Who does Ice the best?

Which AT / Powerset does Ice the best?

I've always thematically loved Ice, but never really seem to love Ice anything on CoH. I think my fav toon was an Ice/Ice blaster - i also played around with an /Ice Melee tanker after the AoE changes, but ive given up on more Ice toons than I can count


What do you guys think?

Think the objective answer here has to be Ice/Cold Corruptor no matter what I personally play.

I can sort of see why - Ice/ is a stop tier blast set, and on corrupter Bilzzard must synergise extremly well with Scourge?

/Cold is also an excellent set overall - benumb, sleet and heatloss really carry the entire powerset 


In all honesty I would probably have guessed the same if someone asked me this question but was wondering if im undervaluing the other Ice powersets  or overlooking something on a particular AT

Threads been solved but I will say that Stalker Ice Melee is the best Ice Melee. One of the few Stalker sets where an AoE isn't sacrificed for Assassins Strike. Instead crappy GIS becomes lovely lovely Assassins Ice Stab thingy. 

 

My Ice / Stone became my favourite Stalker and I'll regularly take them out to murder things.

Ice Melee is in a good spot right now on all ATs, IMO.  I agree that stalkers probably do it best, but Frost on a Tanker is *chef’s kiss*.

Ice/fire/fire Blaster was my first toon ever and I just love Ice blast, so it's closest to my heart.  /Ice Manipulation was "meh" back on live and I just made a toon with it to try here on HC.  I am sure (and hoping) it's better now.  Cold is a wonderful set too, although I prefer it on a Defender.  I haven't tried ice melee yet - it's on my to do list.  

 

But I also have to give a shoutout to Ice Control.  The recent changes with a fear component to the cone and damage added to Ice slick really help.  And the Artic Fog confuse is just great as well.  My Ice/Cold Controller is one of my favorites.  On live I had a Ice/Ice Dom that I enjoyed - I may have to remake that too.

 

So, in answer to the OP - "it depends on what you want to do."  I think all ATs do Ice really well.  You can't go wrong with any Ice set whether you're ranged, melee, damage, support, or control.

I made one of those last year. It is quite good. I took the new Ice Mastery epic and really like Frozen Spear.

Far from solved! (if it even cant be solved) I guess theres everyones favorite, and then the attempt to give the"objectivly best answer" if such a thing exists

I just love hearing everyones thoughs tbh! I've never rolled a stalker for example and love the sound of Ice/Stone youve mentioned

But someone else made refferece to the devs changing Ice/ for Controllers/Doms which i didnt know and now need to look up!

The Ice powersets are probably one of my favorite to play with across all ATs.

 

My Cold/Ice Defender is definitely up there in top tier play. She's kitted out and I routinely lead ITFs with her. 

I also have the Ice/Ninja combo on both Blaster and Stalker. I gotta say this was the first Stalker I ever took to 50 and it was very strong and fun the entire way.

Ice sets are all great. If I had to pick any that aren’t “great” it’d be Sentinel Ice Blast and maybe Sentinel Ice Armor and Ice Control. 
 

But Ice/Cold Corruptor is probably the most in-demand combination in the game right now, Ice or no Ice…
