Survivability was OK given that you pain the mobs with Fearsome Stare -- my build had like 38% def to S/L/R before applying FS to-hit debuffs and the other to-hit debuffs of dark powers, amplified if you used Gather Shadows first (since it's like power boost). Engulfing Darkness and HOD both gave good to-hit buffs over a decent PBAOE area. The issue was more damage feeling anemic, which is why I shelved the toon.

HOD is also a pretty good proc-nuke at the moment. Since you're under permadom you don't really need to slot it for mez. I posted my take on Dark/Dark a month or so ago, fwiw - maybe it gives you some ideas:

Yes, it does. Allowed Enhancements for the power include "Enhance Knockback" so it slots FF.

Idk, i managed to soft-cap S/L def and flash arrow is still pretty well slotted. Also attacks are pretty well proc'd. It's fun to play but damage is still, even with procs, not that awesome.

My understanding is power boost no longer affects Farsight on time (that's what I read on the boards), which is another reason I went for Clarion ('cause it does). -

My Water/Plant blaster build is in the blaster forums (probably find it if you search my username). I skpped Hydro. I took Steam Spray, which I have found surprisingly useful at lower levels and exemp'd TFs. Hydro was the only thing I skipped on the water side. On my Fire/Time corr for comparison, I skipped both Fire blast (the Hydro equivalent) and the narrow cone Fire Breath. Steam Spray has a much wider arc (50 deg vs. 30 deg) and will the Artillery IO set you get +range which spreads it out further towards the cone end. -
Poison/Sonic def sounds interesting, especially if there is a proc'd out build (esp. for Screech and Siren's Song?) and maybe incorporates the new TP pool for Fold Space. Buildmeisters? I presume you'd want to build for S/L def since you'll be in melee, and for the same reason skip the cones in primary/secondary? Hm now that I think about it, a secondary with fewer cones and more targetable aoe / pbaoe could be better, given you're going to be standing in melee (I presume) to drop poison trap and venemous gas ... maybe water really is the best choice, then.

Neru helped me with my Water/Plant build and I really like Plant for a hover blaster (ranged). I haven't changed the build up after the new issue.

I took Clarion on my Fire/Time because it also boosts Farsight's numbers. I kept Rune of Protection for (a) exemping down (TFs etc) and (b) for the resists-on-demand. -

There was a pretty awesome Thugs/Storm build bandied about the boards (give it a search). One neat thing about Thugs is Gang War is one power that really gets mileage out of Burnout, if you want to do something different (moreso with Storm).

I posted about my experience with a Dark/Dark dominator in the dom forum. TLDR = felt a bit awkward and weak to me, given the strongest attacks require you to be in melee and still have relatively lengthy animations (my Dark/Savage dom plays much better). I'd not move dark/dark dom to the top of your list. -

Arcane Bolt's cast time seems very long to me, almost unbearbly so, and the damage seems weak (even with FS and containment) -- my $0.02 from my fire/kin troller at 50++. I have it on my power tray and almost never use it vs. Seismic Smash and Fissure and recasting fire cages, bonfire etc. I may switch it out for Enflame, good tip. -
Here's a log from a group of 5 malta followed by 2 malta, to the extent this helps see proc chances on RoA and other powers. My RoA has 3 damage procs and the -RES proc. They definitely don't seem to go off as much as the procs in Acid Arrow, Explosive Arrow, and the single-taget attacks. But still it is nice when they do, and I suppose if the slots can be spared, worth keeping? And another group:

How can I get Rain of Arrows damage to show in Combat Log, since it's a pet (I think). I tried turning on Pet Damage and General Combat but it still doesn't show up in the combat log.

I have KB->KD slotted in the majority of my Storm/NRG defender powers, incluidng Tornado .. with Lightning Storm I'm using the tip of jumping up when casting it, so the KB happens "down" and doesn't throw mobs....however I left 2 powers unslotted with KB-KD (Sniper Blast and Nova) so I could fit more damage procs ... it's a fair trade off for the big ones (explosive blast, gale, power burst) and frankly I've been putting up with storm and energy toons that never slotted KB-KD forever 😉

I will try to check in game, I haven't been looking. I do see them go off a ton in Acid Arrow and Explosive and Ice Arrow / Blazing / Ranged.

Incoming Trick Arrow buffs - This is not a drill!

I've been running around all weekend with the proc'd out TA/A defender (Rainbowman) I posted in the other thread. At a high level, yes it is busy -- most fights on teams are spent putting out debuffs and finally switching to damage ... the good news about having proc'd stuff out is that Acid Arrow becomes a decent AOE damage power too, and Explosive Arrow gives some AOE control. Still, I find most stuff dying before I get to start using Rain of Arrows unless I selectively trade off between debuffs (glue arrow, I'm looking at you). Most fights are flash arrow, disruption arrow, acid arrow, explosive arrow, and then maybe I start blasting survivors. Other times I open with Oil Slick Arrow and the rest. It's a defender so damage isn't the greatest, but procs help. I don't think teams realize the massive debuffage I'm doing. I held the reactor door during Penny Yin TF basically by myself. -
Honestly on my DP/MC Blaster I just run Fire Ammo and forgeddaboudit, becaue MOAR DMG am I right? There's an argument for using different ammo on Defenders given their higher debuff values (like for Chem rounds).

Hey @Jaegernault.... great write-up for post-patch, thanks for that. I am having trouble replicating your attack chain. What kind of global recharge do you have to be able to get Arc of Destruction to recharge in the Post-Patch chain above? With Hasten and Ageless Core Epiphany at the start of its decay I'm at 192.5% and there still is <1 second gap between Rend Armor and Arc coming off cooldown. And that gets worse as Ageless decays. How do you keep that as a smooth chain running? I'm using the build above. Thanks!
