  1. It is your PUG you can set the terms however you like. A few misconceptions - a level 50 fully enhanced with set bonuses up the wazoo joining a level 20 PUG those set bonuses mostly evaporate unless the build is set for level 20 (unlikely) and the enhancements scale down to level 20 as well. It is likely that you are seeing a player who has been playing for years, has been on the struggle-bus to develop their knowledge and skills and knows how to apply powers effectively. That is all very different to your position learning the hard way to acquire the same thing they have. You could advertise your PUG on LFG as "learning to play, not speedy at all" this would set the right basis to nurture your skill at playing the game.
  2. I suppose the rule of thumb is never adopt new technology or new versions of CPUs etc. Allow enough time to pass then see what the picture is with reliability. For these Intel CPUs I think Intel will do something that allows the CPU to live a little longer notably to beyond the warranty claim window letting the CPU die then instead of inside the window. The policy of all these companies is "just buy another" as long it is you instead of them being screwed out of money. I like ARM and RISC CPUs as a hobby but there is no getting away from x86 architectures for anything serious that requires a lower risk. These two architectures take a long time to get mainlined and their manufacturers make very little effort with software relying on kernels that are years out of date.
  3. You can build however you want but I decided Whitecap was more effective later on. I did start with the intention to take Whitecap @ 24 on a Defender build but moved it up to 20 instead, immediately before Barrier Reef. That way the build had enough going on to make Whitecap the most effective it could be with resistances, defense, accuracy and defense de-buff. The build works very well. On random teams Marine Affinity is popular more than Assault Control was when it appeared.
  4. Marine Affinity is a ridiculously hyper-powered set when played to the fullest including Whitecap. While there is something positive to be said about building for ranged defense, it is only a small part of the whole picture in the journey of learning how to create effective builds. This is true for any AT with any combination of powers. MA itself includes many tools to protect against what might happen on execution of Whitecap. It is probably a better idea to take Whitecap in the mid-20s over when it is available at level 6.
  5. I appreciate the work that goes on behind the scenes for both the regular bug fix patches and new content page issues. Same for the open beta testers that get involved identifying both bugs and anything they feel feedback needs to be given. What deters us from getting involved is how the open testing process has been mismanaged in the past and the elephant in the room of the closed beta testing group who get a heads up on what is coming up but allow easily identified issues to go to open beta and be resolved there.
  6. Flight pool with enhancements distance no barrier. Point and burn. Prestige/temporary travel power, or pool travel power other than flight? Distance becomes a factor in saying "Nope". Players drop TT to go around the corner.
  7. Two things to be aware of massive energy hit + endurance can be stopped causing de-toggle. Also as the tank you determine the order in which the towers are taken down that depends mostly on your primary. Any power set can cruise through the encounter with LR with a bit of mindfulness. Super-Reflexes was the set that gave me the most problems with LR, always a merry dance.
  8. Eight hours and no comments are you losing your reporting gift of the gab, Snarky? Better to die early in a MoLRSF and get it over with and give up than get to the final fight and die. It sounds to me the problem was a typical thing here i.e. a player or players overestimating their capability as a player, not the AT or power sets. Go in raging hot thinking they can non-stop win but hit the brick wall. All sinking and no swim.
  9. And therein the ruination of many TF/SFs -- XP greed that destroys all fun. "Oh-ho-ho we're rolling BTW I turned up the difficulty to +3/4 just before we entered without asking" team repeatedly wipes. That may not be what the OP was describing perhaps all their teams consented. If it was with consent from team I would stick around but when the difficulty is changed without the consent of the team I will not stay to enable a moron to overcome their dumb decision.
  10. Well, bravo but you are "speaking for yourself" you need to acknowledge the other point of view I expressed is shared many times in this post.
  11. I think you could develop and define some test cases and try them. What triggers the reward table without an incarnate component roll? What triggers no reward table? Try joining a BAF then when the cut-scene begins immediately logout wait for the BAF to finish then login again see what pops up? What notice do you get? Does it say you were not active for long enough to receive a reward? There is code already in the game that denies reward if participation did not reach the required level. For example, you join a mission team and enter a mission the others have mostly completed you receive no completion reward.
  12. What would help is if the Flashback system was changed to allow team members to come and go after the story arc was started. Unless Flashback is being used to run an old retired task force it should not treat the content available with the same rule as a task force (not allowing the leader to invite after the start). I am in the same camp as others go direct to 50 via help from a specialized farming character on another account. It is direct, it is effective, it is efficient. No messing around with level 20, 30 or 40 builds. I would still like to play the lower level content but feel put off with the limitations on Flashback. Repeatedly leveling up to 50 the old fashioned and now practically antiquated method leads only to burnout and quitting. And that is probably the #1 reason so many of the +1 January 2024 new players have quit.
  13. The number of players across all the Homecoming servers is on a trajectory back to where it was before 1 Jan 2024. We've been subject to a lot of new players playing again for the first time since sunset, or never played and wanted to try the game. There is a hardcore of players who keep this game alive that number certainly expanded due to the incursion of new players. I see no failure here only a pattern that was pretty much to be expected. I am not going to tell another player how they should play the game. Unless I am leading a team/league and Snarky joins!
