A generic thrown weapon set, which can somehow be customized, (even if it's just what is shown in your hand during the animation, with the projectiles being some generic particle effect), would be a better approach to take, IMO. You could then go the dual pistols route and offer players a regular, incendiary (maybe explosive instead) and poison/toxic variants. I'd probably replace the cryo option with a magical one that dealt energy damage and had some other side effect.

Dual SMG Powerset, from Enforcers (Thugs)
biostem replied to Shazbotacus's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I agree, but how would you differentiate dual SMGs from dual pistols? What would be this set's schtick? Would it be all DoT-based? Would there be some set-wide special effect for these attacks? Can you sell me on the set? -
The Absolute Beginners Guide to Writing Descriptions
biostem replied to Crystal Dragon's topic in Guides
I tend to write my character backgrounds as either new heroes or ones fallen from grace/depowered in some way. If you are going to say that your character is super elite, a god/deity, or otherwise some sort of world/universe-class power, then come up with a believable reason why they are of a significantly lower power level in game. Do not write things in your bio that dictate how others should react to them - that is not for you to say. No "your character feels in awe of Jane Doe's beauty" or "you shake in fear at the mere presence of my character". You can say, however, that "Jane Doe seems to emit an otherworldly aura" or some such, as it is up to you *where* said aura originates from, just not how it affects other players' character. One point I'd like clarified, though, is what aspects of a character's ID are actually viewable by others from an in-game perspective; Is someone's name simply able to be gleamed from a cursory "scan" of another hero or villain? Do you start from a position of ignorance and RP to get more specific details? Cheers! -
Dual SMG Powerset, from Enforcers (Thugs)

I mean, they basically have 3 versions of "empty clips" - just shorter or longer animation times to reflect the lower or higher damage... -
I played around in the costume creator and was able to reproduce the look exactly - it's the collar/neck portion of the Carnival of Light top, combined with a full mantle cape, that gives the look of a partial mantle...
-
Do you mean like this one? They do appear to have a cape, though...
-
Absolutely! Not only does it vary depending upon where you are in-game, but the different materials of some pieces also make things look different. Try getting the ascension chest piece to patch the chest pattern underneath it, without using white or a very light color...

The Sniper : a new power based on Beamrifle.
biostem replied to Necate's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I would like to see some alternate animations that basically had you fire off a needle-thin beam of energy, and maybe with more of a liner "draw-in" effect when charging the shot - think like an old Quake railgun shot or such... -

So whilst attempting to create my own anime-inspired hardsuit character, (inspired by @Yellowjacket above), and as I was playing around with various pieces and colors, I ended up instead creating the Steampunk/Nemesis-esque seismic/fire blaster, "Terrarmor": terrarmor4.costume

Great costumes! Kind of reminds me of the Bubblegum Crisis hardsuits or the Southern Cross motorcycle mecha-suit...
-
Simple solution - walk up to enemy mobs, and when they initiate deadly force against you, you are justified in responding in kind.

The Sniper : a new power based on Beamrifle.

Personally, it'd be nice to separate AR into, well, an assault rifle set and a shotgun set, (perhaps leaving the current AR set as the "frankengun" one. -
It's working now...

Since the FF Gen itself is a separate entity that has to follow you, if you go outside of its bubble, (or it gets caught on a piece of terrain and can't keep up), then you will be susceptible to mez effects. It is also targetable and not terribly durable, so it'll often get destroyed. It does have higher base values than the dispersion bubbles to try and compensate somewhat. Similarly, Farraday cage is immobile, so you have to recast it as you move. They have plusses and minuses that you must take into account when selecting and using such powers. Oh! And going back to the topic of "inherent" status protection - dominators get status protection while domination is running/activated...
-
Then please please please, don't come across as so certain in your responses and/or check the Wiki or in-game power descriptions. Cheers!
-
Dispersion Bubble and Sonic Dispersion say hi. Regardless, not every AT that gets an armor set has their status protection power as a toggle, either, (Super Reflexes and Ninjitsu, for example), so you can also include Farraday Cage and Forcefield Generator as well.
-
Do you consider the Sentinel an EAT? No AT has "inherent" mez protection - all require taking a power. If you mean that, then several defender/corruptor/controller/MM sets *do* include a power granting status protection, (FF, sonic, traps, etc)...

If we're going with assault and pet sets, I'd do this: Primary: Assault (leave the power selection as-is). Secondary: Pets (with the below changes): Class passive ability: "Target designation" or "Designated target", which applies a short-lived, stacking damage resist and defense debuff to any enemy you attack with your primary powers. 1. Basic armor toggle 2. Tier-1 pet summon 3. Status protection toggle 4. First pet upgrade power 5. PBAoE aura toggle (with taunt aura and one or more of: debuff(s), self buffs, or some DoT component) 6. Tier-2 pet summon 7. Utility power (same as the original pet set) *I was debating replacing this with some sort of special self & pet buff power 8. Tier-3 pet summon 9. Second pet upgrade power

Love this one! I just wish we could apply a separate color to the buckle on that chest strap...
