I don't think a support/support making the team "too OP" is a big deal. I mean, you could just invite... two corruptors. or one defender and one mastermind. Or some controllers. team would have the same support powers buffing them / debuffing enemies either way. I DO think the fact that this AT would be absolutely HELPLESS on it's own is a heavy strike against it. Yes, I know about Procs. So, maybe you could do a support/support double proc monster. But if that's the only possible way you could defeat anything, it's a pretty sad excuse for an AT. Now, options are still exactly that....options. If it's created, I can just.... not play it. And I wouldn't. So I can't totally say "This must never exist" if other people like the idea. what I find fun is not always what other people find fun. I wouldn't vote AGAINST such an AT. But I sure as hell wouldn't vote FOR it, either.

April 18th Black, White, & Grayscale Costume Contest!
MTeague replied to GM Miss's topic in Events & Contests
hm. I've got a praetorian I'd enter in this but she's lvl 2. Guess there should be time to get to 20 by then as long as I focus this weekend and midweek. -
The mastermind direct attacks are crazy expensive. For this reason, my Beast / Empath is using Kick, Boxing, Crosspunch to go in Kickboxing right alongside her doggos and kittehs. Still have Call Hawk for minimal flight denial and to help build stacks of Pack. My Ninja/Cold mastermind skips all the direct-bow attacks and just uses a 4-Proc Infrigidate, and Arcane Bolt for his "I have End to spare and don't need to cast anything else right now" moments.

Regular Costume. Civilian Clothing / Secret Identity clothes "Heavy Armor" costume. Depending. For a Tech Based hero it's easy to work in a suped-up extra heavy armor suit for when you plan on going toe-to-toe with archvillains ... but I admit find these more difficult to work in for characters that are an unkillable mutant who just heals all damage instantly. "Space" costume. Hey, you might need to go block an impending asteroid, or stop villains aboard a space station or moonbase! it could happen! (at least with AE....). Typically, these would be fully enclosed suits included a helmet, but you might not need that if your character is robotic or inhuman or has Major Mojo Magic, or otherwise does not need an atmosphere to get by. "Dark Side" costume. Maybe you're a hero. But what if you decide it's time the End Justified The Means, and want to stop with this "Arrest" business and just start slaughtering the baddies. Or maybe you go one step beyond vigilantism, and you decide you're sick and tired of Paragon City and the work being helpless and expecting you to do it all, and it's time you started looking out for A#1 for some Roguey profit. Or even beyond that, maybe those foolish imbeciles should just nominate you Emperor For Life so you can Get Things Done. Time for a change of clothes while to reflect that new attitude! "Light Side" costume. Or, maybe you started as a villain but you've been faced with a line you're just not willing to cross and had to take a stand against forces more malevolent than you could take. Or, maybe you didn't have any kind of "moral awakening", but you you have a strict code of honor that if you take a job, you DO the job, and your last job as a bodyguard REALLY pissed off Captain Mako or Ghost Widow or the Big Spider, Mr. Richter himself, so you're chilling in Paragon City for a bit, enjoying an Up-N-Away Burger while you wait for an appropriate time to return to the Rogue Isles. You might want new threads to best blend in and try to at least keep up the appearance of being "redeemed". For now. "Unleashed" / "Incarnate" costume. Or perhaps you checked out the "So, you've Decided to Become an Incarnate" pamphet and now you've got powers bordering on the godlike. Does that old spandex suit and pair of sunglasses really do you justice? Is that trenchcoat really all that when you've become a demigod and held back Elder Horrors in Dark Astoria or beyond? Maybe you want a costume that's using lots of Spectrum, and Celestial Armor pieces, and Celestial Wings to really show what you can be when you decide to drop the pretenses.

As long as we're talking alternative animations, and people who like what they have can keep it a "No Psi Blade" version, I'm on board. I personally like the idea of a Psi Blade. My first thought upon seeing the set named Psionic Melee was "Protoss Zealot". <img src="https://i.ibb.co/hd8B0Dv/Protoss-Zealot.jpg" alt "zealot"> But I wouldn't want to force anyone to change away from a look that they're already happy with. [EDIT: Sigh, I fail at image codes. What am I doing wrong there?]

An idea for a possible Sentinel revamp
MTeague replied to General Idiot's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The devil is in the details, so I'd really want to see how the numbers pan out. But one side benefit to this approach that I do like on the face of it, is I would no longer feel like I absolutely HAVE TO take both my T1 blast and my T2 blast. If I can choose which toggle is active at any given moment, I have more control on power selection. -
I do not use ignore for anything that isn't a bot. Not on forums. Not in game, Not unless it's something liek a goldfarming bot spammer (Which thankfully, I have seen zero of these on Homecoming) I'd rather deal with the rough and tumble of the crowd. Your milage may vary. One size does not fit all.