  14. Isn't that the normal rule for loot distribution? A player is picked at random to receive the loot. For GMs may be if the badge for defeating the GM has not been earned yet there can be a 100% drop of a mini pet recipe. That might mean creating a new defeat badge for the Paladin which I think only has a badge for defeating the construction phase. Otherwise normal loot rule is applied. But potential for an exploit?
  15. I think Adamastor pet recipe is under 1M Inf on AH. Spend those monster merits in the Pocket D Aether vendor for random pet recipes. Yes you can 100% never get a pet recipe drop as many will attest after they have defeated hundreds of GMs. 10% drop is 90% no drop and there is no code in the background looking at the overall picture making certain the overall rate per character is 10% (breaking a series of bad luck).
  16. It's not you. The most recent version of MRB has been broken compared to the previous version. Certain damage procs, not all of them, show no change in the calculated damage output of the power when the yellow button is clicked on and off. Some other types of proc and not others have been affected too f.ex tanker ATO +res has no affect clicked on/off. Mids' Reborn v3.7.4 rev 9 Database: Homecoming Database Issue: 27 Page 7 Database Version: 2024.5.759 Running under .NETCoreApp,Version=v6.0 / .NET 6.0.29
  17. No, there is not enough information in the game to learn all about incarnate powers. Read the HC wiki to start with. It describes the powers. Look at the incarnate window and start to figure out stuff. Choose an alpha power to build, build it using shards if you have enough or dip in to threads. You also have Empyrean Merits and Astral Merits you can covert to threads, more Empyrean Merits (from Astral Merits see Luna in Ouroboros or Echo Plaza - this is a popular option) and then in to incarnate components. Another way to get incarnate components (the ones that build from threads) is run that Dark Astoria mission from Ouroboros pillar and flame. Or run the Apex and Tin Mage task forces in RWZ. Or join a BAF or an iTrial. When you reach 50 practically anything you do has a chance for shards and threads to drop. Finally, you will make mistakes with incarnate power choices -- learn from those mistakes ("why did I even pick that?"). I wish there was a way to breakdown power mistakes to threads or components but there isn't a way.
  18. It should be expected by now every new major release of MRB has consistently ended up being an uninstall and fresh new install, at least for me. There is some new cosmetic stuff in the latest version which I thought "Thanks!" then kept using MRB the same old way I have always used MRB. May be one day I will try out those new features? Worryingly there is stuff broken now that was not broken before in the previous major release. The problem is the code is a nightmare to understand and develop upon without breaking something. Two steps forward, fractions of a step backward is the cost. Even though it is not 100% MRB is still workable when you know the bugs old and new and can adapt for them. Without it, many of us would probably give up playing.
  19. Been down the Atta Map and follow the hostage out path what I found was the hostage, while you're on follow, on some runs would teleport through the walls to a different part of the map leaving your farming character stranded. It happened at a high rate. I wonder if that disruption still occurs now? The crossroads parts of the maps are where doom is met the most.
  20. The other part of /noparticles is /unloadgfx use it after using the former.
  21. After years of taking part in Yin PUGs none of that stuff phases me now. The latest Yin stuff I roll my eyes and facepalm at is the new anti-pattern of [Pool.Teleportation.Fold Space] being used. Yin is a like a test bed for all kinds of less effective bad play and this one is when the team moves in to engage and some idiot sucks away the engaged critters. I would not care if this power got deleted from the game or did an auto-aggro on the caster with a -def -res on them too to make them either drop that power or learn to use it properly.
  22. Re: Linux running MRB under Wine Reinistalled, Setup 3748 + spun through further updates, changed options and seems to be ok. Using the auto-update from the previous major version was the same fail that others already noted that pointed me down the same reinstall workaround others already realised (for Windows applies to Linux too). Still cannot read any text in the installer there is one place have to blindly click to accept something. One caveat - I like to set +3 difficulty to check accuracy of attacks the drop down list does not work using just the pointer. It used to work, doesn't now. Instead, open the drop down list with the pointer then use cursor keys to select the difficulty. Further: options changed are turn off auto-update, set directory for builds Something I did notice (and mentioned to the MRB folk on Discord a few weeks ago) was previous version was auto-raising from the background on mouse-over. So far, so good it has not repeated this affect with v3.7.4 Rev 9. Some Windows users noted the same affect might be fixed for them too.
  23. Playing in a window of resolution 3,200 x 1,800 approx. Trays 1-2-3 all the direct action stuff. Tray 4 random, Tray 5 Rez, Mystic, Reveal + stuff for Tray 6 Tray 6 Inspiration combination macros and execution supported by pop-menus that modify target Tray 7 Toggles Tray 8+9 Travel
  24. I think those new iTrial leaders on Excelsior have come from other servers where they have been around forever running them on a Friday/Saturday, they experienced the recent good times with increased population, then the exodus to Excelsior happened (again, as the population diminished on their server) and they followed. There are still a lot of new players running around judging from the types of questions getting asked in Help etc.
  25. It happened yesterday on a Synapse TF one player quit didn't say anything. The team noticed and a mission or two later someone said something about it, then the team collectively shrugged and kept moving along to the end. All this whining is a waste of time nobody should get a penalty focus on what you got and keep going.
