I don’t know what Cygnus is, but I’m pretty sure FS wouldn’t help Water Spout at all. I could be wrong though. I mean both 🙂 I have it on two of my Gravity Controllers so far. My Grav/Storm has Spirit Ward and Enflame, and my Grav/Sonic has an amazing 4 ally toggles. The latter Singularity has even higher resistance, high absorb, and auras that damage, debuff resistance, knockdown, and trigger Force Feedback on me 🙂 One more caveat to make sure you’re aware of: Wormhole does nothing to level 54 bosses. Because of this flaw, I’ve actually taken to using Teleport Target on some Gravity controllers to just drop Singularity in the middle of a mob. Remember Singularity is now the game’s only vacuum pull type power, so it groups things in a very nice tight radius if you drop it in the middle of the action. That starts to be a lot of pool investments though. My Grav/Storm is the most ridiculous due to having Wormhole, Teleport Target, and Fold Space. Constantly throwing spawns into the fray.

A lot of people make the false assumption that heals are obsolete in this game because of the fact that power creep has left characters with so much passive mitigation that heals don’t see a lot of use in facerolly content. The problem is, that assumption is based on a narrow look at the game. Example: one night I joined an 801 AE group with a /Time Controller. There was another Time user on the team as well. Now, basic experience in the game doing typical TF’s will tell you Time is a top tier performer because Defense is king of mitigation. But this isn’t just some ITF or Apex/Tin - this is a genuine challenge. And we actually got crushed. Now fast forward. Both Time users swapped out for Electrical Affinity. And THEN the team really started to make progress thanks to all the Heals/Absorbs. I am quite positive that Time is regarded as a more powerful set than Electrical Affinity in average settings because average players absolutely worship +Def, +Rech, and -Res. And yet, once the content became hard enough, suddenly Defense was no longer king. I bet once Hard Mode comes out, Empathy will look a smidge better to the experienced player. It’s not a bad set, it just leans too heavily into a supporting role to shine in easy game modes where support isn’t needed.

I think a lot will hinge on these hard mode rewards being worthwhile. One of the reasons (not the only reason) the self-gimp suggestions are so nonsensical is that they artificially increase difficulty with zero compensation.

Kick Bot Build - Looking for Critique and Attack Chain Suggestions
arcane replied to OceanusCoH's topic in Tanker
I finished an Elec/MA a week or two ago. I’ll try to remember to weigh in when I’m home 🙂 EDIT: My attack chain is basically Storm Kick -> 2 of 3 other attacks -> Storm Kick. Storm Kick is my highest DPA attack so it’s more beneficial to repeat it more often than the others. So how this works is: Storm Kick -> Crippling Axe Kick -> Crane Kick -> Storm Kick -> Cobra Strike -> Crippling Axe Kick -> Storm Kick -> Crane Kick -> Cobra Strike -> [Repeat] Other than that, just my standard comment that you have a lot more bonuses and a lot fewer procs than I do. Different strokes for different folks. -
Power Animation Options on Khelds? Maybe?
arcane replied to Maakrabe's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
VEATs are overdue for the ability to even change colors before HEATs need any shiny new animations.. But yeah, sure, in the long term, alternate animations are a neat thing in general. -
As of last night, it’s done. Minus maybe half my +5 boosters and 4 HO’s needing to be 53’d. I only did trials last night though - need to solo test this evening 🙂 Looking at your last build though, I’m pretty sure you won’t like mine 😕 I’m much more aggressive about sacrificing set bonuses for procs, and admittedly this build wouldn’t function great without Incarnates. Without Ageless, I’d probably be hurting for more of your recharge bonuses I see above - think I’m only at 62.5% in bonuses. Not one full purple set of 5-6 in this one! All that said, I’m definitely already enjoying it more than the last, set-heavier build I had.

Hard no to this sub-suggestion. Hesitant maybe to the OP 🙂 This effect is stupid powerful. Putting that much power into a single IO for a power that is literally supposed to do the exact opposite thing.. would be way too much. Now, if you want to talk about sets that aren’t already top tier, I can get on board with looking at putting this effect somewhere in Force Field. Storm and Kinetics at least need precisely zero buffs, and the jump from repel to vacuum is most certainly a powerful buff.

I don’t think - at least I hope - that anyone saying the game is too easy is illogical enough to be saying that because of +0 speed runs. The problem is definitely much worse: that in fact +4 is too easy.
-
Thank you 🙂 that’s comforting because I initially thought you might be saying that you could do hard mode at +0.
-
I’m thinking about respecing my Ill/Dark this weekend to be more effective vs AV’s. Gonna probably snag both Poisonous Ray and Enflame because the DPS vs a level 54 AV was pretty pitiful last I checked.
-
Not sure I’m fond of the implication that there’s going to be an easy version of hard mode. Can we wrap up the extra rewards in something that you’re actually certain is difficult..
-
Good to see the devs trying to address the real problem a little. I’m still dumbfounded at how many people genuinely think good game design is telling people to create faux difficulty by completely ignoring key parts of the game rather than creating genuine difficulty, but hey you can’t just teach common sense.
-
Balance is the dev’s job. It is not the player’s duty to self-gimp. A player is allowed to simultaneously (1) want to play a maxed out character and (2) want the game to be more than a faceroll.
-
Like I said, reactions will be apocalyptic 🙂
-
Again, games are not designed this way. When something is overpowered, developers don’t respond with, “well clearly all players will gimp themselves or avoid efficient and lucrative content in order to keep something overpowered from existing”. That’s just not reality. Not that radio missions are something I would do. TF’s are easy enough and not over in 5 minutes.
-
If it wasn’t designed to be used in that content, why would you have any problem with it... no longer being used in that content?? You’re kind of arguing for this change here.
-
The way players talk about Everlasting Pocket D on the forum, it does sound like it’s overrun with furries, yes 🙂
-
If the analogy were a good one and Hellions actually gave worthwhile rewards to level 50’s, that would indeed be a problem worth asking the devs to reconsider.
-
On another note, this whole “as long as the player technically has a choice to not be overpowered, all overpowered-ness is ok and good” argument is bizarre. Like that’s ever been how game design works...

I’d be fine with this suggestion, but this is about as likely to happen as a government program being discontinued. Reactions will be akin to “millions will die”.
-
If anything, I’d rather it get more damage than have a lower recharge. Hands off my precious perfect proc rates 🙂 Not sure it’s hurting for either, but, if you insist something must be done.

Just ran an ITF, Suggestions for some players ....
arcane replied to krj12's topic in General Discussion
ITF is such a streamlined faceroll that your only job as a tank or any other AT is to be one of any eight players and to keep smashing Romans. Any AT with IO’s and a couple of inspirations can take the alphas. -
Guilty on multiple counts 😕
