  1. I decided to go back to some "tried and true" sets that I've had good results with, and rolled myself a grav/dark controller. I present to you, "The Warptaken": warptaken9.costume
  2. I'd start with this thread. Best of all, you can see examples of the various artists' work, so you can better decide who fits the bill...
  3. Probably "mob" or "proc" - I've seen some people use "NPC" to refer to computer-controlled enemies, but in my head, I'm like "any character that isn't a player is an NPC"...
  4. That sounds very similar to the Paradox of Choice in that giving the players everything they ask for could backfire, as now they aren't happy playing what they have, because there are just too many options or they may hold off in hopes of getting their next idea implemented...
  5. The grass will always appear greener on the other side of the fence. People will see how some other server has completely opened up the costume editor, or maybe that they've opened the floodgates to new ATs and different powersets/combinations. The question is whether you want to take the turtle approach, like HC, and roll things out carefully and after much testing and debate, or quickly, hoping the number of bugs or glitches don't mess things up too much, and roll things back as needed. I don't think the sentiment is that strong overall, here, though...
  6. Could you maybe give examples of what you see as the epitome of each character type? I think you'll quickly realize that they are a lot broader in their capabilities than your initial proposal might entail. For instance, here's an example of some X-Men and what archetype I think they best exemplify: Colossus - Tank - probably invulnerability/super strength. He can definitely dish out the damage as well as withstanding it. Wolverine - claws/regen Scrapper, but kind of with the old version of instant healing as a toggle cranked way up. Cyclops - something akin to an energy/martial combat Blaster, (just with all the blasts originating from his eyes). Storm - a storm/elec defender, or perhaps, (if it ever sees the light of day), the proposed wind control set, with a storm summoning secondary. Jean Grey - Mind control/empathy controller, though very few comics really depict easy on-demand healing and resurrection abilities. Nightcrawler - tough one - perhaps a dark or savage melee/super reflexes or ninjitsu stalker, with heavy investment in the teleportation pool.
  7. Can you please expand upon what you mean by this? Are you slotting a bunch of IO enhancements with proc effects into a particular power? Thank you so much!
  8. Here's my attempt: steampunkPA1.costume
  9. IMO, I think the issue the show keeps falling into is the "why don't you just shoot the guy" cliche...
  10. Well, blasters were doing the whole "mix of ranged and melee" long before dominators came around - they just had said attacks split between their primary and secondary. That being said, the blaster secondaries typically do include 1 or more ranged powers as well, (usually an immobilize or other debilitating power). The question is, what kind of powers would make sense to include alongside the broadsword attacks. I was thinking you could make this some sort of warrior or berserker-themed set, with the ranged attacks being things like war- or battlecries, (you could easily adapt various sonic attacks for this purpose). Here's my approach: 1. Intimidating Cry - Ranged attack. Minor psychic damage over time, slows the enemy's movement and attacks speed and imparts a minor tohit debuff. 2. Hack (as per the broadsword power). 3. Parry (as per the broadsword power). 4. Build Up 5. Whirling Sword (as per the broadsword power). 6. Swordmaster - Toggle. +def all, +run & jump speed, immobilize protection, +res slow, +recovery 7. Routing Cry - Ranged cone. Moderate psychic damage. Causes fear and knocks affected enemies down. 8. Column Breaker - Similar to the broadsword power "Slice", only with a wider arc and a 50% chance of knocking the targets back. 9. Headsplitter (as per the broadsword power).
  11. Great costume, but regarding psychic blast - you have far more patience than I. Between the sound and goofy alternate animations, (not a fan of the original ones either), I just cannot get into the set. Regardless, kudos to you!
  12. I've been loving the plant-esque costumes you guys posted recently. Here's my take - "The Daylight Creeper":
  13. I think we could come up with some sort of "slasher" or "swordsman" manipulation set for blasters that uses broadsword attacks...
  14. Not saying it's a perfect alternative, but if you get creative with the other full mask options, you can pull off something very close.
  15. Not out in the open city streets, but perhaps in certain zones/instances/areas, (purely voluntary, and with plenty of warning).
  16. No doubt - we absolutely have the benefit of hindsight at this point. I still wonder what the game would have been like if heroes & villains had always traveled the same streets, only 1 would enter a warehouse to rob it, and the other to thwart said crime...
  17. No. X86 Windows/OSX only. More installation info can be found here.
  18. Something like this could work:
  19. In a sense, I agree - the implementation of CoV did divide the playerbase. A better implementation, IMO, would have been to keep things on one side, but have the villains operate "underground" within Paragon City, with you being able to eventually opt to become a full-fledged villain and leave the city altogether, (much like the vigitlante/rogue implementation).
  20. Still a work in progress. What I can tell you is she's a redside bio/kin tank.
  21. I've been on a bit of a tights kick lately. Here's 2 others I rather like: Operative Rumble and Lashlass:
  22. Based upon feedback and advice from this thread, I ended up creating "Shocicle" as my "fighting controller", (ice/elec):
  23. I would love to see some conditional-use triggers added for costume slots - things like "in combat", "when travel power is active", "when a certain power is used", etc...
  24. Nope. Read your entire post. For someone who claims "This issue is not ruining the game, or even my enjoyment of the game.", you sure seem to be very defensive about the very suggestion you put forth earlier. Here's a free piece of advise - if you aren't in favor of something, either don't mention it as a way of achieving some end, or actually state that you aren't in favor of it and/or frame your statement as something you would never actually want to see implemented.
