  1. In the guides forum there's a post on this. The answer is no, but the replies have a lot of good tips. Here's a link.
  2. I wanted to pick the forum's brain for my new dom. To combat alt-itis, I have a private rule to try and not have repeat powersets, so for the new one it's limited to Primary Electric Fire Ice Mind Secondary Earth Ice Thorny I don't want to say no ice/ice, but I've already got dual ice on a blaster and a stalker, so the dom will need a good elevator pitch for the set combination. Given all those completely arbitrary restrictions, what would you folks go for? No need for a build since they'll be rocking with white IOs for a while, but I'd also be interested in any must-have/must-skip powers in the set.
  3. The game is glutted with the storm blast powerset, but I have a storm/plants blaster named Stormied Annuals stashed away for later.
  4. Everyone uses poopsocks these days.
  5. OP said they have the Sudden Acceleration KB>KD enhancement, so the hurricane isn't doing any knockback. The enemies they're seeing be pushed away are being repelled.
  6. It's a repel, not a knockback. There's nothing to mitigate it. Best thing you can do is position yourself so the enemy is pushed in a useful direction.
  7. My problem is less with knockback itself and more with misusing knockback. I'm 100% ok it once I've pulled the group up against a wall or into a corner. Blast on them all you want. It's a different story when people zip into groups and unleash a PBAOE with knockback or use it to push mobs away from the melee people. That's how I use it on my Forcefield/Energy defender. All the AOE powers got changed to knockdown, but the cone and force bolt have KB ramped up so I can use him like a leaf blower to push mobs into the whirlpools, rains of fire, and foot stomping tanks the rest of the team is laying down.
  8. I'll throw in enhancements like endurance reductions on a case by case basis if the toon needs it or conveniently dropped recipes, but I can normally stick it out to do the filling all slots until 27.
  9. I like it as a slightly shorter ranged combat teleport if I'm already in the teleport pool.
  10. I run double XP and can't fathom blowing that kind of money on a new toon. I'm not even sure I'll keep a character until they hit 22-27 and I find I like the powersets. I spend 2 mil at level 27 filling slots with level 30 IOs and consider that a lot to spend. Those IOs will sit there until they get replaced with set enhancements or a level 50 IO if they'll never get a set--like in Hasten. There's no content that's so bleeding edge before 50 that the miniscule boost from upgrading IOs as you level is worth it.
  11. In my opinion, stalkers are there to take down the tougher mobs that don't evaporate when the rest of the team dumps their AOE on the group of enemies, so speeding up killing bosses and AVs is your team contribution. For a more general meaning of support, I like my ice/ice stalker. I've got frost and chilling embrace to apply a slow, ice patch for knockdown zone, and freezing touch for powerful hold on a quick recharge.
  12. I would like a little marker on my endurance bar to show how much I need to run my toggle powers. I don't want it to stop me from going below that. I just want to know when I am risking my toggles dropping.
  13. Do you have a build for that last one you can share? I've been leveling one, but working out a 50 build is tough because I want to take too much stuff.
  14. Kinetic melee is great. A while back I made The Worst ScrapperTM as KM/Regen. Then it turned out that Gratuitous Windup was a ton of fun to play, and I leveled him all the way up to 50.
  15. I've got a Rad/SS tanker that I do some S/L farming with. Not super fast since he's still working up the incarnate abilities, but he can AOE minions while rage punching the EBs fast enough to not feel like a slog.
  16. Thank you so much for posting this! I just made a plant/sav dom myself since so many people in my thread about a secondary for dark kept saying how awesome it is, and was looking for build advice. I'm not an expert by any means, but I'll post what I came up with for mine. I'm only at level 28, so it's more of a wish list with the enhancements. The only real difference between what my guy currently has and you do is that I put 2 pieces of Ascendancy into three powers rather than 3 into two. I didn't think the 40 hit points was worth losing mez enhancement for an extra power. Also, Kinetic combat is a nice melee set that's fairly cheap and has nice set bonuses at only four slots. It's what I'm currently slotting in maiming and vicious slash (they're the alternate slotting in Mids).
  17. The Midnight Fister would be glad to know he touched you like that. With his story, I mean.
  18. Here's a few of mine. I tend to push the puns and plays on words into the bio (where I assume hardly anyone will see them) Gratuitous Windup-Kinetic Melee/Regen Scrapper. If you've seen KM, you'll get it. My greatest wish for him is to have his T9 attack land on something that isn't already dead. Charging Cattle-Electric/Shield Scrapper Midnight Fister-Street Justice/Energy Aura
  19. I'd want something like the zone events in Guild Wars 2. They have a kind of decision tree to them where there's an initial event in the zone, but how the players handled it determined how the event progressed. For example bandits would attack a local farm and the players not dealing with it lead to the zone's minor town being attacked and then the major one (they never take over or destroy the town of course, so players can still quest. There are just more bandit mobs running around.) On the other hand, defeating the bandits pushes them back to a camp and then their main hideout.
  20. It's for the good of the player community though. When I think of overpowered characters, my mind goes straight to my Kinetic Melee/Regen scrapper.
  21. I did look at /savage and the only reason I took it off the table is my arbitrary "I want to try new sets" rule since I already have a brute with savage. I know they're not exactly the same, but I didn't find the dom version compellingly different. I completely agree that savage is great fun and really feels like you're dishing it out.
  22. What about whirling hands? I'm not sure if it's awesome because it has a decently long recharge to trigger procs and gets instant recast with energy focus, or if it's a trap to make me burn up a third of my END bar on two mediocre AOE attacks. Does the instant recharge change time being zero make the proc chance zero? Any epic pool suggestions? And thanks for the reply!
  23. I want to make another alt that's a dom. I already have a Fire/Earth dom, but wanted to branch off ofr this one. I have a semi-rigid rule to minimize power re-use, so dark is what I'm using for the primary. Like the title says though, I'm not sure about the secondary. I'm leaning towards /dark or /energy, but feel free to chime in with another option if you think it's a must have. I'm not looking for build since A) I'm not entirely sure about the power and haven't even made one to submit for inspection and B) leveling builds aren't 50 builds. Again, feel free to toss one in though. I'm sure a future dom will appreciate finding it in the archives even if it's not what I choose in the end. Preamble aside, how far off base am I in how the secondaries work? Dark: seems much more ranged than the /earth set is. Seems like the character would be hovering at the edge of the battle dropping DoTs, debuffs, and CC while waiting for a target to swoop in and throw a punch at. Energy: a bit more of a melee fighter, but I can't tell if energy focus coming off regular attacks is worth chasing. Only one energy attack (and boxing with kick if I spend the slots for it) has stun and after the stun I'd need energy focus to proc. I'm not sure most mobs will last that long when doing missions with a group, and the EB and AV that have long fights are tough to stun in the first place.
  24. A few. I started a thread about hideless stalkers last week and got some good replies amidst the people telling me that hide is a good and useful skill for stalkers. I've been fooling around with one in Mids (as best I can without it updated for page 5), but haven't made it because I have enough alts in progress as it is. Funnily, I was thinking DB for the primary like your is since I don't have a melee character with it and I think the dual chainsaws would be a funny option for stalker without hide.
