I think there's a hidden benefit to Cross Punch in that it ups your Recharge Rate after using it, if you've also taken Kick and Boxing? Someone better than me can say for sure. @Bopper?

Yeh, slot out Radiation Therapy and Ground Zero with procs/dmg. They are both very very nice added AOE. This is how I did it on my /Rad scrapper. Also people are proccing the AOE immobs for damage which, while it pales in a team setting, they get used to solo. So they spam the immobs.

This is my Dark/Savage/Ice dom. The end-game build I use above 40. I had to have a switchable lower-level build for TFs and (I'd assume) leveling. Both below. Note that a petless build is totally viable at 40+ and the key (IMHO) to Savage is stacking FF +recharge buffs (Call Hawk, Savage Leap) and procs. Also Heart of Darkness is your delicious proc-nuke - under domination it has plenty of mez without including mez. The high-level build effectively soft-caps Def (S/L/R) with the -to hit debuffs from Dark powers. Note the high-level build (with the recharge procs and general recharge) can do just fine with Savage Leap, Vicious Slash, Call Hawk, Rending Flurry and dark powers. I found the cone (Unkindness) underwhelming at 40+ whereas at low levels it can be nice. Ah OK cool. I didn't realize you were meleeing on a blaster. Do you build for melee/ranged def soft-cap or just chug purples and greens? I wouldn't have thought a blaster could stand up to the hits that inevitably get through, even soft-capped. I've taken other blasters into farms that only have S/L/R def softcapped and they have a hard time surviving (esp fire farms). If you have a build, just curious to see it. Cheers.

Out of curiosity, don't enemies still reach you if you fly at ceiling cap? Even if you soft-cap range? I imagine Ice for Blizzard being targetable and having a much bigger target cap. Why Fire if you're flying?

I'm enjoying my EM/Rad/Fire which I put together to try to offset EM's single-targe with AOE from Rad (slotting Ground Zero and also Rad Therapy for damage) and for getting the crit on Fireball. I'm using Meltdown with high uptime for the +45% dmg buff which is highest on scrappers. Tore through a bunch of speed TFs last night (TinPex, ITF, Dr. Kahn) and it really felt like I was making a difference. It may not be the most damage vs. Bio Armor or the best EM on melee (maybe Stalker) but it's a fun combo and surely worth a shot if you have never tried Rad. The Scrapper +crit in TF seems to go off a lot, and I usually follow it up with Fireball or BS / Firebast for the crits vs ET which doesn't seem to get as much benefit from the crit (I think it's crit damage is capped?). I can't overemphasize the benefits of +rchrg procs for DP, due to recharge time on Hail of Bullets. Also proccing is very effective in upping your damage.

This is my DP/Martial. Soft-cap to S/L/E. Couple points: 1) Suppressive Fire if procc'd out is a great fast-animating attack. 2) At 50 my ST-chain is basically Executioner's, Storm Kick, and Suppressive. WIth sprinklings of AOE for +rchrg. I keep Eagle's Claw for style. 3) I would have dumped Eagle's Claw if not for style points - this is not my most min-max blaster. It would be better to slot up Reaction Time, if you're looking for slot use. 4) FF +rchrg procs in Storm Kick, Dragon's Tail and Bullet Rain are the bomb. 5) I like the -res chance in Burst of Speed for groups. But losing slots here wouldn't be the end of the world. 6) and oh yeah, I keep Inner Will on autofire and manually click hasten. Fun fact - decimation chance of build up in Thunderstorm should proc basically every time you summon it, giving you 5 secs of build-up to blast/nuke afterwards. I attached my water blaster build for some thoughts on procs in water attacks. I attached my energy/storm defender build for some thoughts on /storm slotting. I did a pretty unoptimized run on my EM/Rad/Fire scrapper in 6min. Rad Armor seems pretty well built for these mobs. Being blinded was the biggest inconvenience. The AOE of Rad (the way I slotted Rad Therapy and GZ) helps (with Fireball) take out the minions/Lts, while EM basically destroys the bosses. Especially Trapdoor. I'm sure I could get the time down if I wasn't on my laptop and got a few more runs in to get a better feel for the mish. The key thing though is I never really felt I was in danger of dying at all - just no fears on that front. -

I just tried this and had about the same experience on my Rad/SS/Soul tank ... i also farm with him when I need to PL toons. He's really a buzzsaw/invuln for this type of mish, with the AOE from Dark Oblit, Foot Stomp, Ground Zero, Rad Therapy ...plus double-stack rage. Fun times. -
Here's my current Fire/Atomic with proc'd attacks and S/L/R ~45% def (soft cap). You can sub in Ice powers and see if it helps. I find softcapping S/L really helps on /Atomic as Beta Decay means you want to be in the thick of mobs a lot, to debuff them and get the +recharge. One of the great things about this build -- and how I use it -- is the alternate KDs from Force of Thunder and Thunderstrike to keep mobs flopping as Rain of Fire works its magic on them. They can't run when they're on their backs. RoF->FoT->Fireball->Thunderstrike is fun for the whole family and AOE goodness.

