  1. Na, I've had snap-crackle-pop'ing joints since I was 7! >.<
  2. Seconding this as even mod files aren't affected by game updates unless you directly put them overtop of the original files (as opposed to the /data folder). IIRC, Tequila has an installer that may even create registry files (Windows) and is more or less a standard app whereas the HC launcher (that's been around for Quite some time and even had some initial Hoopla) was designed to basically be portable (in Windows at least) in that you could take the whole directory, copy it to say an external drive, and then drop it to another computer with the ability to play it as if nothing happened (give or take hardware changes that affect things like GFX settings). When you install the HC Launcher (see my links), it even Looks for Tequila and asks (?) if you want to copy the files from it to the Launcher's directory (think upgrade).
  3. Got around to watching it (Read: All at once) and while the production value is obviously high, it felt rushed in that it threw a Lot of the Lore at you at once. The Eps felt short TBH and (as expected) it made the series feel truncated. Had I never played the games, then I'd not know the difference, but there's also nothing Too negative to say about it.
  4. Now now, we're not Supposed to be encouraging expenditures 😉
  5. The launcher has been advertised for quite a while and is even part of essentially ALL of the "How to get started" type posts (including the official one of course). Those that have been around for a while (and likely don't lurk much) are probably the ones being hung up on Tequila. Either way, as was mentioned ages ago, the HC Launcher has been the officially pushed thing to use for probably the better part of the last few years about when it was figured out that Tequila lost support.
  6. Heh, I've had...a 'few' versions of the game over time.
  7. Eh, I still have ISOs for DOS 6.22, Win 3.11, MacOS 10x - Current, etc...so there's that 😛
  8. Heh, I came here just to say that about You, BA. 😛
  9. Considering who got this running (and signed), then I'd say yea, it's a false positive. What company runs that AV anyway?!?
  10. I don't 'think' I'd kept the actual files from back then, but I 'did' keep the various screenshots and files I had created to help store my Bios and such, so it was pretty painless to rebuild my old characters from that.
  11. That sounds like a bit of a security risk TBH
  12. 99% of the time it's an overeager AV. Try whitelisting the file before you do the installation as the second it wants to go online (to get the files), then many of these AVs will want to protect by blocking the event. You could even try moving it to the destination folder first (since That folder is definitely going to be something to whitelist) and see if it cooperates better. As always, see if my links help.
  13. Eh, I go by DBaD 😉
  14. It'd be almost a guarantee that if HC made such a claim falsely that NC would likely have at that time brought the banhammer with a tie and receipts. Especially after having hit all the major news outlets.
  15. I imagine that part of the logic is that they may contain aspects of the beta In them that the live server does not and may cause unresolvable code differences.
  16. "why cannot people use words right? Remote bomb... remote?" Why can't people use words right? Why can't people use words correctly? Why don't people use words correctly? /em bored
  17. I don't see this working as it would be Real easy to mess up a bind via the chat function as I could see it mistranslating it TBH. It all comes down to the reserved characters vs characters that are usable in keybinds in my mind.
  18. Check my links for a range of stuff from installation (sans Manga's new method) to file handling.
  19. I knew them mostly for the RvB stuff as well. For that alone, I kinda wish that MSFT would just buy them up or at least host the content. I still need to buy the DVD set.
  20. I think this was originally done with the idea that the average player would have a common set of binds, but most of us (way back then) learned to do things like create folders for characters / ATs / etc so that when you inadvertently reversed the process (guilty) you didn't lose all that work. Same for the UI files (custom arrangement / colors).
  21. Heh, that's on the Top of my old M-series installation guide, but I think your coding may bypass the need to click prompts.
  22. I can't give a link off-hand for previous threads (there are many I'm sure), but even on live I believe this was some sort of database issue that prevented it. There are most definitely discussions both distant and not so distant past covering this that would have some of the reasoning why. Not having 'behind the scenes' info, IDK what steps it would take and if the HC devs could do it without a rewrite of base code.
  23. Yeah, a "gold farming" service on a Free platform would be kinda pointless.
  24. This would be a good reason to restrict it to solo play. Put a warning popup (if you're already on a team) explaining that if you want to proceed, then you'll drop from the team. Make it something you Have to click, but only when teaming.
