  1. I would like to see animate stone tweaked a little to be more aggressive, as I seem to have to drag it into enemies to get it to engage them, (though I think this is the case with most non-MM pets)...
  2. It's not about being "upset enough" - it's about having awareness of your team composition and urging/encouraging/mentoring your teammates to leverage that to the fullest.
  3. The assumption from the outset was that YOU are not in a position where your actions/intervention could have made a difference, but some other teammate's could. If you're playing a tanker, and are surrounded by enemies already, you can't really do anything to prevent that surplus aggro from spilling over elsewhere. You can't prevent a teammate from entering an AoE, and you can't apply a mez-protection power to an ally, (let's keep incarnates out of the discussion for now). Let's say you were playing a forcefield defender - obviously you can't really heal allies, (aid other isn't really a full substitute), and if your teammate's keep running off, you can't do much to maintain mez protection on them. Sure, it can be useful to look inward and consider how you can improve, but this entire thread is predicated on your teammates not utilizing powers at their disposal...
  4. Then there's some sort of deficiency or some other component that's missing - remember, my premise is that the person *does* have the key powers in question. That means that had to make the conscious decision to take said power(s). If you chose to take a power, but also choose not to use said power, then something went wrong. I'm not talking about spamming the power nonstop, but I'm not talking about a single oversight in using it, either.
  5. This thread isn't really about when things are going smoothly - it's when things get shaky or you start wiping, and maybe you look at your team composition, and start to think "y'know, if that emp, who has clear mind, had applied it to those blasters over there, they wouldn't have gotten mezzed, leading to said wipe", or maybe you noticed that a controller on your team isn't holding those really nasty enemies, but they aren't doing a lot of buffing, either, yet you notice that they *do* have the requisite powers. You're welcome to ignore your teammates or simply not be aware of who's on your team - that's your prerogative, but what I'm saying/asking is why people don't leverage the abilities that they *do* have, and how to nudge them toward using them in a positive and constructive way...
  6. You could make w toggle on beast run, and s toggle on ninja run, so you can do backward flips and run like a beast forward...
  7. Way to miss the point. Saying something like "hey, if you cast clear mind on that other defender, they could've used their buffs/heals/debuffs to prevent that team wipe" is not nearly the same as "having all the answers", and ignoring powers you do have, (remember, we're not talking about builds here, we're talking about people not using powers they already have), is something that can be easily remedied. Forgetting or neglecting to use powers that are already part of your build is not "a different playstyle". Why do people keep commenting like this? I am NOT talking about builds being bad or good. I am talking about people not using stuff they already have at their disposal...
  8. Well, if you're mezzed and the team wipes because "Johnny Two Toes" couldn't be bothered to use [insert mez protection buff here] on anyone, then maybe chiming in could have been helpful. But that's the crux of the argument, isn't it - finding a way to share your wisdom/experience with others that may not yet possess it - after all, we all had to learn the ropes at some point. I would hope that most players want to improve themselves, and if the advice is actually useful and appropriate to the situation at hand, why not? So what you're saying is you have to use your judgment - it's not like there's always some big sign over a griefer's head pointing them out, and what one person could interpret as such may actually be someone who was PL'd, (thus lacking much real-combat experience), or otherwise didn't realize that there's a better way to go about playing their character...
  9. I've had a good experience with pain domination. While you don't get the recovery or regeneration auras that empathy does, you do get world of pain, which is a damage resist, damage, and tohit buff. With enough recharge, you can even make it permanent. While enforced morale and painbringer won't be of much use to you solo, anguishing cry is a great -def and -res power, to further increase your damage. Soothing aura is a nice HoT power, but overall, you can usually just rely on nullify pain to keep you topped off, if you don't want to run a lot of toggles. Pair it with something like sonic, where you can use siren's song to put groups to sleep, so you only have to face a few enemies attacking you at any given time. Keep a break free in your inspiration tray just in case you get mezzed, and you should be good to go. Later, you can take painbringer and enforced morale, (which are great while teaming), and use them on either a PPP or Incanrate Lore pet...