Hasten: Make it Inherent, or get rid of it?
MTeague replied to Abysmalyxia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
If I was the developers (Which I am not), I would immediately deny any request that starts with "No reasonable person can possibly disagree", on basic principle. [EDIT: and the giant font does it no favors, either.] -
My first 25 characters had no overlap at all. I didn't take Ice Blast if i already had an Ice Armor tank, because I already had an "Ice" character. I went completely different directions as much as possible. My more recent characters, have had to overlap some... I now have an Ice Blast/Dark Armor sentinel as well as an Ice/Ice Tank. But still, separate *powersets* where I could manage it. At 34 characters I ran out of unique combinations, so I now also have a Savage/Regen Brute as well as a Spines/Regen Stalker, both using /Regen. And I have a Ninja/Cold MM and a Ice Control/Cold Controller, both using Cold for their secondary. However, they all have very different costumes, completely different backstories, etc.

I play a Mind/Kin. There's always something I'm supposed to be clicking every time I turn around. 😉

Right now, you can also use Halos with ANY type of head. Standard head? Sure. Hats? Sure Mideval Helmets? Sure. If it's a Detail slot, they may have to code it for each sub-type of headgear. I think make it it's own slot is better, but of course, I do not know the code in question.

I don't know. I very much enjoyed Hardcore Mode in Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, and could not take the "regular" version of either game seriously once I got used to it. I mean, sure. It sucked to stare at the "You Have Died. Your Deeds of Valor Shall Be Long Remembered..." screen for a lvl 84 Paladin in D2, knowing that no matter why you died, even if it was not your fault, just an internet glitch or even a power outage or even a bug in the game, too bad, that was it, that characters is forever dead, no saving throw. But I would never have played D2 or D3 anywhere near as extensively as I did without it. and other Survival type games, like Subnautica, or DIshonored, I very much enjoy with a One-Life-Only mode. But the game needs to be designed around such a mode for it to be viable, I think. Counter-Example. I could never ever play Fallout 4 or similar games with 1 life only. Because the game is freakishly unfair to that concept, there are ambushes where a foe has incredibly good sight and cover and a Fat Man Nuke Launcher. Or rooms with mines galore that are very well hidden. The designers fully INTENDED for you to die multiple times as you play that game. I could only really do a one-life-only playthrough by completely forsaking all character immersion and repeatedly drawing upon knowledge of me-the-player as opposed to what my character "should" know. And that would eliminate the point of even playing that kind of game for me. I think you'd have to re-engineer a LOT of city of heroes to make it viable as a one-life-only game. Now, would I be willing to try it out? Join a premade with one single character with other like minded folks and see how we do? Maybe. It would be very slow levelling and very cautious play compared to any other play anywhere else in the game, and I don't know how much people would really enjoy it.

I'm quite happy with the power as it currently exists. Auto resists to the two most common damage types in the game. If you build up your defenses from sets, then defense plus resists together becomes quite strong. I would not be opposed to a mutually exclusive alternative power being created, or a new tree. But I would not want the existing power taken away from my characters who have it and are happy with it.

Make alternative IO sets to Luck of the Gambler
MTeague replied to nyttyn's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Hover got faster when I wasn't looking. I mean, it's slower than Fly, sure, but I picked it up on a praetorian Grav / FF controller and he'll cross Imperial City with it pretty close to the amount of time it would take him to just run across the zone. I probably missed an update or two late game in Live. -
Make alternative IO sets to Luck of the Gambler
MTeague replied to nyttyn's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm not convinced it would be all that traumatic if they DID make it unique. I mean, there would be many angry posts. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Some ragequits. But while it might make true perma HASTEN much more difficult without team buffs (note: pretty sure perma-Hasten would be still be very achieveable if you do include team buffs....), It would still be very doable to have perma-Domination without it (though, yes, there would be X seconds of cooldown on Hasten and you'd need to keep an eye on it). I'm not really expecting any such changes to happen, of course. But I don't think the world would end. -
Electrical Affinity "seizure" animations on allies
MTeague replied to Keen's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
If animations are outright removed, that might be true. If options are put in place so each player can control what is rendered on THIER screen, without impacting what renders for anyone else, I see no harm in it. That would also be of benefit to anyone with a lower end graphics card whose game struggles in highly populated areas (MSR, Hami, etc) -
I keep telling my brother he needs to make a space battleship when he plays Kerbal Space Program.

I .... clearly do not use your definitions lol. I very much enjoy the combat in CoH. No it's not super duper tactical. There's not tremendous amounts of consequence to using the "right' or "wrong" power at any given moment. But it's stompy arcady fun. And after a long day at work, it makes me smile.

I had the best team on a Posi 1 TF the other day
MTeague replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
Nice! If that was a WoW Heroic Dungeon, there would have been a flurry of people calling each other "Fail" back and forth and blaming it on each other before ragequitting lol.
