I'll get that in a few weeks, I reckon) Just do MSRs when you feel like it, and eventually, you'll get it. There's something very nice about getting badges organically, doing the content you enjoy without grinding for them.
MikeSol
Ok, the info here is really helpful. For the first time I actually saw him because now I know where and when to look for him. I started attacking him immediately with my strongest attacks and I just hoped that my Team was hitting him as well. I did get credit for this MSR run. 5 /10 now.

Snarky
i have this badge on ZERO characters. my closest is 8 or 9 of 10. the issue is twofold. 1) this is one of the most boring (most of) hour in the game. 2) you don't always get credit for the badge. so just a giant time sink FU from the OG devs. 1
Ukase
7 hours ago, Snarky said: so just a giant time sink FU from the OG devs. Such a colorful way with words, as ever. lol I still think the msrs are a bit...well, routine. But given how many have been done by now, it should be routine. It's not that things can't go badly if you're not prepared with an adequate group. They can. Usually when there aren't enough 50s. Still, if you're not really doing anything else, it's decent way to get a vet level, perhaps. Or if you're below 50, it's a great way to get a fairly good chunk of progress. Myself, if there's no vanguard merits, it's a waste of time. I would just feel bad going there with a character under 35. Not sure why. Some folks have no problems joining at level 1. Just anecdotally, characters of mine that get too much XP too fast...I just don't have that much invested in them, so I don't play them as often. I can add, and confirm something I did not know, or if I knew, I forget. Your teammates clicking on the bombs gives you badge credit. So, I just focus on as many reds as I have until I hit the damage cap.
Triumphant
Snarky might put it a bit more bluntly than I would, but I agree with his general sentiment. It's few minutes of flying from plyon to plyon, knocking each one down in the span of about 3 seconds, then planting the bomb, then standing in the bowl of the mothership for an hour or so, with the entire screen clogged into an unwatchable mess, while you hammer buttons until the timer runs out. I will join them if I'm desperate to grab some levels and can't find anything else. Otherwise, I avoid them like the plague.
Laucianna
If you take the MSR at a Mechanics level yes it's not the most exciting, but nothing is when you look at it just as mechanics imo 💛 Hamidon: Hit your coloured mito, hit Hami, ITF: Kill romans, ITrials: Hit who lead says to hit It's when you allow yourself to embrace the theme of the event that I find enjoyment out of it, flying around a crashed alien mothership destroying it's shield generators, before causing a scene to lure out the big man himself, and once he is down his soldiers will try to avenge him as you hold out in the middle of the ship with up to 47 other super powered beings 💛 This is a MMORPG after all and Role Playing is in the name 😜 ❤️ Kheldian Guide ❤️ 🎖️ Friday Fashion Contest 🎖️ 🗒️Character Wiki🗒️Friendly reminder that no matter what anyone or anything is saying, you ARE loved AND valued in life no matter what. Having so many people going all at once makes it nigh impossible for me to follow conversations and roleplay, particularly, isn't viable for me for that reason. Combine that with the fact that my computer really only handles teams of 8 players or less with any real reliability, and they just aren't any fun for me. 1 hour ago, MikeSol said: Got the bomb badge today. I generally don't care for raids either, but I'll do the Mothership because it's fairly straightforward, and I can just brute force my way through it. A lot of the trials and task forces involve some kind of special strategy you have to follow, and I just find them too confusing and nerve-wracking. I remember the one time I did a Hamidon Raid back on Live...that thing was like a freaking square dance: go to this corner, go to that corner, promenade and do-si-do. I finally just set the team leader to "follow", hovering along and not doing much, because I kept hearing dire warnings that one wrong move could screw the whole thing up. I don't need that kind of stress in my life. 1 --- 64453 - This Was Your Life? - An AE arc that lets you relive your hero's greatest triumphs! (Er, there may still be some bugs in the system...) Hedgefund
I'm not going to write a post in the Suggestion sub-forum but I think this U'Kon badge should be awarded by "hit him and get the badge" rules (like the Croatoa GMs) rather than the 10% rule. If 6 teams in the bowl do exactly the same damage then each team will do 16ish% damage, so the margin is pretty thin to create a low damage team that doesn't meet the 10% threshold.
