  1. It is that amount however the Destiny abilities have a reduced potency over time. Instead of typing it out I'm lazy and ripped this off from a reddit post: "Barrier core epiphany has a 57.50% defense and resistance buff that lasts for 10 seconds, 25% defense and resistance for 30 seconds, 2.5% defense and resistance for 60 seconds, and 5% defense and ressitance for 120 seconds. Those buffs do stack, so for example the first 10 seconds you have a cumulative buff of 90% defense and resistance, then for the first 30 seconds you have 32.5% defense and resistance and so on. You only get 5% for the entire duration of epiphany, but that bonus is up permanently up minus the cast time for barrier. If you open up the incarnate abilities menu at the top of your powers tab you can right click the different incarnate abilities under create and look at the detailed info. All of the destiny abilities are well described in how they function but some of the other categories aren't as clear." So basically while the amount seems (and is) crazy high, it's not nearly that powerful for the entire duration. Hope this answers it. 🙂 Edited to add: By my very nature I am suspect of everything on reddit so I logged into one of mine and confirmed in game numbers match what was posted: Something interesting... This indicates that the Defense portion only lasts for the first 10 seconds and the Resistance portion continues the entire duration. ... Okay I just fired it off in game and watched defense and it is also scaling down slowly like resistance, even though the in game description window kind of indicates it does not. Regardless, I think of it as an emergency button type ability that basically makes you awesome for 10 seconds, then great for 30 seconds and then it sort of just slowly creeps down over time.
  2. I don't expect it to happen, but I would be a very happy camper if they released i27 server/client. Not very likely to happen though due to, well you know... 😞 As for @borgking001a, yes you can get everything (including instructions) from OuroDev but you will either be setting up a server with i25/i26 code (and client) or the OuroDev folks have their own branch they continue to develop independent of HC so you would be playing a slightly different game in some aspects but still CoX. In addition to being able to get everything you need and set it up completely from scratch yourself the Ouro folks also have some premade virtual machines that can be setup more easily. I use the term 'easily' kind of loosely here - it can still be a pain even with the vm's especially if you are new to VMware or Hyper-V. They also have a Discord and they are wonderful at helping folks (where they can). Lastly, your characters and progression etc would be only in your own server - your HC toons have to be played on the HC server online to progress those characters. But still it would give you the option to play something. 👍 Edited to add: Because you said your internet is terrible I have to warn you downloading these files to set up your own server will potentially be a bit of a challenge (also note they use magnet links so you will need to have something that works with those). If someone else you know nearby has a fast internet setup it might be faster to see if you can utilize someone's better download speed (take your pc/laptop to their house and use their connection or perhaps have them download for you and copy files to a portable drive to move them to your pc).
  3. Curious... So I threw Demon Summoning in Mid's with the same enhancements and the numbers are pretty close to what you thought they should be, at least in Mid's. Not that Mid's doesn't have it's variances from Live but this sort of indicates that at least that's how someone thought it worked. I'm not sure if what @TheZag said is correct but it does make me wonder. Good catch @cohRock. Not sure how to answer it but I suspect @Naraka might be correct. Here's a quick screenshot: (& yes they are lvl 50's but that shouldn't make that much difference) @GraspingVileTerror is also correct, they may not be able to pop in here and give us the actual code details under the circumstances. Perhaps an HC dev can at least say 'code bug', 'display bug' or 'working as intended'? Another thought is someone could drop this question over in the Ourodev Discord and see if anyone there might know and can explain it? (if the HC folks cannot for some reason) My best 'guess' is that it is just an in game display bug - hopefully.
  4. I read your post this morning @The Philotic Knight and have been thinking on it and I'm not sure what the best course is. While I understand what you are trying to do this is a bit outside of my wheelhouse of experience/knowledge so any 'advice' I give you is just as likely to be a bad idea as a good one. It sounds like overall the project, while having some setbacks like the crowd sourcing and the sheer volume of files/data, and now the indexing, is still chugging along - just in 'slow motion' and you are having to do it pretty much by yourself, which could take a lot more time if you can't figure out a way to speed things up? Do I have this summed up about right? With all of the tech minded folks here on HC I'm hoping someone who has experience with this sort of thing can maybe give you some good suggestions (as opposed to me throwing stuff at a wall and wasting your time and effort). I can only say this - I am interested in this project and like what you are attempting (and appreciate it!). If there is some way that I can actually help you let me know. I am willing. My comps (pc and laptop) are both aging a bit but they are both still pretty decent so I could probably run something for you if it would actually help. The biggest limitation for me at the moment is probably my internet speed which is decent (25kbps ~ 45kbps, AT&T U-Verse). Anyhow this post doesn't really help you much any but I thought not replying (crickets) wouldn't be very supportive either so all I can do here is like others offer my assistance if needed with the actual work. The figuring out the best way to go about it though is going to have to be someone who knows what they are actually talking about and not me as I'm quite certain you already know significantly more than I about this.
