Some of my guys would be hanging out in Noonan's Bar in the Cauldron, and playing cards with Tommy Monagahan.

Oh, never tried Aberrant? Or Wild Talents/Godlike? Both, for me, sitting at the top of the Supers RPG mountain.

Dev Diary - Piecemeal's Workshop of Horrors
Darmian replied to Piecemeal's topic in Developer's Corner
ANNND what about inserting a few extra missions in BEFORE it goes belly up? I mean, it's impossible to do them all anyway outside of ouro, but a few more here and there peppered around would be interesting. And giving Goldsiders access to the actual Last Bastion missions (simply by moving a door and having Six contact them via radio would also be sweet)* *Yes, I know my having a level 50 Praetorian who never left is odd, let's not dwell on that. (Abandon Praetoria? COWARDS!) -
True. And the First Ward trolley cars are different than the ones seen in the Underground as well, so that's a thing.
-
See, BITS of the game does. Like if you do Mr. G's arc there's a point where you have to talk to a former IDF guy, and if you were Praetorian and followed a certain path then he just will not bargain with you, it's a fight. But the Mr. G arc is late game so... (I don't know if you've tried the Praetorian AE trilogy in my sig, @MTeague but if you do let me know. Trying to make it fit right in.)
-
And the current "final" Praetorian map is Last Bastion, which has incongruities as regards the rest of Praetoria, such as the remains of an overhead tram system as opposed to an Underground. So obviously not entirely contiguous with the rest of Praetoria. Now, there's a fairly obvious mechanical reason for that, since the map is actually a reskinned version of the large island from the drowned Boomtown map, but hey ho, world building. And the smaller forest based maps in Number Six's arc are interesting too.

Well, it IS divided into 6 parts and an epilogue. From immediately prior to release Snyder was talking about it being streamed episodically, and then HBO Max decided not to do that. Meh. Is what it is.

First Ward. Showing how desolation can be beautifully done as opposed to just, I dunno,"lots pf generic broken buildings". It has the shape of what was underneath what is and I fiind myself scooting around it and imagining that. HOWEVER, there not being a single usable door on the Mother of Mercy means that great building is wasted. Yeah, there's a mission SET inside it, but you don't get there via First Ward. Shame! Imperial City. Feels like a city. There's a lot more thought there than people see, more than just the "shiny". Like, you see the buildings and then you see Lodestone Technologies, and that building doesn't look like a tech building should, and then you find a plaque nearby saying it used to be a theater, so you step back, and yeah, you can see that theater shape to it. Little things like that. (I wanted to like Croatoa - and in some ways I do, since there's damn all open space in Paragon it's nice to see some that isn't a park - but they butchered the lore, and that grates.) St. Martial. There is SOOO much more to that place than just the Giza, and that building is impressive. It should have more in it! Bloody Bay. Love that place. It needs to be PVE, it is absolutely a waste as a dead PVP zone.

Yeah. You're the God Emperor of an entire planet, EVERYONE serves you in all capacities, because your word is literally the law. But sure, interpretation is interpretation. I'll agree on that. However, in a comic business sense at the least, and this wasn't Vertigo(!) then this reader/player is interpreting that that isn't there. You can have one hell of a screwed up relationship with your family without it ever being that. Back to the OP's point.
-
Yeah, bollocks to that. I've literally just re-read from Dark Mirror onwards online, and that's some reviewer's twisted thinking on things. (a) Neuron believes there's a weird relationship between them, but there's no mention of sexuality (b) "all capacities" isn't mentioned once in that comic and (c) You have the typical sexist drawing of a female character in a panel. So OF COURSE this is that. No it isn't.

Reunion. Because the other four Shards already ARE named in the Anniversary Badge list.

Much as I'm not a fan of Longbow, I think an LB equivalent of the VEATs should be a thing. Yeah, I KNOW PBs and WSs are the "equivalent", except they're not really in a content narrative sense. So obviously Villains would need some corresponding version that side, OR at least PB & WS villain arcs to complement the hero side ones. And don't get me started on Gold needing everything! Also, Hero Corps? Can they actually DO something for once?

LOVED the detail and care and just fun of it. BUT...I play a lot of AE, give some of the writers in there those tools and maybe you'll see a whole extra bazoom alongside the cool Dev material. From this player's perspective LB should just be gone from the Rogue Isles and have the Isles move forward in a better way.

Is there any way to make teams less boring?
Darmian replied to RogueWolf's topic in General Discussion
"But the 20 somethings think they look good while they do their petty stuff." Fixed it for you. -
I think, I think, trying to remember now, that the AE in Brickstown (hazy memory on it, it's up against a war wall I think) the power suppression doesn't work in that one.

Is there any way to make teams less boring?
Darmian replied to RogueWolf's topic in General Discussion
Nope, that's the game forcing you into a group that needs X+Y to succeed. I LIKE that most things can be solo'd, I do. But teaming has its fun too. I'm probably whistling in the wind here (not at you now) but a sea change in attitude is needed, so that teams are treated as teams and not just extra bodies to up NPC numbers/blah blah. So in the spirit of "be the change" albeit some may get pissed at me, I drop from teams that are just 8 people soloing in the same mission. Leprechaun Hanukah? -

I'm for this. See other post on a (possibly deranged?) solution to doing this relatively rapidly. -
DC/Warners are pretty much to blame though, however you feel about Snyder's vision. They've come off the Dark Knight trilogy on a high, were rebooting Superman with Nolan as producer, and TBH that movie is not bad at all. BUT...look across the street at Marvel! "We need to catch up and we don't need to put the ground work in to get where they are now, do we, Zack? That wasn't really a question, Zack. Get it done." And then we are where we are. I actually enjoyed ZSJL, but to each their own I suppose. I always viewed the DCEU as more mythic and operatic in some ways than the MCU, and it mostly stuck to that. They could do with a Winter Soldier in there, but they got Wonder Woman, so that works. And Aquaman was (a) by the numbers but (b) just fun, and Shazam, ah, lovely. And the confusion continues with the absolute piece of shit that is Joker. I didn't like "King of Comedy" before, why would I watch the Clownface version of it? At least it is off to one side.

Is there any way to make teams less boring?
Darmian replied to RogueWolf's topic in General Discussion
I am not going to say "correctly or "incorrectly", I simply state my own play style. For me I join a team to be on a team, not on "8 players solo everything", or more to the OP's point, "3 players solo everything and 5 wander about aimlessly sucking up XP." It seems mad I have to say this but teams team. Now, if you're happy to be on the "8 players solo everything" grouping then more power to you, and I hope you have fun. But for me teams, well, team, not just group together. Now this doesn't mean keeping together in some sort of murder-huddle, or falling into the Holy Trinity fallacy of each player/character absolutely needing an assigned role, but for me at least teams should offer the chance of actual team work. That's it really. -

I'm just going to throw this in here. Obviously it needs further development but I'm thinking a halfway house between AE and so on. -
Thoughts on the evolution of the Rogue Isles
Darmian replied to Darmian's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Of course, before we get ahead of ourselves, a slew of contacts like that should firstly be given to Vigilantes/Rogues, because frankly they need it.
