  1. Unfortunately not 😞 The event is very intricate and manually run, and we've only got limited time on our hands. It's not possible to do it in two places at once which is why we're doing different dates on different shards. Each Kalisti Wharf instance supports 200 players (higher than any other zone) and even then, the server struggles to keep up with everything. This is our first attempt at doing something like this - if it goes well, we'll certainly look to do more runs the next time around!
  2. Does your phone beep whenever I post? 🙃
  3. We're internally testing much of Page 6 at the moment. I don't want to give a timeframe because people's situations can change very quickly at the moment, but it's definitely not never.
  4. Hey all, Just wanted to provide a brief update on our situation. First, some background: Once you're hosting for more than a few hundred concurrent players, the resources required to host a server need to be spread over multiple physical machines (instead of all being virtualized on one machine). In order for this to work it's required that these machines are all in their own private network - however when renting hardware this needs to be virtualized. OVH is one of the few hosts that provide a compatible technology (vRack) at a reasonable price - and unfortunately, it's this part of our infrastructure that we have the least control over, and by extension something we aren't able to build redundancy for. Most of the issues over the past few days have been a result of the vRack connections between the individual machines being disrupted (either directly or because of wider network issues). As you may have noticed, Reunion and Everlasting have been mostly unaffected. After investigation we've discovered that machine hosting Everlasting's database server is located on a completely different server rack to the machines that host Torchbearer, Excelsior and Indomitable (and, of course, Reunion is across the pond!). So - we're re-configuring a few things and moving TB, Excel and Indom's database servers to the 'good' rack and taking the machines on the 'bad' rack offline. This means that we will be running with reduced redundancy, so here's hoping the good rack remains good 🙂 No ETA just yet - we'll let you know when there is one. In the meantime we're in contact with OVH to try and get the issues with the bad rack resolved. Long term we are also going to be investigating alternative hosting providers to try and avoid these issues going forward.
  5. This has been fixed internally, but the next batch of powers fixes might not be out for a little while.
  6. @GM Arcanumis slowly getting through them. If he's liked a post in that thread it means he's fixed it.
  7. Miscellaneous Several text fixes to missions, powers, and badges These fixes are being pulled from this thread, please post there if you find any text issues!
  8. It's another minor update on staging - just haven't gotten around to posting the thread yet!
  9. As others have said, these things take time even when the deal is in simple, well-trodden territory. This isn't simple, and it's certainly not well-trodden territory. It'll also probably not surprise you to learn that Coronavirus hasn't had a positive impact on the speed of this process 🙂
  10. A few posts have been hidden. It may surprise you to learn that bickering is not the purpose of this thread, so please try to avoid it 🙂
  11. It's a minor update just on staging right now with a few crash fixes. Should be on live soon - it's client side only so won't require a server restart.
  12. My understanding is that Rosetta 2 should be sufficient enough to handle for a while yet. As @macskullmentioned, the original Rosetta (used during Apple's transition from PowerPC to Intel) was supported for around 6 years worth of OS updates, so assuming they follow a similar path here then you should be good for at least that long (and even then you'll be fine if you don't update). And of course you will continue to have the option to dual boot. Difficult to comment beyond that right now though, still very early days in that regard and I am by no means an expert when it comes to OS X.
  13. Several colourful replies have been deleted, and this thread is being locked for obvious reasons. Please enjoy your time elsewhere.
