Ozryk
The people relegating Gravity Control to the middle of the pack haven't played it in ages, if at all. Yes, at earlier points Grav had some downsides, most noticeably that Wormhole's base range was uncomfortably short, with a long animation which would frequently get less well itemized players killed. However, with recent changes, Gravity is S-tier. The impact mechanic turns Lift and Propel into very powerful, fast-recharging blasts with 100% knockdown. This lets a Grav use lots of juggle while maintaining excellent damage output. Wormhole is now a 70 foot range, aggro-free AoE stun which can put up to 16 targets into a spot of your choosing, for orderly AoE disposal. The slightly smaller radius is neatly compensated with the lack of aggro and longer stun duration, and in practice it's the most powerful pulling tool in the game, bar *none*. Finally, the Singularity is the best Controller pet in the game, period. With perfect aerial mobility, a constant repel field, and cycling through Lift, Crush, and Gravity Distortion, this pet helps the Gravity Dom stack more magnitude than any other control Archetype. oedipus_tex
I think all of the Dominator primaries except for Ice Control are very strong. Each of them has significant advantages and disadvantages. Ice Control could use a look by the developers. It requires too much work to try to make the set withstand the pressure its supposed to (playing in melee) with lower payoff than for the other melee sets, or even for all of the sets taken together. WereScrib
I honestly haven't had a problem with a Dark/Savage. I dunno if its Dark enhancing it, but it's given me zero troubles. But my Dark/Savage Dom's only 35. Still, took me through First Ward stuff without trouble.
Tater Todd
Good God....I dunno if I want to spend much time on this post even though it deserves all of it lol. Like Oedipus said everything is solid control wise except for Ice. Electric isn't the best for damage but if slotted well it can Drain AVs dry.

I think I'd swap Ice control and Elec Control. Maybe bump gravity up a little. I would absolutely move Radiation Assault up to B tier, but I agree that it has some issues. In particular, Contaminated doesn't seem very useful without Irradiated Ground to help apply it. I think the set is bound for some tweaking in the future for this reason so D tier feels right for now. If anything ever gets done to turn up the chances of contaminated happening I think It'll be a solid AoE set choice. Out of curiosity, I know Fusion makes your attacks have a 100% chance of applying Contaminated, but does that apply to your Control set as well? Being able to Fusion -> Hold a target and guarantee Contaminated for your Devastating Blow would immediately convince me to go back to my Earth/Rad and respec. oedipus_tex
I may not understand what these rankings represent. I surely don't see Electric Control as low tier (on a Dominator, maybe on a Controller). Is that because Conductive Aura only Dominates the first enemy in the chain? If so, we should remember it's a non-notify confuse that has a huge chance to trigger Contagious Confusion proc on an absurdly favorable cooldown schedule (60 seconds, exclamation point required!) If it could also Dominate you could throw all the other Dominator primaries in the trash. If anything I'd place Mind Control slightly below the rest, but only slightly (different story on a Controller, where Mind is very far behind). No pet and long recharge on the key powers. I'd definitely say Dark is stronger than Mind in most situations. But I can at least see how some people could feel differently. lobster
Hmm. Power, solo, vaguely objective: Primaries: A : Plant A-: Everything else Fun, solo, 100% subjective: A: Everything Else B: Mind (Needs a pet. Maybe make confuse a weak AOE like plant's (or use the 'jumping mechanic'?) and make the l32 a permanent "domination" that makes a non-boss npc a pet) Secondaries: Power: A: Martial, Psi, Fiery B: Earth, Energy, Savage, Icy B-: Dark, Thorns, Rad, (completely playable, but could use minor tweaks, and I agree that Rad needs an identity) C+: Elec Note that on Justin, the secondaries are much closer together. Fun: A: Everything else B: Elec Yes, I love most of the sets, warts and all! Chirikiti
B. Mind (needs a pet).....helllll no. Pets suck. And Mind doesn't need it being way strong. Confuse a weak aoe is also terrible. Everyone leave my power sets alone =p
Waypoint
Since some people asked, I can definitely elaborate on my choices here. Not going to get into the secondary part, just because I feel like that's not very controversial. Again, this is from pure personal experience with these sets. Doms and Controllers are my favorite AT in the game. If there were more secondaries to choose from, I'd most likely exclusively play them. Or if more of the APPs were similar to Psi Mastery (adding some kinda buff). Fire (D- / E+): I don't think the set has a good synergy with any of the secondaries like it does on a controller. The pets die really fast, smoke & bonfire don't benefit from domination. Depending on how you play a Dominator, you might be locking things down in a scatter formation so Hot Feet won't be super beneficial. Electric (C / C- / D+): Jolting chain is incredibly weak, conductive