  1. I guess as an alternative for the people that don't want to make their own base, it's ok. It absolutely shouldn't replace the current base system. I'd be ragequit the game angry if all the time I put into my (crappy) base vanished in a puff of smoke and were replaced with that. Honsetly, it's a bummer that the Shining Stars arc doesn't have a little base building tutorial seeing as one of the themes is them getting their own base. I suspect it couldn't really be done in the game.
  2. No AOE can have it's radius increased. You can only improve the distance you can toss/throw/shoot it.
  3. My 50s tend to go on the back burner because I keep making alts. I ended up using this mapserver to get all my alts (about three tabs worth) up to level 35. That lets all of them get the patron pools, join the Vanguard for MSR, and explore Cimerora to get there easily to do ITF. Now I have a spring/summer project to get everyone to 50 and then pick some to get all the incarnate stuff on them. Basically, it's fine to have characters you don't really play. Put them in a tab at the back and get back to them when you're sick of playing your other characters. If that never happens, free shrugs. You have 1,000 slots so you're not running out of room.
  4. I can hide player names. I can hide villain names. But I somehow -need- to have pet names clogging up my screen? There's absolutely no reason for this when I have all other names turned off.
  5. I thought it was an Elton John song. "Hold me close, attuned enhancers"
  6. My characters all self-fund until level 40 just for the challenge. The one exception is that stealth characters can dip into the inf fund to get ATT. Once they're in AP, it's straight to Pocket D to visit Null the Gull. Then the P2W vendor (or whatever she's called now) to get double XP and the other goodies. From there, my preference is to hop on a "taking any level" mission team, or the backup plan is go Punch a handful of Hellions in AP until level 2. Not strictly necessary but gives you an extra power right away for step 2. Do DFB. Since you leveled up to 2 already, you're not one of the people that has to immediately run back to the trainer after the first group. Do DFB again. The second one is just to hit level 8. Two DFB runs should also give me enough enhancements to sell and buy Reveal. (huge quality of life improvement). The rest of the inf is seed money to start selling converters later. Lead a Posi 1. Nice and easy at level 8 since there won't be any ruin mages. On melee toons, I'll turn the merits to converters and sell them if I can grab a cheap KB protection for those stupid ruin mages. Posi 2. Yin. By the end of Yin, I'll be leveled enough to start slotting the level 25 white IOs if I feel lacking in anything. Otherwise, I'll suck it up until 27 when I definitely stop, sell merits, and grab level 30 whites to fill everything up.
  7. I'd love to have plaques like under the Atlas statue where I can write the text box. Aside from self guided base tours, having a list of where the waypoints go would make the base more user friendly.
  8. I have wished for this so many times, or alternately to be able to ctrl-click as many powers to autofire as I want would be a game changing QoL improvement. I could play the character instead of having to keep all the plates spinning.
  9. That's along the lines of what I originally thought of, but I didn't like the look of colored water powers. Instead I made Prismatic Pugilist with a rainbow of brightly colored dark melee and fire armor powers.
  10. To contribute to the thread, Fists Galore-Kinetic/Energy stalker Shiny Metal Arsenal-Arsenal/Arsenal dom Kill-Aid Man-Ice/Ice brute To contribute to the community, the following names are available as I'm tying this since I just got rid of the characters. Shivered Timber. Was going to be a pirate themed storm/plant pirate controller. Ended up as the druid themed Briar Storm instead. Pollock Jackson. Was going to be my "colorful darkness" toon, but couldn't think of a good fish theme.
  11. What next? Ordering a pizza over the phone and talking to another human?
  12. I have a ton of alts, so this is just a selection. Shiny Metal Arsenal, Blue Dauber: contact or "mission helper" to go after Arachnos Guiding Blade: contact for an arc of missions against the Lost themed as rescuing them. Woods Warden, Briar Storm: contacts in Eden to fight Devouring Earth. Possibly also northern Talos or Peregrine to clear out the islands in the north part of each Chunky Cherub: Valentine's Day missions. Steam Punker: Main contact in my reimagined Synapse part one TF that takes place in Boomtown. Shoots and LADDERS: Vanguard contact in RWZ
  13. I play on a laptop and do the same, but when you try and implement your strategy expect a chorus of "that's not how I do it" and "well we're already at the last hero" as they don't stop. They also say lots of bad words that hurt my innocent eyes to see after I kick them for it. Not right away of course. The kick comes after we beat the shadow doubles.
  14. Or they got go to rescue the fourth hero while the rest of the team is clearing the stairs and tries to blame the rest of the team for the early door trigger. EDIT: Fixed the typo.
