Was thinking the same thing when I saw that list.

OP: yes there are maps that are inaccessible to players. There's parameters which can cause a map to be displayed under search or not.

Take me down to the Galaxy City
Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home?
Home

I wanna go, I wanna know
I want you, please, take me home
I wanna see how good it can be
I want you, please, take me home

Just had to change one word 😉

I've not encountered GM Conviction before, at least, not in that guise.  What's their function as a GM?

like i said, i like the fill their pockets when they are AFK with useless stuff, like 70 lvl 5 TOs. i filled @GM_googlymoogly's pockets with 70 +acc TOs and they sent me them back in 70 emails. took me a few days to clear that backlog out! 😁

The Galaxy City map from Pre-Issue 21 still exists and there is a Dev tool to transfer to a map by its index number.

Also, put me down as hating the abuse of a whole City Zone in Issue 21.  I want to see Galaxy City come back!

I would like to see Galaxy come back.  I never really used it….but…..   when you try to run a “completionist blue” you have to weed through all these “here but not here” contacts for Galaxy.  Plus…. Why get rid of content?  Like we have stuff to spare?

Yeah...Galaxy needs to come back. I mean, the last thing Paragon needs is more destroyed zones.

Faultline has been under re-construction for 20 years now, Boomtown is pretty much deserted and abandoned with only token rebuilding going on, Terra Volta...crucial industrial & power...overran and inaccessible to the populace, Crey's Folly is prime industrial left to rot while overran, Dark Astoria...simply written off, The Hollows...overrun despite being the easiest to recover/rebuild, the Rikti zone where the last bits of war still rage on, Croatia...under siege, Perez Park...overrun and abandoned, Siren's Call a war zone, Kallisti Wharf...not sure since I've never seen anything alive there when I visit with my pre-50's toons, Eden...overran and and abandoned, and of course Hami's home. Even the sewers have been abandoned as too infested by danger for Public Works to maintain much less enter...the bad guys just need to plug a few key pipes and the city will drown in its own...well...yeah. ><

Striga is more villain town than Paragon extension given it's the Council HQ so not really counting it.

Leaving only Atlas, Kings, Skyway, Steel Canyon, Talos, Indy Port, Founders, Peregrine, and Bricks with functional living & economic activities despite having criminals running rampant. If the capes and cops are fighting crime...they're doing a good job of losing the war despite winning a few battles.  So 14 conflict/ruined zones vs 9 habitable and functioning zones. Heroes and Public Works need to step up their game! 😉

From a game lore perspective, Galaxy is the most recently destroyed zone.  Unless I've forgotten or missed something, we don't even know just how severe the destruction is, save for the couple of blocks in the tutorial, and that's quite extensive.  Boomtown has the first step towards rebuilding going, and Faultline is farther along.  I'd rather these get the focus for revival first.  It would look odd and suspicious if Galaxy were given the fast track beyond those two and the other destroyed zones like The Hollows.

From a FEMA and Public Works viewpoint (the latter was my day job for a decade though I've been in civil engineering for four decades) if the damage in Galaxy is localized and readily repairable then it would be a priority in order to get folks back to their homes and businesses running ASAP. The Hollows has a lot of still habitable area; just cap the broken mains and services, a bit of rebuilding and dumping the debris into the conveniently huge crater needing filled and building a perimeter wall with guard posts and some dump stations for all the Boomtown debris needing removed. Between the Hollows and Faultline, plenty of holes to fill.  Boomtown is a massive clean up and demolition before any actual meaningful repair work can be done. Faultline has the added fun of not only demolition but also geotechnical stabilization after all the environmental permitting issues are met. Realistically, all those building shored up...only as long as it took to evacuate them, then they'd be demo-charged along with those chunks of broken earth simply per safety regulations. So...realistical short answer would be that; no, it wouldn't really look all that odd or suspicious if it was one of the first things rebuilt.  In terms of Game and Comic trope...given how fast collateral damage from meta battles gets fixed...what the heck is taking these guys so long!? 😉 lol

I have always advocated that Galaxy be brought back as a new hazard zone featuring high end Shivans and other existing enemy shennanigans.  Longbow's main HQ used to be there, so you know there is a metric ton of tech to scavenge (like stated in Faultline).

Spoiler

Considering its destruction was the start of the Battalion story Arc, unless there is an intent for the HC devs to continue that thread without the planned power up and game change and CoH 2.0 stuff.

Then make it a Shivan driven hazard zone, story writing for actual arc missions wouldn't be too complex; hero find this missing super weapon before X, or I seriously need my autographed Jeff Smith baseball from my of apartment in Equinox.  Or there are refugees still trapped in the old Arena that was never used.

IIRC, the final mission of the Shining Stars (blue-side) arc takes place in "Galaxy City". From memory, it is definitely NOT an "instanced" partial map based on the original Galaxy City but a different map.

Talking about Zone changes.

Next up appears to be populating Kallisti Wharf with mobs and other features.  There's also a lot of little Zone fixes going on too.

I'd like to see Galaxy City come back.  And before that, fix up Echo: Galaxy City, at least similar to Echo: Atlas Park with a trainer and a real Arena.

I appreciate the insight!  That said, your short answer seems to be based off the assumption that the damage was localized.   We don't know that for certain, but there are hints in the game that it is pretty much the full zone.  BaBs no longer posted there and the gates sealed, for example.  Still, in counterpoint, we honestly just don't know whether large or small.

I'm all for this, as long as it truly feels like a hazard zone, as in "You're six rungs up the Incarnate ladder.  You'll need a squad." Recently the original hazard zones have just felt like standard zones, and I feel comfortable, if slightly cautious, entering them with an equal-level character.

I start every new toon in Echo: GC! It's a nice small zone. I can street sweep to level 5 very quickly and grab the exploration badges to have a little patrol xp built up before I shoot over to the Hollows. I'd love for it to come back proper but I think it would get changed in some way that I would not enjoy so I'd rather they just leave it alone. It would be nice if they put a trainer in there though!

Ironically, back on live when GC was still regular GC, I always spent my early levels in Atlas and ignored GC. Sorry Galaxy, I didn't know what I had until I lost it...

Piecemeal's level 50 mission that you pick up in RWZ is in the destroyed GC.

@Techwright: That's why I qualified that with an IF it was localized. 😉

@mistagoat: I split my time between Atlas and Galaxy when starting toons. Atlas if I was looking for a PUG and Galaxy if I just felt like solo crunching for a while. Interesting mention about Echo. didn't know that option was there. thnx.

Wow. I used to run a lot of characters through Galaxy City.

I would hunt the lake in Atlas and then go to Galaxy City to hunt the lake there if I didn't start a character in Galaxy City.

I seem to recall that the contacts there had different missions as well, but I wasn't really keeping track.

I didn't even realize that there are like 3 different Origin contacts for each Origin at the various levels until I started digging through the wikis for information for my Origin Quest. I'm not even sure how you get which of the three as they seem to give the same missions ... maybe archetype related?

I remember going to Galaxy City to meet up under one of the statues for the start of Tanker Tuesdays.

I still dream about running around in Galaxy City near that statue from time to time.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