I didn't build it yet but this is something I was messing around with. I think I got it from Nihili or someone here (maybe a Defender version). I think with Ageless the Overgrowth is nearly perma. Maybe it could be done better. I know it built for resists, with decent early uptime on RoP. This is what I've been messing around with on Live lately. I switched to Blaze mastery which really was a toss up with Mu -- gave up the snipe for Fire Blast in order to get Fireball. Fireball is a bit stronger than Ball Lightning, but you have to spend another power to get it (1 slotted Fire Cages for those pesky bosses/AVs you need to immob, like Dir 11). If I had gone Mu, I probably would have taken Tactics. I didn't obsess about 75% capping more resists, N/T are close enough. I went for uptime on Meltdown. Fireball can crit which is nice - TF to proc Crit Strikes, Fireball, Rad Therapy (proc'd) and Ground Zero (proc'd) wipes a lot of spawns, with fast ET queued for clean up. I figure on teams there will be enough buffs going around to cap Res and push the Def numbers high enough. I am bidding on and carrying Lucks (the middle one) as basically my only inspi load out - easier to carry inspis then sacrifice for more Def. Proc'd attacks are likely better when teamed too, since buffs will put you towards damage and/or recharge. I went with the Rikti tree for the unkillable Rikti Lt who casts AM on you (like 3 times when he's out). Build is a bit painful when exemp'd as you have like 2 attacks (EP and BS) plus Rad Therapy. I'll probably make an exem'd build if I plan to do a lot of lower level TFs. On teams for WST, you'll be carried more or less. On my live build I moved the Critical Strikes proc into TF, and put the Touch of Death proc in Bone Smasher. When it goes off (feels like slightly more in TF) it seems to be able to include Fast ET and Moonbeam or BS in its effects, but ET doesn't seem to really crit for much -- maybe a factor of Fast ET is that extra crit damage is limited. I like your idea of looking at Fireball, I'll look at that.

Well, the way I slotted ET it was about at least 3 damage procs, so probably not. I barely use Energy Punch, hence it's a good set mule. I haven't gotten the chance to really sit down and look at things. I will say this, Whirling Hands sucks balls. So I'd be inclined to skip it maybe on a rebuild if the slots can do better things elsewhere, along with the power picks. It's got such a tiny radius it barely hits things, and the damage is terrible (even with the -Res proc). So if you can use the slots somewhere else for better bonuses, think about it.

Thanks! I will check it out (it's a very busy work week). I will say that I will have to struggle hard to consider de-proccing Radiation Therapy and Ground Zero -- they are great damage deals when proc'd and honestly one of the reasons I went /Rad for this Scrapper. The non-proc'd or less-proc'd versions showing above are doing <50% or less damage in MIDS on quick review. My whole idea was to supplement the ST of EM with the /AOE proc-bombs from Rad (especially considering their target caps, with GZ at 30 and RT at 10+) . As you've noted, the fraken-proc-slotting means you give up some set bonus opportunities. Just wanted to provide context. I'll see what else I can pick up from your approaches. Thanks @Incursion I will check out your suggestions. Below is my current Live build, I've been running +4/+8 PI mishes to test it out. What I'm noticing is an accuracy problem, maybe only with mobs that do to-hit debuffs, but that includes Council Galaxies (I think) plus a lot of Arachnos and Carnies. I'm wiffing in the 60%-80% hit range a lot, it feels. Might be feeling the missing Kismet - might have to sub out the scaling resist IO from Reactive Def and pop in Kismet. Meltdown was kept not only to cap resists across the board but for its 41.25% damage buff on Scappers (higher than other ATs). So basically it's used pro-actively for the +dmg buff. It seems to last like 60-75 seconds, so I will have to think about dropping it. I don't have it on my Rad Armor tank -but one reason for rolling Rad on scrap was this damage buff. What I will say is that Rad Therapy and especially Ground Zero are amazing proc bombs, and you can melt whole spaws with WH-RT-GZ-WH. GZ is a proc nuke that also has a strong DOT component. Also maybe it's observer error but I do see the Critical Strikes proc going off more in Total Focus than it was in BS. It makes the TF->FastET smack like a truck when it hits. Sure you miss the critical proc on TF itself, but the rate feels higher.
