AK The Bro Posted July 13 Posted July 13 I'm looking for a solid Blaster DPS build that can clear anything in its path and solo the game at 4/8 (Budget is not an issue). Thanks in advance, friends.
Wobegone Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Most blasters can achieve this if you sacrifice damage for survivability. Ice/X would probably be the safest I'd think.. Maybe Ice/Electric or Ice/Energy for some blapper goodness? It'd still be dangerous against mobs who mez. Even with soft capped defense., which is actually easy to do with Scorpion Shield and Winter IOs...but you sacrifice Resistance, Max Hps, Recharge, and Damage Procs.

Ice Storm and Blizzard make 4/8 remarkably safe (for a Blaster anyway). I really, really like Fire as a secondary generally but it pairs very well with Ice. Hot Feet + Burn + one or both rains from Ice give you a ton of soft control for anything left standing after you click Fire Sword Circle. 2

Thanks in advance, friends. oof Could give you a quick cheeky answer OR try to raise awareness on what's being asked in a game with as much varied content and situations as this one is complicated. Ima going with a third option: Trooth If cost is trooly not an issue.. Get good at stocking and using inspirations. Buy Amplifiers at the S.T.A.R.T. Vendor. You'll have Max Damage and Max Protection on demand. AND pick any quick firing Primary: Archery/Energy/Fire/Ice (Fire and Ice being most popular) If you want to fiddle with builds, no problem, we can show you. It can be time consuming. S.T.A.R.T. Vendor Amplifiers Offense Amplifier : +15% Dam, +10% ToHit, +15% Rech Defense Amplifier : +5% Def, +7% DamRes, +Mag4 StatProtect Survival Amplifier : +15% Regen, +20% Recovery, +40% HP Defense Inspirations Luck: +12.5% Defense to all attacks (except typeless) Increases your defense by 12.5% for 60 seconds. Black_Assassin Posted August 15 Posted August 15 I think those builds are questionable at best. Blizzard taken at lvl 49 with 3 damage/recharge HOs? There are so many inefficiencies its hard to say where to begin with them. @Black Assassin - Torchbearer

The disappointing reality for those who level organically is that some of the more interesting builds seen posted are by players who farm to 50, and then began to play the character all kitted out. It always tickles me when I see Hasten or Combat Jumping taken at level 49 in Mids. Like, seriously? No, lol. They're just slapping the powers and the slots in the build. When you'd take those powers is entirely up to whomever is going to try that build.

I never farm and often take Combat Jumping and/or Hasten at 47 or 49. I get to the high 40s and I've already taken everything I want from the primary/secondary/epic pools. I have leftover power picks but not necessarily slots to spare and I'm looking for 1-2 slot powers that plug those holes. Combat Jumping is always useful and can mule a LOTG. I also take it on fliers for additional movement control. I frequently skip Hasten entirely, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything by tacking it on at the end. I find that I take pool powers later in the build since the changes to the levels at which primary/secondary powers can be taken. There used to be gaps at 22, 24 and 30 that no longer exist. There used to be gaps at 22, 24 and 30 that no longer exist. I could never do that. I slot SS at 4 and CJ at 6 on probably 90% of my characters - mainly because with DFB or a posi, or heck, even soloing the hollows, I'm way past those levels to be concerned about my attack chain needing a filler. And, if I exemp with the character to 20, I'll still have CJ and all the nifty stuff I slot in it - like the reactive defenses and lotg. The kismet and Shield wall are level 10, so those would work anyway, but the other two, I want them in a power that's available when I exemp. Of course, below 20, they're not, but other than the positrons, they are. But yeah, I see what you're saying about the "good" powers being available earlier, and if it's a case of taking something like Rage or CJ, I'd take Rage, too.

Black_Assassin Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago It's impossible to accurately jump into the middle of a mob if you don't have CJ. @Black Assassin - Torchbearer