  5. Crazy talk! Sacrilege! This is exactly why people shouldn't be allowed to have their own opinions!!! 😊
  6. Lol - I failed it just reading it! 😁 Seriously though - sounds kind of neat for anyone looking for a serious challenge. Not my thing anymore but these kind of challenges can be fun (and frustrating). I did the 'Unconquered' challenge successfully (without cheating - believe me players find ways) in Age of Conan and while it was fun it is not something I am inclined to do again. Getting up into the mid 40's a couple times and having to start over (both times lag caused my death) was beyond frustrating. And rewarding when I finally accomplished it. So I wish any who do this the best of luck and have fun! 👍
  7. Very interesting guys. Did not know about it, at least in terms of consumers being duped in purchases. Backblaze, being a company and like all companies is trying to squeeze the most profit they can from their business model so that part should not surprise me much. But is Backblaze reselling used drives as something they are not? That would not be cool. Guess like everything else from Ray Bans to medicines the lesson is ‘be careful’.
  8. I was completely unaware of that being a thing (yes I knew it could be done but why? money obviously but still...). I'm always amazed at the lengths some people go to. 😮 I do not buy computer items unless they are legit and from a reliable source. That actually surprises me. Maxtor must have been giving their 'best' to Apple. Or maybe I was just really unlucky with them. A LONG LONG time ago I used to think they were good.
  9. Unfortunately I do not have either one of those. The closest I have is a WP/DB Tanker I made because I had no WP tankers and wanted at least one, and even then I haven't really played her much yet. I personally am now thinking of making a DB Brute because I have none. In your case I would say you should be very happy with either one. As you said the Tanker gets the survivability edge - but the Brute will probably be a bit more fun to play (depending on what you think is fun). In general though both Brutes and Tankers are great AT's and a LOT can be done with either fairly interchangeably. I even have one specific Brute that I made a Tanker mirror of and the backstory is that the Brute has incredible powers, but when that super bad villain or monster comes along and the 'next level' is needed, my brute puts on his armor suit specially designed to 'compliment' his superhero powers. Kind of like if Superman was up against something crazy and he had a Ironman type suit he could put on the would give him that extra needed edge. I bring this up because they both are just plain crazy good and play very similar. I do not 'prefer' one over the other. I like both. Anyhoo... even though my post is nigh worthless to helping with your quandary I jumped in to say that at a quick glance I like both of your builds. Either one should be great (I think).
  10. Not that I know of. Even if your characters were all just sitting at level 1 I can’t imagine that would cause the entire account to be deleted. Maybe check directly with HC support staff to see what’s up? And welcome back (sort of!).
  11. These are good names. On that note I hope you are being careful not to give up one you regret later. I too have recently had life throwing me big curveballs and understand the hiatus thing as it could happen to any of us. I do hope that you really can come back and when you do I hope you leave yourself something to work with and not have to start completely over. I’m sort of projecting my own feelings here and I have no place saying anything really. Only that I really hope this is a ‘spring cleaning’ and not something else. Anyhow my friend, this is a neat idea and very thoughtful and generous. I’m just thinking about you down the road (which I hope leads back here if that’s what you want). Take care my friend.
  12. Oops. I was so busy trying to get a chuckle I sorta missed that... Yeah OP, there's not much you can do about what graphics capabilities and settings others are using. Hopefully someone running a costume contest will have at least a decent card and have the graphics turned up if possible (at least for the event). I am personally not a fan of the cel shading because I tend to like the (very) slightly more realistic look. I have turned those features on and tried them and can see why some folks like them for the comic/animation look - it's just not my personal taste. Could they have had cel shading on and it make your costume look weird (or less like you want it presented)? Sure. They could also be half blind, crazy, and have a bias for certain AT's or color schemes for all you know. Heck, they could have the color settings on their monitor all wonky. Who knows? It's just how it is. These things are for fun and about as subjective as things can be even with the folks running them trying to be fair judges. I supposed a person could submit screenshots to show their build as they want it seen but then it wouldn't be an in game event so much... So, You don't. I'm sure folks will try to be fair, but that will be their version or idea of fair, not yours. Think of it as a field with no hills or valleys but a few potholes and gopher mounds - 'mostly' level. And above all - have fun! If you don't win the first time but it's something your personally want to accomplish - well, keep trying. You can do it. But I would only suggest taking on that journey (or obsession, lol) to those who can accept that it may never happen and are doing it mainly for fun. Sorry about only making a joke response originally. I'm kinda silly at times.
