  1. Or they got go to rescue the fourth hero while the rest of the team is clearing the stairs and tries to blame the rest of the team for the early door trigger. EDIT: Fixed the typo.
  2. Directions need to be unambiguous. When they aren't you can practically guarantee that someone will get it wrong. Someone doing Posi 1 for the first time that gets told "Stay off the stairs" and later "Let's clear the stairs" can pretty naturally think that second one meant they can go anywhere. Then they accidentally trigger the ambush and get yelled at even though they didn't really do anything they weren't told.
  3. I'd like to see more MM primaries. In a sense, most MM primary powersets are modified versions of corruptor primaries (robots/beam rifle; thugs/DP, etc.) which gives a nice starting point. For example, coming up with a Devouring Earth MM, could just be a modified corruptor seismic set. Keep Shatter, Entomb, and Upthrust; use existing assets for the pet tiers; two upgrade powers; and a pet buff. I'd like to see it go the other way too. Demons and Beasts don't have a corruptor equivalent and I think they'd be great additions. The first would give is the whip based powerset we've all wanted for years, and the second would be an interesting "Nature Blast" set that would open up nature/nature corruptors and defenders.
  4. This is part of the backstory for my bird Arch/TA blaster. "What do you mean I can't be called Hawkeye? I'm literally a hawk!"
  5. I think it would be easier to explain to a new player that slots are for future expansion and not something that needs to be filled right away. It's so easy to blow through early levels, and once that slows down they should be at the point where a white IO is better than an equal level SO. Enhancements are analogous to equipment in other MMOs, but it's not an exact one to one thing. It's perfectly viable to run around "naked" in CoX at low levels and only slot your drops and recipes you craft yourself.
  6. Now I want a version with extra powers instead of the pets as a corruptor primary/defender secondary slime set.
  7. I would go with a tank. Willpower, Invulnerability, or Shield as the primary. Those are set it and forget it sets (shield gets neat toys later), so you can focus on your attacks and positioning instead of fiddling with toggles refreshing abilities. I'd take dark as secondary. If the dark emo look doesn't fit the character theme, you can make it bright pastels if you like. Any secondary works though, so it's more important that you pick something that looks cool and you want to play. Some with more complex mechanics/behavior you may not like: Dual Blades, Kinetic Melee, Titan Weapon. Those are perfectly viable attack sets, but need extra attention and timing to get the most out of them. A brute is a viable choice too. They just have a different playstyle than the other melee classes where they greatly benefit from continuously attacking. You be continually using inspirations to keep up health and end so you can Keep. On. Attacking. All. The. Time. to keep your fury up. You'll also slot your powers slightly different that the other ATs. A brute doesn't care about damage. You just need accuracy to hit more, recharge to hit faster, and endurance reduction to keep hitting longer. Also, since you're soloing here are some guides on seeing lots of story content in the game. I've done both and liked them a lot. Blueside: Redside:
  8. I'm 100% onboard for more Kheldian content. I'd like to see the Shining Stars comeback in the late game. They're a junior varsity supergroup for some tutorials and a story arc early on, and then (for admittedly good reasons) they vanish. I like the characters though and doing more with them would be cool. Maybe they could be investigating the Kheldians and get in over their head with the Council? The exact details aren't important. J just want a TF or another arc with Dillo and the gang. HOORB!
  9. It's gotten mobbed by haters saying I could just alter the game files change what I see, but I'd love a ton of power reskin options. Then MM pet switches don't have to mess up the balancing. You'd just chose what the minions are for the different powers. It'd also make it less of a chore to add new pet options. They don't need to make clows powerset, they just need to make clown models.
  10. I overwhelmingly to team instead of solo, so YMMV. I haven't watched @serxiom's video, but it's likely good stuff. Do that if it's different from me. I have dom as my auto power, so as soon as it fills up it goes off. I also only have phantom army, so no KB. The general sequence is -Hasten if it's up. -Deceive. Multiple times if I think it's needed -Summon dudes. -Caltrops macro. This is where stealth is lost. Here's the macro if you want it: /macro_image "MartialAssault_Caltrops" "Caltrops" "powexec_location forward:5 Caltrops" -Gleam or flash or both. -Start melee. As needed mix in mezz, trick shot, and exploding shuriken. If you pop a yellow, it cures blind just like break free does with stun, hold, etc.
