  1. @biostem I agree with you. There's nothing stopping someone from saying the dark pit undead minions crawl out of is really a "SG portal" to your secret base where the mad scientist character is trying to create life but still can't quite get it right. Boom. There's your tech/science/mutant undead. They're all clones or something. (Anyone reading this is free to steal the character idea. I'm spitballing and have plenty of toons at the moment.)
  2. I really like this idea. It could work for a whole family of powers with Arcane Blast as a damage set, Arcane Ward as an armor set, and Arcane [INSERT WORD HERE] as the buff/debuff set. To add my own suggestion, most of the pet powers have analogous ranged sets. Thugs is like DP, Ninjas is Archery, etc. Beasts and Demons don't have one though, and I think a ranged whip set and a Nature blast set would be cool additions.
  3. Could we get the bigger version of the Longbow Chaser that the game uses as the Team Transport on blueside? I'd like to have a hangar with "my" TT in it, but the Chasers are way too small.
  4. One of the hijinks the people at Something Awful did when the game was live was make a bunch of characters called "Marvel Lawyer 2873" (with random numbers) and go harass copyright infringing characters in local chat.
  5. I couldn't help but notice the suggestion didn't involve deleting the villain character when they were defeated and sent to prison for life after being beaten in Atlas Park.
  6. The Buff Rifle support beam weapon: Invigorating Radiation: Shoot a teammate for a minor heal Hard Light; AOE ally shield that gives +resist for S/L and energy Stimulating Radiation: To-hit and damage buff Plasma Shell: AOE shield +res for negative, fire, and cold Plasma Defibrillator: Ally rez Zapping Jolt: Clears mez Collimated Radiation: Cone heal Radiation flash: single enemy -to hit, -damage Searing blast: AOE enemy -def, -res
  7. I know it's a mechanics issue. Bringing up thematics is to defuse the "Yeah it's annoying, but it should be what happens." There's no gameplay reason this should exist and no in-game lore based reason either.
  8. I'd be adamantly opposed to bring prestige back for everyone. I love the awesome bases some people have made, and they should still have "creative mode" available to keep doing that. It's only the people in combat that should be in a world of limited resources.
  9. This is a huge pain in the rear on my vigilante characters and I assume the same thing happens to rogue characters too. It's always been there, but with the massive population increase there are more redside teams to join, and it's reached the threshold of annoyance. When my vigilante characters enter my SG base, it automatically removes me from a redside team. From a gameplay standpoint, this removes a major means of moving around in the game with base portals. I also don't see how it works thematically. The character is a vigilante using SG resources for their own purposes. What's the problem with that?
  10. I've thought about bringing back prestige recently too. My thought was that base PVP would require payments for the base's prestige cost. Failure to pay just removes your base from PVP until you can pay it again.
  11. One thing to keep an eye out for is the Achilles Heel -resistance IO for your soldiers and spec-ops. They already do -defense with their cone attacks. Adding -resistance as well helps take down mobs even faster. It's a low level IO too (10 to 20), so it's got good odds of converting from another IO in the same range.
  12. I have a Nin/Time that I really like. It's an active playstyle where you need to be close to the action for your toggle aura to debuff the bad guys while you toss out buffs and debuffs. When you're working on your build, remember that the first upgrade skill can take defense IO sets and the second one can take healing. They're good spots to put a LotG, Miracle, or Numina to save a slot or even a whole power pick as a mule.
  13. I know it makes other people's lives better because I'm playing CoX instead of interacting with them. 😄 I haven't played Warcraft for a long long time, but I think this game is more chill because of the reward system. Too many guilds and their members have what I called Purple Fever where they only ever do a small selection of dungeons to get bleeding edge gear and people wanting to do other things are "unproductive" like it's a job rather than a game. There's a much wider variety of things to do that give good rewards, so we can all be more chill about what's going on.
  14. Maybe rebrand the police scanner as the Hero Corp app? Then running missions is the hero version of doing some work for Uber/DoorDash/etc. Then the main company can be mercenary, but all the money happens in the background and doesn't sully the player's hands.