  13. WD is my go to for hard drives and has been for years. No failures. Even base models from way back. Then I went to WD Velociraptors and now I use the WD Black series. Gold are great too. As @Hyperstrike said over 3 decades (close to 4) in my case also and I was even a Seagate fan at one point. I've had failures with Seagate, Maxtor, Hitachi and a couple others I can't recall (probably Fujitsu who I believe is Toshiba now and I think the other was HP). Anyhow, I've even had good experiences with the My Book and Passport external drives even the WD drive utilities are pretty good imo. Most of the drives I'm running in my aging PC are WD and they are still performing as though brand new. So maybe I'm an outlier also (like Hyperstrike) but even online comparisons tend to back up that others having good experiences with WD also. Backblaze tracks HD failure rates and typically WD/HGST beats out both Seagate and Toshiba (which are both good brands also). It's a shame that the Velociraptor series is fading away (most likely due to SSD's becoming mainstream) because they were/are very fast for a spinning drive. Hard Drive Failure Rates for Q1 2021 (backblaze.com) For what it's worth they are all pretty good and there are some Seagate and even Toshiba models that have excellent ratings also (I tend to avoid Toshiba as I have had bad experiences with some of their products - primarily laptops). I will say that I still like Seagate and their high end drives (Ironwolf, Exos...) are very nice, I just prefer WD currently (plus I have had a Seagate fail). As far as Maxtor goes I really hope after Seagate acquired them they improved the product before they slapped their brand label on it. Maxtor drives were very hit or miss for me. SSD's I have only ever used Corsair, Samsung and I believe it's a Lite-On(Plextor?) (in my Alienware laptop) - no failures. If/when I get around to building a new home pc I'll probably go WD Black SSD there also. Sorry for the derail PK. How's the project going? 🙂
  14. I guess it would depend on if it could be viewed as the hired artist profiting monetarily from CoX. It does seem like a bit of a 'stretch' to me but maybe one of the HC folks can pop in here and clear this up a little. It doesn't sound to me like what you want to do is wrong in any way - in fact it sounds neat. I'm just not sure what the mindset of the NCSoft people is and the HC team might be able to elaborate. It's possible they may not have even given such a scenario much thought but now that it's come up clarification would be good. Just my take on it. So, is this sort of the same as paying the server folks or is it a potential way for people to start making money off of something that (at least for now) has to remain non-profit?
  15. I think the 'confusion' with confused (see what I did there?) is whether it is interpreted as meaning the 'giver' is confused vs whether the 'receiver' is confused. (of course this same concept can apply to all of them but I could not resist talking about how 'confused' causes 'confusion' lol). Ummm... I'm not seeing an emoticon there for every possible mood or feeling I might have. The only possible solution I can think of is to make all forums into VR where we can truly express ourselves in the complex yet nuanced ways that humans use to communicate. Yes, this would likely lead to the need for a forum 'fight club' and possible digital injury but it might help curb the real life 12 year olds telling real life SEALS to "git gud". lol
  16. I personally avoid them because I would always win and that would make others angry at me. Don't hate me because I'm awesome... 🙃
  17. Because it’s the one I enjoy playing the most. Deep question and I gave it some thought and finally settled on that very simplistic answer. What makes this a little more difficult is that Homecoming has allowed me to enjoy so many different characters that I honestly now have several. Which is a good thing in my book. Sometimes it’s an awesome look and/or name. Sometimes it’s a build and what it can do. Sometimes I personally identify with them (feel a connection). Sometimes it’s nostalgia or fond memories. Not any one toon or specific thing. Heck sometimes it’s the mood I’m in or a reflection or release of real life. Can be a lot of things for me and it can be fluid/fluctuate. I’m not very good at psychoanalyzing myself. (thank goodness)
  18. IMO this is not actually a simple question. I would say it depends on your build, play style and what you are trying to accomplish. I have builds with multiple, only one and even some with none. Also, how much do you need end over def or res or dam or anything else? I tend to get a little carried away with mine so maybe I’m not the right person to try to answer this. It is a great question though. Any of you out there not already half asleep care to explain this better than my feeble attempt? Lol
  19. Well I like the thumbs but I guess I’m not quite sure when to use thumbs up vs like (I already sometimes find myself split between thanks and like sometimes). Guess I need to brush up on all this stuff. Lol And how many thumbs down equals a knife? (j/k) 🔪 😜
  20. I hear what you’re saying but I sometimes will just skip the treats from the p2w and not give the toon startup cash and stick to the training/do/so enhancements to get the ‘feel’ of the original game. Maybe I’m not remembering correctly but when I’ve done this it seems very much to me like ‘the old days’ so to me it’s still possible to recreate that feeling somewhat. Granted there are still a ton of other QoL changes like the fitness pool and early travel powers and respecs etc but those don’t really take away from the game for me. Yeah, I remember the early days fondly also but in my case just about everything that has been changed or added has been something I can either enjoy or skip if I want to. I do miss my friends and son and brother playing also but the world has moved on for them.
  21. Fortunately for me the list of 'things I don't miss from live' is the longer one. 😁 The instance herding thing was fun. I agree with the specialty supergroups too. On Everlasting the other day my cyborg gorilla toon got an invite to an all animal themed SG which tells me that those things are maybe still around just harder to find?
  22. I was unaware of this. Shredator will be unhappy to hear this news... (my sm stalker) 🙁
  23. Where I'm from we call it 'per-noon-ky-ashen"! 😁
  24. And on that note: What exactly is the molecular structure of superadine? Are we certain is has no amines? Does Visine have amines? Gasoline? Trinitrotoluene? (scratch that last one hehe) I just don't see how superadine can cause interdimensional travel without amine groups... (lol) On a more serious note: Is there no cut scene where this word is spoken? I can't remember. How about any old videos of Cryptic devs talking about it? Curious how they were pronouncing it back in the day... It's always embarrassing trying to purchase illegal narcotics and pronouncing it wrong!