  15. Directions need to be unambiguous. When they aren't you can practically guarantee that someone will get it wrong. Someone doing Posi 1 for the first time that gets told "Stay off the stairs" and later "Let's clear the stairs" can pretty naturally think that second one meant they can go anywhere. Then they accidentally trigger the ambush and get yelled at even though they didn't really do anything they weren't told.
  16. I'd like to see more MM primaries. In a sense, most MM primary powersets are modified versions of corruptor primaries (robots/beam rifle; thugs/DP, etc.) which gives a nice starting point. For example, coming up with a Devouring Earth MM, could just be a modified corruptor seismic set. Keep Shatter, Entomb, and Upthrust; use existing assets for the pet tiers; two upgrade powers; and a pet buff. I'd like to see it go the other way too. Demons and Beasts don't have a corruptor equivalent and I think they'd be great additions. The first would give is the whip based powerset we've all wanted for years, and the second would be an interesting "Nature Blast" set that would open up nature/nature corruptors and defenders.
  17. This is part of the backstory for my bird Arch/TA blaster. "What do you mean I can't be called Hawkeye? I'm literally a hawk!"
  18. I think it would be easier to explain to a new player that slots are for future expansion and not something that needs to be filled right away. It's so easy to blow through early levels, and once that slows down they should be at the point where a white IO is better than an equal level SO. Enhancements are analogous to equipment in other MMOs, but it's not an exact one to one thing. It's perfectly viable to run around "naked" in CoX at low levels and only slot your drops and recipes you craft yourself.
  19. Now I want a version with extra powers instead of the pets as a corruptor primary/defender secondary slime set.
  20. I would go with a tank. Willpower, Invulnerability, or Shield as the primary. Those are set it and forget it sets (shield gets neat toys later), so you can focus on your attacks and positioning instead of fiddling with toggles refreshing abilities. I'd take dark as secondary. If the dark emo look doesn't fit the character theme, you can make it bright pastels if you like. Any secondary works though, so it's more important that you pick something that looks cool and you want to play. Some with more complex mechanics/behavior you may not like: Dual Blades, Kinetic Melee, Titan Weapon. Those are perfectly viable attack sets, but need extra attention and timing to get the most out of them. A brute is a viable choice too. They just have a different playstyle than the other melee classes where they greatly benefit from continuously attacking. You be continually using inspirations to keep up health and end so you can Keep. On. Attacking. All. The. Time. to keep your fury up. You'll also slot your powers slightly different that the other ATs. A brute doesn't care about damage. You just need accuracy to hit more, recharge to hit faster, and endurance reduction to keep hitting longer. Also, since you're soloing here are some guides on seeing lots of story content in the game. I've done both and liked them a lot. Blueside: Redside:
  21. I'm 100% onboard for more Kheldian content. I'd like to see the Shining Stars comeback in the late game. They're a junior varsity supergroup for some tutorials and a story arc early on, and then (for admittedly good reasons) they vanish. I like the characters though and doing more with them would be cool. Maybe they could be investigating the Kheldians and get in over their head with the Council? The exact details aren't important. J just want a TF or another arc with Dillo and the gang. HOORB!
  22. It's gotten mobbed by haters saying I could just alter the game files change what I see, but I'd love a ton of power reskin options. Then MM pet switches don't have to mess up the balancing. You'd just chose what the minions are for the different powers. It'd also make it less of a chore to add new pet options. They don't need to make clows powerset, they just need to make clown models.
  23. I overwhelmingly to team instead of solo, so YMMV. I haven't watched @serxiom's video, but it's likely good stuff. Do that if it's different from me. I have dom as my auto power, so as soon as it fills up it goes off. I also only have phantom army, so no KB. The general sequence is -Hasten if it's up. -Deceive. Multiple times if I think it's needed -Summon dudes. -Caltrops macro. This is where stealth is lost. Here's the macro if you want it: /macro_image "MartialAssault_Caltrops" "Caltrops" "powexec_location forward:5 Caltrops" -Gleam or flash or both. -Start melee. As needed mix in mezz, trick shot, and exploding shuriken. If you pop a yellow, it cures blind just like break free does with stun, hold, etc.
  24. I'm hardly an expert, but I just finished getting an Ill/Mart dom to 50 yesterday, and our builds are very similar. The only real difference is that I dropped spinning kick and put the slots into regular kick because I was sick of spinning kick missing, I also have force feedback procs in kick and cross punch that get phantom army almost permanent if I can stay busy whaling on mobs. In place of spinning kick I have caltrops slotted with the damage procs from Positron and bombardment plus the -res proc from annihilation. Along with a macro to drop them right in front of me, they're a nice damage boost.
  25. His entire point was that they're not explicitly magical in way the tech ones are technological. Can you come up with a non-silly magical robot pet or assault rifle powers with mercs?
