  1. Finally took my sonic/dev blaster to 50 the other day maybe I'll play up my axe/ice scrapper next
  2. This is the final answer to almost anything you can't complete or bring more people into. You can max out your def res and damage and even tohit etc at will if it comes down to it. And to add to what Guardia said, you can also mail yourself insp in real time while you fight from another account (which you can mail cash to if you need) and if you reply to a mail you don't need to enter any text so you can drag and send very quickly.
  3. my favourite character to speed with lately is a time/fire blaster He has pff and then whenever he gets where he's going, he can shed his agro cap really quickly to the point that I really miss being a blaster when speeding on any other character or forget to toggle pff off and stand there looking at stuff wondering why the nuke button didn't put them down He was built as a concept though, I didn't build him specifically to speed, he's just really good at it. I speed through mobs just fine on any character with leap and a stealth io with jp temp for course correction, although I prefer leap+ss for fun when I can fit it. Arriving at my destination is what I really care about when deliberately speeding. If I was going to build something specifically to speed I'd probably go fire blaster and then /TA for Gymnastics just for safety or plant because plant...or possibly atomic manipulation. My only /AM blaster so far is my only flying char so he's slow as hell at the best of times but Radioactive Cloud could potentially be super helpful for speeding, for me anyways because like I said, arriving at the objective is what I'd concern myself with.
  4. Lyrics in "instrumental" playlists
  5. "PST with class and powersets" I feel like my tolerance for interviewing for a pug is inversely proportional to my ability to exceed whatever expectations the group leader probably has.
  6. You'll be able to +4 eventually if you want to. Worst case scenario for worrying about the damage of any powerset for an AT that isn't focused on providing damage: You need to proc it up a bit more then some other powersets once you're io'd up And as a tanker you're not as pressed for slots (once you fill invun's holes anyways) I haven't tried every modern tanker powerset yet but it seems to me that the gulf between damage in tanker secondaries pales compared to their gulf in damage between a tankers potential for damage compared to that of the actual damage archetypes anyways so you pretty much have to make your peace with relatively slow kills no matter what
  7. There are going to be times when Gary can't wait for somebody. Now you're either on the Busey or off the Busey. If you're on the Busey and you get left behind, then you'll find him again. If you're off the Busey in the first place - then it won't make a damn
  8. sometimes I have a follow macro on the left alt key and go on some odd journeys when I am windowed and not even trying to control my character Make sure to drag them by a giant monster just in case it's something like that!
  9. you can effectively have more then one autocast power by binding frequently used keys to autocast a power and then exec another file to bind that same key to something else For example Forward.txt: w "+forward$$pow_exec_auto hasten$$bind_load_file_silent c:\dombinds\Forward2.txt" Forward2.txt: w "+forward$$pow_exec_auto Domination$$bind_load_file_silent c:\dombinds\Forward.txt" And then as you press w you will be able to use the key as normal and it will cycle between hasten and domination as you press the keys. What I do is I bind such things to each of the WASD keys, and then I never end up having to even worry about those powers again. You can do this to effectively put multiple powers onto power keypresses too, as an example here are cfgs from one of my characters who uses a spammable nuke on the q key that also swaps to casting voltaic sentinel with the q key: sent.txt: q "powexec_slot 4$$bind_load_file_silent e:\corrbind\sent2.txt" sent2.txt q "powexec_location me Voltaic Sentinel$$bind_load_file_silent e:\corrbind\sent.txt" The downside to this of course is that you might have power animations firing off when you really needed to be doing something else, so that's something to consider when choosing to do this sort've thing. This trade off will probably cost you your life (or somebody else's!) once in awhile but it can be a pretty good quality of life improvement. I especially love doing this for sets with vital buffs that are short duration, such as /shield and /nin's cc buff, and shadow meld
  10. I ignore rude people and people who leave silently like psychos from stuff where they can't be replaced, mostly just so I don't end up bringing a group down by inviting them when I am leading stuff. I always forget about the note system so I usually just take people off it when I encounter them again because I usually won't remember why I ignored them unless they were complete stand-out idiots like one player who had a meltdown on me for something I didn't do, (being a high strung spastic or being stupid are both tolerable situations by themselves to me but both things together is a bit much), and the person who DID cause the wipe surely didn't deserve their tantrum either. Or the guy who kept starting arguments in group because we wouldn't set a late evening Dr Q to +4 (despite only surviving our current settings from our support carrying him on his back) and then I found out he was harassing/threatening people in tells like a freak (including the person carrying him the hardest...seriously), and from the moment I kicked him the group took a turn and was upbeat and being positive/having fun/joking/laughing, instead of being silent and miserable between arguments. I kinda feel like I have to ignore people like this so as to not inflict them upon others. Those people I ignore on all of my accounts, including my mule account which is basically my hard ignore list, and only has a few players. I should really use the note system. I definitely won't ever ignore people for their playstyle or ignorance or my opinions about their skill/strategies in the game and such, all that can be taught/alleviated/worked with or I can just run on ahead to the next group and fight it how I want to. I am totally fine with players/groups who don't always completely overpower everything as efficiently as possible. I've even been in a few groups where I've pulled my own SA procs out to join in on the fun.