  11. I'm hardly an expert, but I just finished getting an Ill/Mart dom to 50 yesterday, and our builds are very similar. The only real difference is that I dropped spinning kick and put the slots into regular kick because I was sick of spinning kick missing, I also have force feedback procs in kick and cross punch that get phantom army almost permanent if I can stay busy whaling on mobs. In place of spinning kick I have caltrops slotted with the damage procs from Positron and bombardment plus the -res proc from annihilation. Along with a macro to drop them right in front of me, they're a nice damage boost.
  12. His entire point was that they're not explicitly magical in way the tech ones are technological. Can you come up with a non-silly magical robot pet or assault rifle powers with mercs?
  13. @biostem I agree with you. There's nothing stopping someone from saying the dark pit undead minions crawl out of is really a "SG portal" to your secret base where the mad scientist character is trying to create life but still can't quite get it right. Boom. There's your tech/science/mutant undead. They're all clones or something. (Anyone reading this is free to steal the character idea. I'm spitballing and have plenty of toons at the moment.)
  14. I really like this idea. It could work for a whole family of powers with Arcane Blast as a damage set, Arcane Ward as an armor set, and Arcane [INSERT WORD HERE] as the buff/debuff set. To add my own suggestion, most of the pet powers have analogous ranged sets. Thugs is like DP, Ninjas is Archery, etc. Beasts and Demons don't have one though, and I think a ranged whip set and a Nature blast set would be cool additions.
  15. Could we get the bigger version of the Longbow Chaser that the game uses as the Team Transport on blueside? I'd like to have a hangar with "my" TT in it, but the Chasers are way too small.
  16. One of the hijinks the people at Something Awful did when the game was live was make a bunch of characters called "Marvel Lawyer 2873" (with random numbers) and go harass copyright infringing characters in local chat.
  17. I couldn't help but notice the suggestion didn't involve deleting the villain character when they were defeated and sent to prison for life after being beaten in Atlas Park.
  18. The Buff Rifle support beam weapon: Invigorating Radiation: Shoot a teammate for a minor heal Hard Light; AOE ally shield that gives +resist for S/L and energy Stimulating Radiation: To-hit and damage buff Plasma Shell: AOE shield +res for negative, fire, and cold Plasma Defibrillator: Ally rez Zapping Jolt: Clears mez Collimated Radiation: Cone heal Radiation flash: single enemy -to hit, -damage Searing blast: AOE enemy -def, -res
  19. I know it's a mechanics issue. Bringing up thematics is to defuse the "Yeah it's annoying, but it should be what happens." There's no gameplay reason this should exist and no in-game lore based reason either.
  20. I'd be adamantly opposed to bring prestige back for everyone. I love the awesome bases some people have made, and they should still have "creative mode" available to keep doing that. It's only the people in combat that should be in a world of limited resources.
  21. This is a huge pain in the rear on my vigilante characters and I assume the same thing happens to rogue characters too. It's always been there, but with the massive population increase there are more redside teams to join, and it's reached the threshold of annoyance. When my vigilante characters enter my SG base, it automatically removes me from a redside team. From a gameplay standpoint, this removes a major means of moving around in the game with base portals. I also don't see how it works thematically. The character is a vigilante using SG resources for their own purposes. What's the problem with that?
  22. I've thought about bringing back prestige recently too. My thought was that base PVP would require payments for the base's prestige cost. Failure to pay just removes your base from PVP until you can pay it again.
  23. One thing to keep an eye out for is the Achilles Heel -resistance IO for your soldiers and spec-ops. They already do -defense with their cone attacks. Adding -resistance as well helps take down mobs even faster. It's a low level IO too (10 to 20), so it's got good odds of converting from another IO in the same range.
  24. I have a Nin/Time that I really like. It's an active playstyle where you need to be close to the action for your toggle aura to debuff the bad guys while you toss out buffs and debuffs. When you're working on your build, remember that the first upgrade skill can take defense IO sets and the second one can take healing. They're good spots to put a LotG, Miracle, or Numina to save a slot or even a whole power pick as a mule.
  25. I know it makes other people's lives better because I'm playing CoX instead of interacting with them. 😄 I haven't played Warcraft for a long long time, but I think this game is more chill because of the reward system. Too many guilds and their members have what I called Purple Fever where they only ever do a small selection of dungeons to get bleeding edge gear and people wanting to do other things are "unproductive" like it's a job rather than a game. There's a much wider variety of things to do that give good rewards, so we can all be more chill about what's going on.