  15. I have a brute with Psi and Force of Will and it's great fun. Wall of Force is great procced out to give you varied damage, and I like the AOE KD from Takeoff too. The brute choice wasn't driven by psi, but by the probably not optimal choice of Willpower as the secondary. The higher HP total of brutes and tankers gets more out of a secondary based on regeneration. The synergies people are bringing up here are better choices. And so far the most satisfying thing is tearing up Paragon Protectors when they pop Moment of Glory. It's a huge defense buff to everything...but psi damage.
  16. I'm leveling one right now and it's definitely offensive unless it's an intensive fight where I drop into efficient. Even if I'm in efficient, I'll go offensive before pop the aim+nuke combo.
  17. I temper my alt-itis by having a personal rule that I can't have more than two characters without a bio written that's at least five lines long.
  18. By resources I mean things like Tidal Power for water blast, Static for electrical affinity, Blood Frenzy for savage melee, etc. As things are, the only way I can easily see how much I have is to show autopowers and clutter up my screen with unhelpful information such as telling me I have sprint turned on or that all my auto-powers for Invulnerability are active. If it would be an easier solution, I'd be fine with adding it to combat attributes and I can put it on my monitored list.
  19. Movement 4/5. Most jumps are easier than you think, and the biggest contributor to missed cones is the target dying when the cone is queued up as the next power and the game autotargeting another mob. I blame the game for that though. All cones should be facing cones and not targeted cones. Leader 1/5. I have little patience for many of the people in PUGs. I'll set challenges like time and limited defeats, but I'm never hardcore about achieving them. Builds 3/5. I can make a competent build, but don't have the detailed knowledge of set bonuses to really weave together a really good build. Badging 1.75/5. I have a badge tracking mod for the exploration ones, but it's not really an interest of mine to ferret them all out. Maybe once I get some full Incarnates... Key binds. 4.5/5, I have a text file of keybinds that has lots of QoL binds plus the stadard MM ones (and I've modified those to have emotes along with them). A big help with this is the Technical Reference Guide you can find at shenanigunner.com In game knowledge 4.5/5. I'm a nerd that likes to write bios for my characters, so I've read a lot of extra material to weave things into those bios. Stuff like living in White Plains when the disaster that made it into Crey's Folly happened.
  20. A few of mine Stormied Annuals Storm/Plant blaster. Incisive political commentary! Pratfall Forcefield/Energy defender. Built for maximum KD/KB, and great fun exemped down for TFs Raining Cats and Dogs Beasts/Storm mastermind. Charging Cattle Electric/Shield scrapper Gratuitous Windup Kinetc/Regen scrapper. Someday I hope to hit something with the T9 kinetic attack before the rest of the team kills it. Shoots and LADDERS Beam Rifle/Electric Armor sentinel. With LADDERS (Local AI Driven Destructive Energy Release System) being the name of the gun. Bobby Q Fire/Fire/Fire sentinel. Midnight Fister Street Justice/Energy Armor stalker Lady Beatdown Super Reflexes/Martial Arts tank Otto Ignition Fire/Fire tank.
  21. I don't get why you want to be at the motel if there are already tons of people there. Plenty of other places with lots of doors you can go to.
  22. I'm unclear as to what you're asking for. I'm pretty sure he's suggesting a swap to another character without going through the character select screen. Like if I were playing Batman, I could type /altswap Robin (I'm totally making up the command here), and the game would logoff Batman and go right to logging in as Robin. And the account would have a 10 minute cooldown to use that command again.
  23. Obviously if the answer is yes, I'd like it, but don't want to demand something the game architecture cannot do. Specifically the LFG channel would be all I need, but I'm keeping the request generic in case others want to read the sparkling repartee of General or something. I think we've all been there when we log in, scroll through all those alt-itis characters, enter the game, and immediately find I should have picked a different character because of a group forming in LFG. I then have to back out and pick that other character. It feels like a lot of wasted time that could have been avoided if I could see the LFG channel from the start. To be super clear, I don't need to be able to interact with the chat at all; just see it. I'm fine waiting to send the "I'll do Manticore" tell once I enter the game with my selected toon.
  24. Sounds like a good idea. I do the same thing and feel the same annoyance. Purely as a workaround to keep things in syne, if you're using macros or keybinds to both activate fly+change to jetpack and land+change back, you can hit them again once the timer is done and it'll do the costume change to the proper costume.
  25. Gross. They're like 14 years old.