  11. I honestly don't want to call out any powerset combos because there are people out there who probably do or could make them work in ways I haven't thought of or can never think up on my own and I'd never want to discourage somebody with my ignorance, but I've got to say, returning from long ago, some of my old workhorse combos are woefully obsolete and I rarely see them anymore. What I find really interesting is that some old standbys are still really popular despite being nerfed so hard that they don't remotely play the way they used to. That's a situation that in my experience anyways is rather unique to COH, I like it, people have their hero ideas and they will make their hero shine as much as they can come hell or high water, which is why I am reluctant to actually name anything specific. I love the fact that there are people still putting work into this game so maybe someday those fading star combos will get their time in the sun once again. Like Fire/dev, that was an old standby, at least in my circles, I returned home to this game and of course rolled up one of my favourite characters and was disappointed in how lackluster it was compared to when I had originally played it on live. And then one day months later I log into him, and he has been buffed and is fun as hell again! In some ways its way even better then it ever was in its heyday on live! My morale is actually pretty high about this kind've stuff in light of all the great work our devs do, personally I won't be mentally writing off any combo for good.
  12. And then after you count it all, you point out that a real flipper would not have inf laying around because it would be invested in bids. And then you NEED to don a top hat and slowly fly away
  13. There are some snotty people on EV for sure who seem to delight in finding pretenses to puff themselves up at the expense of strangers or are just plan old spastic dramaqueens...but such people exist on Ex too. Personally all of my bad encounters on ev have just been about people being petty/seeking to lash out or we've simply missunderstood each other, I've never had any conflicts that have had anything at all to do with RP. Almost all of my chars are comedy based, usually based on some stupid meme or a line from a song or something, I don't rp and I will never bother using (('s when I talk, I have enough vectors for horrible three's-company-esque typos without adding those into the mix. Also I say lol a lot. Mostly because one of my kids demanded that I stop doing so like a decade ago. Everything about me makes a certain type of rp'er eyes twitch a bit. I've run into a few people who grossly misunderstood my intentions in making an animal-type character, but horrible trauma aside, I've never ever encountered any problems related to RP even though my presence is usually at least visually disruptive even if I'm being quiet. I don't join RP groups on purpose and my only concession towards RP is that I don't actively try to step on it when it happens around me, and nobody ever bugs me about it no matter how obnoxious they probably think I am. I think that you just encountered a rare spaz and I bet I know who it was too. Just ignore these rude people, you don't need a thing from them. Also, nobody cares about what they think, they don't represent anybody or matter in any way. I've had them on ignore for a long time and completely forgot they existed until your post. Moving to Excelsior is cool, a change of pace can be great and Excelsior is the most active in my experience, but don't write ev off completely imo. I've run in many groups with you on many of my chars where nobody was anything but pleasant to each other so I know that you know it's not all bad on Ev. At least leave your name behind on a placeholder alt in case you want to come check it out again someday.
  14. Savage/invulnerable stalker My first stalker to 50+, I picked the powers purely to go with a character concept and was surprised with how powerful it is I wasn't even sure what a stalker could accomplish, and as it turns out that answer is everything
  15. A gm posted this message elsewhere: Howdy, everyone! Just letting you know, we are aware of the Manifest issue currently causing problems getting things running. Our server team has been made aware, and will be getting things back in business as soon as possible. In the meanwhile, feel free to poke about on the forums, or chat here in Discord!
  16. Yeah I never said that, you're very wormy and unpleasant to talk to, I think I see exactly why you have problems and you're probably the one causing them. Good luck with that, I'm with your groupmates now, bye.
  17. I do this if I farm, but I don't farm much anymore. I used to do this on hami before the lower zone cap too. But for almost anything else, I like movement powers in this game way too much to be reliably autofollowed. When I did try to duo box for challenging content I had the best results with trap mm, mainly because that allowed me to not spend much time actually duo boxing in real time.
  18. You're really passive-aggressive in this post, if this is how you were talking to people they probably all had you on ignore by the end of the tf, most folks don't want to listen to insufferable posturing and insults when they're trying to enjoy themselves with something as inconsequential as a video game.
  19. I'm not sure how to explain this, in the decades of my playing video games Pre SOE (NGE, the bungling of eq2, the sabotage/neglect of vanguard SOH) the idea of a game not being made properly or having lackluster elements never even occurred to me at all. Before that, I just took things for what they were and if a game didn't directly support modding I never really even considered what could be done differently or improved. It's just the way the game was, I had no perception of it being slow or any expectations for how the game should progress. Also it was basically a super fast quasi-action game compared to some other games like everquest, it could have been far slower and I would not have balked at it at the time. I actually quit this in its first year because I was big into raiding so I went back to a game where we'd spend huge amounts of time dying/ressing/rebuffing to crack new content and it was sooooo much slower then COH even at release. My tolerance was way higher for that kind of thing, and the mmo market was still sparse.
  20. Do not ever use Catalysts on anything but ATO's If you want an attuned (what people are calling catalyzed in this thread) IO, simply buy one from the AH. I have trouble explaining how the AH works, maybe somebody can make a better run at it but basically when an IO is sold to the AH it becomes available for sale at any level that the IO can be used at, including attuned. So to make an IO attuned you would sell it on the AH and buy the same IO in attuned form. The auction fees are much smaller then what you would pay for a catalyst. You will want to save your catalysts, they turn ATO into superior versions and the set bonuses between superior and regular do not work, so you will want to superior all of a set at once.
  21. So one time I was in a group and there was this player who was trying to help me but they were not doing so in the most efficient manner possible so I dropped group, deleted my character, uninstalled this game, formatted my pc, unplugged it, hit it with a sledgehammer, peed on it, then I left it in my house which I promptly burned down. I cleared the ruins with my bare hands and eventually grass grew back so I brought a calf, grazed her to maturity and then slaughtered and butchered her and made a roast beef sandwich that I gave to a stranger. After he ate it I punched him in the mouth, shouted DPS ONLY and hung myself.