  10. So I've gotten my AR/Invuln Sentinel up to 50 and into Incarnates. Thus farm, my observations are that the key is to leverage the cones, (buckshot, flamethrower, and full auto), and to leverage M30 w/ a KB->KD as a form of soft control. One big plus for me is that the attacks are very no-nonsense and direct, which I like. I haven't messed around with my other builds yet, but I find that I'm not using incinerator that much due to the longish animation time and preferring up-front damage over its DoT, so may skip it on another build. I've also been using the fire APP on that build, and while the AoE immob, hold, and heal are nice, I think I may branch out into a different APP/PPP to see what's more effective...
  11. The only issues you may encounter are that the demons are kind of a hybrid melee/ranged set, which means that the various "patch" powers you can place down from nature may be tough to place effectively, and nature's heal goes off in the direction you're facing, and won't turn you to face whom you have targeted, so there's a bit of a learning curve there...
  12. Just as long as they aren't on this mother f&%cking plane!
  13. Even the less nice side of Kallisti Wharf has zero crime, so anywhere in that zone...
  14. I create a tab in the lower right for rewards, one just above it for combat info, remove those things from the main chat window, but otherwise pretty much leave them alone. I tend to do a lot more moving around and organizing with my power trays, TBH...
  15. If you, for instance, equate 0 degrees with what the map considers north, then you have that directionality already. Either way, your point is taken...
  16. I wonder if AoEs only accept 3 parameters - point of origin, angle in degrees (so you can get a full circle), and radius. You could get pretty close to a square if you used 2 90 degree cones on a diagonal, but establishing the 2 starting points might be tough...
  17. There has to be some mechanical reason as to why this doesn't exist in game - every AoE, AFAIK, is either a cone or a sphere...
  18. I wouldn't say there is necessarily anything "wrong" with what you stated. The issue is how things pan out in actual play. Sure, having someone in permanent domination mode is great and all, but if and when it isn't up, you've basically got a worse mish-mash of a controller, blaster, and scrapper. All things being equal, I'd rather have a controller or a control-heavy blaster...
  19. But you can't actually see what they look like unless you load the game the start loading up each one - I can just scroll through my character roster and see each one. Trust me, I have a huge costume folder, too...
  20. It's sort of a matter of convenience - by having the character in my roster, (and with 1000 slots per server, there's no big sacrifice in using up a slot), I have a "living model" of a costume I like that I may scroll past as I'm checking characters or deciding whom to play, which in turn could re-inspire me and/or I may revisit as my attitude/interests change over time...
  21. Well, as someone who loves playing with the costume editor, a big part of that is creating a costume that I like, but not having any great investment in the character beyond that. A second component is when I read over a powerset or combination of powersets on an AT, think it sounds good on paper, but in practice, it just doesn't pan out...
  22. You're changing the subject of the thread - it's not about a bad build - it's about people who have their key powers seemingly not using them or otherwise not being aware of what their teammates are doing. I'm not saying you have to always have an eye on everyone's HP/end bars, but if you stick together and see someone struggling, and you have the tools to assist them, then why aren't you? Of course, if any link in that chain of awareness to action is broken, then things fall apart. I've also explicitly talked about trying my best to stay behind the line of "dickishness", while still providing helpful advice. I mean, I get that the game is free to play and that pretty much anyone can do so, but there's also got to be some sort of minimum level of competency, especially in higher level or more difficult content. I suppose it will devolve to either picking and choosing teammates or throwing up my hands in defeat and simply making fully self-sufficient characters and saying to heck with my teammates...
  23. City of Data says they deal negative energy damage. I also checked a few other pets, and none have a resistance to quantum like reverberant does...
  24. I believe it's the special anti-Kheldian damage that Quantum enemies and Void Hunters deal...
  25. I'd start here.
