I wouldn’t worry too much about SO / generic IO advice. Now that you’ve figured out basic survival at 90% fire res, it’s only a matter of time before you move on to IO sets and replace the cheap stuff.

I don’t have mids but hang in there and don’t give up - a good moneymaker will solve a lot of your frustrations with this game 🙂

You can get 45% fire def with only IO set bonuses.

Get temperature protection until you have IO’s so you can be at 90% res. 45% comes from IO set bonuses primarily. Some people get some defense toggles in the mix too there, but you’ll need bonuses either way.

Seems like this is one big nonissue now that the one poster with a giant chip on their shoulder has stepped out of the room.

You absolutely don’t need 45% fire defense to farm. You only need 45% fire defense to farm completely AFK. None of my farmers take healing flames because it’s useless to a fully kitted out fire farmer (except as a set bonus mule), but if you do use it whenever it’s up, you can easily make a very cheap build work vs +4x8.

Irradiated Ground is currently broken and extremely OP with procs. They’re aware of it though, so I wouldn’t expect it to be this way forever. Shield/Rad would be a fantastic combo.

This. If I was focused solely on making the most money, I would marketeer. The only reason I farm is because marketeering bores me to tears. I once managed to make a billion marketeering, but I was screaming internally the whole time. Even if marketeering wasn’t so clearly superior to farming for making money, there are other activities I would also do if the rewards were my sole focus. More hami raids and more WST’s, for instance. As someone that farms so much, I frankly consider myself a relatively slow reward earner.

Both of my SR tankers are proc monsters with Vigor Alpha. Since SR needs less slotting investment than any other primary to get invincible, lots of room to tack on procs for offense. Many attacks with 4-6 procs. So both have wound up feeling pretty good on damage. My Ice/Staff’s damage is definitely worse, yeah.

What evidence do you have for claiming most end game builds are at 45% defense of some kind? Seriously. This condescending non-answer is beneath you snarks.

Again, none of these observations amount to useful data, and some are quite faulty. A player’s HP bar is not that well correlated to their defense attribute. I am positive that I can survive better with 20-30% defense and the rest of my build geared towards offense than a less experienced player that got to 45% defense with the help of the forums.

SR can cap all resistances but psi (can’t remember about toxic). One of the best armor sets in the game rn, easily 🙂