aura is fine but it doesn't seem like a very strong +regen/+recov power. Synaptic overload is a cool contagious power, but I'd rather it was more similar to World of Confusion or hit everything at once. It also doesn't use domination (lack of domination use is a big factor in why I put sets where they are). Overall the damage is very weak and the animations are super long. Shorten the animation times and it'd be fairly strong. Static Field is arguably one of the best powers in a control set. The pets also benefit way more from controller buff sets, similar to fire. Gravity (B- / C+ / C-) This was a controversial one, and I probably should've put it at B instead of C. I love gravity on a controller. The overhaul on it made it much more effective. The pet is the best pet for a control set. On a dominator, I find it a little more clunky. Dimension shift is a good mitigation tool, but there are so many powers that don't benefit from Domination. And if you take those powers and your hard hitting ranged powers from the secondary, you're sacrificing a lot for not many benefits (it's easier to get better recharge with control powers than the actual damage powers like propel/lift). The animations are also kinda long, even if they did speed up propel. Darkness (B): A very good control set. Like oedipus said, it's similar to Mind Control and does more damage. Fearsome Stare is a strong soft hold, same with heart of darkness doing the disorient. Haunt is a great extra damage, and the Umbral Dog does additional CC. It's a contender for one of the better pets for a control set. If Shadow Field wasn't a target location AOE, it'd be A Tier imo. Or if Living Shadows wasn't a cone (I hate cones personally). Ice (B- / C+): This and Gravity should've been together in the same tier. I just made an Ice/Martial build for someone and it was really, really good (maybe credit to martial). With the change to immobilizes now being affected with knock downs, it made the set really strong with damage mitigation. Arctic Air is a PBAOE toggle, so at high level (where exp gain doesn't matter), you have another damage mitigation tool. Jack Frost sucks. The sleep is kinda dumb (every sleep should just be Static Field from elec). Earth (A): The pet sucks. The powers animate very fast. You do -def so you can hit everything, and with Earthquake you can add an Achilles' Heel -res. It has hard mezzes like disorient and holds that are up frequently. If it had one less location AOE, it'd honestly be S Tier. Make quicksand into a drop-at-feet power and it'd be fine based on it's recharge. Mind (S / A+): It doesn't have a pet, which is good. The whole set is control on roids. You get access to basically every type of mez except disorient. Almost everything benefits from domination. Plant (S / A+): You get a buff power (spirit tree), carrion creepers are great, the confuse is a wide cone. Pair it with something high in AOE (like Martial) and you got a great AOE machine. Personal opinion: Give all of the pets some higher base resistance/hp. Gravity's pet is already hands down the best pet in a control set for a reason. If others replicated it, it'd be perfect.
The_Cheeseman
Mind control is flat-out broken with perma-dom. Maybe it feels weak before that, but that's the price one must pay for ultimate power. Mind is already ridiculously good, but I wouldn't be averse to replacing levitate and telekinesis with pretty much anything else. Honestly, though, I'd rather keep the devs' eyes off of Mind Control, to avoid any possible nerfs. Hmm... So... Yeah, Mind is definitely F-tier. Just forget all about it. That's right, let the thoughts just fade away...

Want to change it to "fire at my target" : /macro EQ "powexec_location target Earthquake" Want to change something to a PBAOE : /macro QS "powexec_location self Quicksand" All my controllers use variants of these for quick-dropping of location powers onto a boss / nasty enemy. Tater Todd
Is there a Mind Dominator or Mind Controller farm video out there? I just have never seen a good Mind anything. I know they exist but I need to see it to believe it lol. EDIT: NVM, I found one. That was interesting looking...I guess it's not my cup of tea then. It was nice to finally see mind in action though. Clave Dark 5
It's been way too long since I played a Mind Dom (might have to do something about that...), but the reasoning I've heard voiced in the old days way "it doesn't need a pet, Mass Confusion makes your foes your pet." Seemed like a sensible take at the time, but as I said, it's been ages now. Neogumbercules
No love for fire in this thread but I'm gonna give it a shout out. Flashfire, Cinders, and Bonfire with the KB to KD IO make three good AOE controls and hot feet helps to add damage. Fire/Psi used to be the go-to farming build.
oedipus_tex
Mind Control used to squeak by because it was a set that could solo certain very difficult task forces due to the ability to stack Sleep and Confuse. I don't remember the actual technique anymore. I think it had something to do with confusing AVs even through purple triangles and having them kill each other. I feel that in the current game, at a minimum, the recharge of Mass Confusion should be reduced to somewhere closer to Seeds of Confusion and Synaptic Overload.
