  1. From one of the Discord pins: A series of short instructional gifs https://imgur.com/a/y4X1fbQ
  2. Having not ever used this feature, I'm not really sure, but I think it is automatically affixed the first time you set the passcode. I'm guessing it should show up in the system chat. I believe the number remains the same, though you can change the word anytime with the command /sg_passcode. Someone mentioned that you may need to be in base edit mode to use the command, I've not confirmed that.
  3. I also think the name policy is extremely fair. You do not have to grind your 500 alts to 20 You don't even have to play them to 6 All you have to do is LOG IN. In the end, though, my opinion doesn't really matter, because this is not a democracy. This is someone else's sandbox, and they get to set the rules. I knew this from the beginning, and I accept it. Also, this volunteer sandbox is not guaranteed to last. So I will appreciate the gift as given, and be thankful to play in the City again.
  4. Is that the actual Vidiotmaps, or is it the Walk the Dot maps? I tried an "updated" overlay recently, and it was the Walk the Dot style, not Vidiotmaps. I did not care for it.
  5. You can also get the origin contacts by running the original Outbreak/Breakout tutorials. They will be your contacts when entering your starting zone (at least, they have been for me).
  6. Edit: you have to be in base edit mode to use this slash command. Did not know this... will add note. Thanks.
  7. Good question. I actually haven't tinkered with building below, so not quite sure on that point. My guess is that with room clipping enabled, you should be able to sink things below the floors without filling the sections. Though, you may need to "place" them on the floors like usual before using shift to sink them. That's just a guess, though.
  8. Adding this here... 1. enable room clipping (F3) 2. fill a room section from top to bottom, creating a filled wall/pillar 3. put things on top of the filled section... outside tips: You can place a large surface item on top of the section and put things on it. Filling multiple sections makes for easier building/placing things on top. You can clear the section back down to floors and ceilings after building what you want on top (so you can build inside again) You can move your entrance teleporter to the top You can set the inter-base tp points to go back and forth between inside and outside You can raise and lower items above and below the base... but you have to stay within the horizontal parameters of the actual plot. You will need to use lamps & lights outside, as there is no ambient lighting... OR you can wait for the next patch that will allow you to enable outside ambient lighting.
  9. I don't recall this ever being a thing, but according to Leandro's twitch stream last night, it's "on the list"

  11. Something that a friend told me he was going to do.... TURN OFF xp!! Why? Because he wanted to do the content he'd missed on live by PLing all the time. Cool Beans. He could turn off his xp... run the DFB a few times for the buffs, run a few content mishs, turn xp back on (and off) when he wanted... Brilliant.
  12. I'm not the only one! I thought that was weird. Happened today.
  13. On the flip side, there's no way of knowing what's going on in a person's life that prohibits them from logging in. True... I remember several players taking months (years?) off, and they were always grateful to come back to have access to all their characters. Like coming home. However, how do you address name camping? It's an old problem, for certain. A level 1 character that is just languishing on someone's account as a name holder is obviously not a major investment. I thought that was the secondary layer that they came up with back on live? character had to be low level... but how low? I mean, you can level a char to 17 with 4 runs of DFB now. so....
  14. It's actually old stuff... The origin related arcs were before Habashy/Twinshot/AE/DFB... If you run the original "Outbreak" (hero) or "Breakout" (villie) tutorials instead of Galaxy, you will get those origin contacts in your starting zone. Glad you are enjoying them!
  15. I'm using the same direction keys and have had to stop twice because of nausea. Feels a heck of a lot like motion sickness to me. Ugh. You may want to click on the link in my post (above)...
  16. I'm sure many an RP'er could give you several ideas on how auras are not necessarily power related. Magical creatures don't necessarily "grow into" their auras. I have a Leprechaun who would be incomplete without his rainbow. I've seen "headless" characters... which I believe is accomplished by using auras. Aliens with sparkly skin... or is that vampires?... My point is that auras are just as much a part of costume and character creation as the boots or belts. And again... this is NOT a commercial environment. There is simply no NEED to gate these kinds of things. IF YOU WANT to have a costume/aura progression for your character, YOU CAN do it with the multiple costume slots each character gets. But there is absolutely no need to hogtie everyone else to your preconceived notions on how a character should or should not be attired, presented, or played.
  17. I also have a similarly specc'd ASUS... Have you added the Homecoming executable to your NVidia Graphics control window/panel? (rt clicking on your desktop should bring a popup window with the NVidia option). In the NVidia panel there is a place to add programs that your GForce is supposed to be the default chip to use. Hit "add" and you should be able to browse to the Homecoming executable and add it. Carefully select all your desired graphics options for that executable, including choosing the High Performance NVidia processor. Once all your settings are as you like (the recommended global defaults are what I use), then hit "apply". You may want to re-start your computer to make sure the settings have stuck. This easy fix solved all my lag and crashing issues.
  18. There is also a way to create custom popup menus. Rangle used to use them for Ship Raids and (I think) his MMs. I never used them, myself, but I'm pretty sure there's a guide to making them somewhere out there.
  19. I believe there is a setting under the Graphics & Audio tab in the Options window for "world detail". I think it's one of the sliders, should be relatively easy to find.
  20. You can buy any standard IO from the crafting table. Just hit up a University (Steel Canyon is popular).
  21. I've seen a few folks on Discord ask about this as well. From the answers I've seen, it's not likely.... but ya never know.
  22. No. There never was. Scaling was a running joke, as there are items that are super small, and items that are ridiculously huge. And doorways... don't even get me started lol
  23. Others have helped solve your issue, which has actually been pretty common. I helped one person who had raised the section her entrance was on, completely making her entrance unuseable! I don't remember if the "drag up to fill" was a feature on live, but it's definitely something we have to be easy with now. I do actually like having the object, room, and chat tabs on the edit bar. Since, if you hit one of those popups while moving something, you will be stopped in your tracks! I like being able to hide and unhide them at will. Also... If you are building on top (outside) as well as inside, you will probably want to build your outside first, since you need the filled sections to build on top of. After you've built what you want outside, you can remove the filled sections via the object window and proceed to build inside the base as well. HOWEVER, as Khep has mentioned, if you are going to want different styles inside, you will need to lay out your rooms before you even begin to build outside. And no, not Feral Kat... I have always been Impish Kat, since 2007
  24. Yup. It's intentional because of the "build outside" feature. If you are building on top of the base, and you want people to zone in topside, there needs to be a way to do that. So, yes, the entrance is moveable. Not sure why you would need a GM to move your entrance, unless you accidentally moved it to an inaccessible area, or bound it up in a section (which is still fixable on your own with the "object" window). In short, portals are not broken, except by user error (which is actually understandable, given the new commands and techniques)
  25. Yep... I think it's in the first tab in the options window. It may seem daunting to go through that massive list, but it's in there somewhere. I know it is, because I have mine hidden as well (not a bit fan of excess spam).
