Thanks for your valuable input. I didn’t think you’d be able to top stuff like “are you ok?” But you managed to do it.

I literally responded to that thread that I was down with a new zone.

That's right! You did respond to that thread! Great job.

But I wonder... if you don't think the criticism applies to your post, why you would defend your post against it. You're allowed to do this, of course.

That actually ins't surprising seeing as that's how long it takes our unpaid dev team to build things out. Unless someone is willing to pay them for this to be their primary job, that's just how long things are gonna take.

So what is the positive from telling people that in a suggestion thread? I would like to see (x) implemented in the game. Ok, if the devs like this idea you can maybe see them act on it in 4-5 years. Wouldn’t it be more enjoyable to have less restrictive and disincentivizing conversations?

I… think I may have entirely misunderstood this thread. I thought I was part of the Idea Police that you want the mods to suppress so badly.

Woulda been nice to know this 10 pages ago 😕

Well now that I know I’m not a problem we can all be friends I’m sure.

I’m considering dispelling this myth that I can only be negative by going through the thread list and finding every acceptable topic I can and replying that “the Idea Police authorizes this proposed change to progress forward into the development phase”. But somehow I don’t think my handler and master Googly will find that sufficiently funny 😔

I'm not a dev, but there are some things you don't seem to understand about the forums, so I'm going to reply to you.

The devs are all unpaid volunteers devoting their free time to working on the game. They still have their jobs and families to deal with. The devs are free to accept any suggestion they want regardless of how any of the rest of us feel about said suggestion. However, there is nothing prohibiting us from either pointing out that the devs having limited time and/or availability to work on a suggestion. There is also no prohibition on anyone stating whether or not that person feels a suggestion is worth a dev's limited time to work on. No one can speak for a dev other than that dev, but that does not mean others are not allowed to take the devs' position into consideration for their replies.

Correct, we are not voting on any suggestion, unless that suggestion includes a poll. However, saying things like "I'm okay with it" or "it's a no" is a declaration of how that poster feels about the suggestion. So if someone says anything like "it's a no"? That is that person stating their opposition to the idea. Which is a perfectly valid way to give an opinion on something. And as the "Concerning this forum" pinned thread says, we don't have to give a reason why we oppose a suggestion.

Everyone is free to post any responses to any suggestions they want as long as they are not attacking the person making the suggestion. Naysayers most definitely have a part in any suggestion discussion. We play the game too. So we get as much say in a suggestion as the person making the suggestion. Just because the person that posts a suggestion really, really, really likes their suggestion does not mean anyone else does. And since those suggestions will impact all of us, we all get a say as response. In the end it is up to the devs to decide what they will or won't work on. And those in favor of and against the suggestion get a voice about everything because again, we all play this game and we all will be affected by what is added to it.

Rudra, while you are in the ballpark, what you missed is the part of constructive criticism. I agree with the poster that the community should be more constructive and come up with ways to make the suggestion good all the way. Unfortunately, it is way too easy to criticize than build.

All that said, there are more arguments in Suggestions and Feedback than in other subforums.  Part of that may be the posters that frequent this subforum, but it's also a function of the reason for the subforum -- someone wants the game to change in some way.

Some folks don't want the game to change at all.  That's a fair position to have.  But the game IS going to change regardless.  New content will be created and changes to existing content happens.

My main problem is when arguments become personal and heated.  Debate the point not each other.  Be excellent to each other!

I also would prefer if a few posters didn't have a back and forth argument and drown out everyone else.  You don't have to respond to every statement made.  But that's just a preference, not a rule.

I just want to say I really enjoy seeing your post in bigger letters, a different font, and bold yellow colors. It makes it stand out nicely.

So we have some evidence that the talking point could be put to rest. You're allowed to continue using it, of course. I understand that it's very important for some of you that we reiterate a few times that you're allowed. You're allowed. It's allowed.

Just because something is pointless doesn't mean you have to quit. It's your time. Have fun!

Who is this "us" that you are speaking for?

  • Haha 1

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

People with no knowledge or insight into the development process. People who don't know what the devs can, can't, will or won't do. People who don't know how those decisions are made. People that don't know that they don't know these things.

There is nothing discentivzing or restrictive about keeping things real. The devs have said they decide if and when they implement any suggestions.

I like to deal in reality and not get people hopes up.

Right, no one agreeing with, disagreeing with a suggestion, suggesting improvements to it, knows. So folks getting up in arms about what people discussing in this part of the forums is funny to me.

As others have said post what you want. If the devs decide to do it good on them. If they don't good on them.
