I remember how Jack claimed he was deep into Greek Mythology but would then pronounce Talos as "Taylos". 🙄

That reminds me of my going full-blown geek after a Malta GM assault on Talos Island and looking up the proper Greek plural for 'Kronos', which is 'Kronoi'.

The plural of 'Χρόνος' is  'Χρόνοι' (2nd person plural in neutral gender is 'Χρόνια'), but if you're using the full designation, the plural of 'Kronos titan' would be 'Kronos titans' -- however, people just shorten it to 'Kronos', hence the Greek plural.

in the official CoV trailer at 0:45, Synapse says “got you man-tee-core, i’m all over it”

I know this is twenty years old now, but it may be the first time I've seen it, and I have questions.

  1. I assume they didn't actually pay for Janes Earl Jones to voice Recluse, and that's just someone doing their best James Earl Jones impression?
  2. Who is that guy in the black and white bike racer outfit supposed to be?  I don't recognize him.

I believe that's the American way of saying it.

Supposedly Lord Recluse's voice was done by Sean Michael Fish AKA Manticore from the original dev team - though whether this is just for the in-game monologue or also for the trailer I don't know for certain. It definitely sounds similar enough, though.

The other guy is Foreshadow. He's got a very different outfit in-game than the one used in the trailer.

The German "Kaiser" is the closest approximation of "Caesar" in other languages, as opposed to the more common "see-zahr", which gets both the "c" and "ae" wrong.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

In this context, Kronos is being used as an English proper noun and title, not a loanword from Greek. Because of this, it should follow English pluralization rules, even when shortened. Thus, "Kronoses" is the correct plural form—just as multiple Zeus Titans would be "Zeuses" rather than "Zēnoi", and multiple Hercules Titans (from the Latinized form) would be "Herculeses" rather than "Herculēs."

English doesn't retroactively apply foreign grammar rules to proper names used in English, and Kronos is no exception.

I hate English and it's my native language. Though it is a fascinating evolution of common trade language.