  14. Hello everyone - it's been a while since our last update, so there's a few things to go over! New Dev Choice Arcs in Architect Entertainment First up, we've got two brand new Dev Choice arcs for you to look at! Rularularian (Arc ID 848) by @Ankylosaur: We all know the story of how The Omega Team sacrificed themselves to close the portal during the Rikti War, thus saving Paragon City. What ever happened to these mysterious 50 heroes? Discover this player's take on what took place on the other side of the portal and how they connect to this mysterious new group called "The Rularularians" in this exciting story arc! River of Fire! (Arc ID 26057) by @Clairvoyance: This was a great little arc involving the villain group, "The Hellions". We discover there are portraits suddenly combusting into flames all around Paragon City! During the ensuing chaos, the Hellions have been swooping in and robbing the place...almost as if it were part of a master plot! Team up with our quirky contact, Max Action, as we attempt to figure out how the Hellions are pulling off this feat and put an end to their villainy! Check out GM Arcanum's post for the full details, as well as information about submitting your own arcs for consideration. Stress Test: Miss and Arcanum's Monster Mash Monday! (June 15th) We're making some changes to our supporting hardware this month. This doesn't impact any of our core infrastructure that the live shards are running on, it's mainly a reconfiguration our the hardware used by our web services, tools, and the testing / development shards. For more details, check out Telephone's excellent breakdown of the changes here. In order to help test the new hardware for the beta shard, GM Miss and GM Arcanum are running a Monster Mash stress test event on Monday evening, at 4pm EST (8pm UTC) on the Brainstorm shard. Please join us if you can - you may even win some prizes! Monthly Costume Contest: Reverse! (June 27th) Come join us at 5pm EST (9pm UTC) Saturday June 27th in Kallisti Wharf on all shards for our first ever reverse themed costume contest! What does that mean, I hear you ask? We want you to create the silliest, funniest, most off the wall, interesting, whimsical, odd and erratic masterpiece you can think of. As usual, a myriad of prizes will be up for grabs - check out this thread for the full details. And starting this month, you will be able to judge the GM's costumes! After each monthly costume contest, the GM entries will be posted up on the forum for everyone to judge. Please be gentle. Memory Contest! (Now until July 1st) MIss wants your memories! To be more specific, we're hosting a contest where we're asking you to post your favourite CoX-related memory - from any point in time, not just in Homecoming. Take a look at Miss' post for more details! Lastly, I posted a small update on our recent quietness here. TL;DR: We're all still here, but real life has been getting in the way. There's a lot going on behind the scenes, and hope to get back into the swing of things soon! - The Homecoming Team
  15. Unfortunately we don't feel this thread can continue without heavy supervision, and we need to step away and focus on other things now, so we will be locking this thread. Thank you to everyone who kept civil whilst discussing this, and we're sorry that you're not able to continue here.
  16. Correct. Note how all of his other posts are still visible and free of warnings, regardless of how much we may disagree with him. Don't cry censorship when it's your own behaviour that's at fault. It just makes you look silly 🙂 Everyone: We know this is a emotionally charged topic, but it's critical that everyone keeps their cool or we will need to lock this thread.
  17. Monthly registration, monthly active accounts and average concurrent players have all increased significantly this year, as you may expect. Things have dipped a little bit in the last month as lockdowns worldwide have eased, but we're still about 30% busier than we were in December. So... it's possible a handful of vocal people are talking about leaving, but in reality there's been no noticeable drop in population.
  18. We're all still alive - real life has just been incredibly busy for many of us in recent months. Most of this is due to (or made signiciantly worse by) Coronavirus-related problems, and some of it just really bad timing. For the moment we're having to prioritise the small amount of free time we have available for the project, which means some things aren't getting much attention. The talks are still ongoing, and as that's the most important thing for the long-term goals that Homecoming has, it is the priority. From a development standpoint there's several things which are in progress (some of which are nearly ready for testing), but right now we don't actually have the capacity to run live development, testing and iteration on those features (see the Enhancement changes being stuck in limbo for an example of this). Once that capacity returns we'll start to see stuff hitting the test servers again. Whilst all of this is going on it's still a priority of ours to ensure the consistent and stable operation of the server. Our fantastic GM team has been critical in facilitatin this, so please be sure to thank them if you see them around 🙂 Can we really update the game without nerfing regen?
  19. Something that's incredibly important to point out is that you do not see warnings issued to other users. Another person being an asshole does not excuse your behaviour. If you stoop to their level, both of you will get actioned - you just won't see the warning the other user gets. As a matter of policy, we do not discuss disciplinary actions involving individual users unless they decide to discuss it publicly. If you have a concern about a specific incident, please raise a support ticket and we'll investigate.
  20. I've hidden a bunch of posts that quoted an email address - please be careful about posting your personal info!
