  1. I remember running around in beta as my rad/rad defender, basically spamming neutrino bolt, x-ray beam, and radiant aura, with a rikti ship hanging over AP. When the game did go live, I rolled a dm/regen scrapper - all I basically did was street sweep, and I was nigh-unkillable w/ IH as a toggle. I took a break from the game around 2009, but I also have fond memories of playing an ice/stone tanker. I vaguely recall participating in the old mothership raid with that character, (and the naked Rikti!) Besides that, I came back around 2010 or 2011 when the game went F2P, and recall reading which perks were best to spend the tokens on from the time I had paid for sub time previously.
  2. Maybe just do a "thin feet" option, and treat it as a boot/tights instead of showing skin?
  3. Something like this would better fit Dark Astoria, IMO.
  4. Something like "targetcustomnext alive oil", I'd surmise...
  5. The problem is, liking an idea does not address its feasibility to whether its implementation would fit into the development schedule or resources available. Further, sometimes something being popular is not in the best interest of the game, so that would have to be considered as well...
  6. I think sorcery is your only option, unless you want to rely on one of the origin powers, like taser or apprentice bauble.
  7. If you are able to rely on your teammates to cover your butt in this way, more power to you! I prefer that extra bit of "insurance"...
  8. The elemental order pants actually have metallic trim. You'd have to forego the skirt, but you can kind of work around it, (see below): sidera1.costume sidera2.costume
  9. Would could be interesting is if "team teleport" allowed you to drop a teleport gate at one location and a teleport beacon at another, (or 2 gates), and allowed free travel between those to locations to you and your allies. Another option would be to have the power place a beacon, then it switches to a power that recalls you and your team to that beacon. Yet another idea would be to remove it and add an attack power - basically a single target power that teleports you to a targeted enemy and has you deliver a punch, dealing some smashing and energy damage or something. Still another idea could be where you "warp space" in a small area around yourself, acting sort of like a combination of inertial reduction and speed boost for you and your allies, thereby granting increased jump height and movement speed.
  10. I look at it a bit differently - now my [insert character lacking a self-heal here] can devote those inspiration slots to more "fun" ones, instead of greens, and the reliability/ready availability of aid self means I don't have to ponder whether using an insp to top-off my HP would be a waste or not. Of course, a lot depends upon the build in question, and whether they have enough defense or other resources available to use it mid-combat, (though you do tend to notice DoTs a lot more with this approach).
  11. Maybe ask for assistance in the help & support section, which can be found here?
  12. As a very quick & dirty example, consider the below: "Empathic Will" 1. Heal Aura 2. Mind Over Body 3. Heal Other 4. Indomitable Will 5. Resurrect 6. Restoring Aura - A PBAoE toggle which costs no end, and provides some bonus to recovery to all in range 7. Heightened Awareness - A PBAoE toggle which provides some defense and extra perception to all in range 8. Rallying Cry - A click power which provides status protection, a damage boost, and a tohit buff to all allies in range 9. Strength of Will
  13. I think "Cleric" is too specific. I get wanting a melee support AT, but I would go about it a bit differently. I like combining the armor with the buffs/heals, but I would keep the powers a little more separated. For instance, drop the damage or taunt auras from the armors, and replace them with appropriate heal or buff powers.
  14. Agreed. I'll take a good player behind a "bad AT" over a bad player behind a "good AT", any day!
  15. The game already has some ability to detect if you're flying or jumping, so I wonder how difficult it would be to add a category of "travel power auras", which could satisfy many such desires. A large percent of players take some form of travel power. What this would do is give everybody another free power pick. It may not sound like a lot, but people already tweak their builds to the Nth degree, trying to fit in everything they want. Having to make such sacrifices and finding just the right balance is one of the few really weighty things left in CoH, please don't diminish it further! If the jetpack looked like some arcane artifact or something similarly mystical, why not? Heck, I'm sure some clever mage could use an existing jetpack and modify the fuel source to be some magical crystal or a lesser fire elemental. Hard light constructs! They're not just from power rings anymore!
  16. Here's one I put together, for your consideration: ME concept1.costume
  17. OK, here's a concept I came up with, based upon your original screenshot and your other specifications: pack concept1.costume
  18. I read proposals like this, and what it sounds like to me is "I want a travel power, but I don't want to use up a power pick or pool selection in taking one". There are already ways of getting modes of travel without using up a power pick - park your character in Firebase Zulu, when not playing them, for instance...
  19. It'd be cool, (assuming you weren't directly referring to the movie others mentioned), if said "Bicentennial Man" was some sort of animated bronze statue from the era, in which case an invuln/ss tanker would work...
  20. I wanted to try something akin to a war mace stalker, but since that's not possible, I rolled up a war mace/ninjitsu scrapper. It's a fairly interesting pairing. Not the highest performer by any means, but you get some neat tools and it has a bit of a different feel than other scrappers I have played. EDIT: I do have a Bane Spider VEAT, but it's not quite the feel I wanted, either...
  21. Are you locked-in on any particular aspects of the pic you posted? Is more clothing out of the question? Are the veins and stuff supposed to depict injuries/scars, or just general grime? I'll take a stab at it when I get home later...
  22. For me, it's more about arranging all the power trays, setting up the various attributes I want to monitor, getting the P2W stuff, and testing out the first few powers in AE. I have a "default_binds" file I typically load, but beyond that, it's nearly just "pick up and go". I probably spends more time in the character editor/tailor than the initial play setup, TBH...
  23. Then let me rephrase - your colon cleanse business is on a side road, off another side road, off yet another side road, off that offramp - What relevant sections of Reddit is CoH frequently discussed in, and what is their traffic like? Regardless, all you need do then is to say "Hey, if you like superheroes and videogames, check out CoH:HC - here's their site".
  24. I don't care about their total userbase. I care about the ones that go to sections that may involve CoH. It's like saying your colon cleanse shop will get a lot of business because it's on an offramp...
  25. Is there really this big audience of potential CoH players on reddit, though? I mean, CoH was a niche game when it was live. I'm not hating on CoH one bit, I love the game, but I just can't see that there's this massive untapped audience on reddit, of all places. The forums aren't where you find out about HC - I did a google search when I was feeling nostalgic about CoH a few years ago, and the HC page came up in the search results, so I checked it out. Is CoH being discussed in the comic book sections of Reddit? That's where I think a plug for HC would be best placed, not a separate page/section - and that's my point. Do you like comic books or superheroes? Do you like MMOs, check out forums.homecomingservers.com! It's not about approachability, it's about where you post and how you go about doing it. Are you asking for help, with an understanding that this is an older game, or are you demanding people stop what they are doing and cater to your whims? Have you done an iota of research on CoH and/or checked the various resources already available, or are you coming in blind and making assumptions based upon other games you have played? Even if you have a hot take, you can generally get the help you need, so long as you are willing to take the advice given... That goes both ways, though. If you are "the new guy", then have a little humility and don't expect that everyone will do things the way you want or are used to. "Welcoming" doesn't mean you get a blank check to throw your weight around just because you're new... So why bother conjecturing? Did you say "Here's the link to their support section, I'm sure someone can help you", instead of just guessing? Be part of the solution, if you are so intent on extending beyond the existing site(s), and direct folks to the available resources.
