When I make a new toon, I'm always rushing up to level 7-11ish... that's then I can buy SO's and get them slotted and get that significant bump in power. That's when I slow down and start to enjoy the game. But the thing is, the pricing for SO's was never set for starter toons to be able to afford them. I always send 20M inf from an alt to my new toon so I can afford to buy SO's and upgrade them at each level. My suggestion is that we tweak the cost of SO's and and the cost to "upgrade" so that they're affordable by a typical player (playing without 2x XP and inf turned off.) I think we can just drop DO's from the game like they did with generics. I never thought DO's were significant enough to bother with to begin with and SO's are really where the fun begins. Just start selling SO's at level 5 like DO's do now and let the fun begin sooner. This won't affect balance of the game since most all of us can just email ourselves 20M inf.

Passive Procs and their application
Shred Monkey replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
Rest doesn't take sets. I even tried it just to confirm. Good thought though, but I think the original Devs anticipated this trick and squashed it. Especially with the prestiege sprints where you could quickly abuse something x 5. -
Some of the most fun things I've ever done was a group of people getting together to "ebrace the suck." Whenever I do synapse, I usually start making comments about how "I hope the next mission is the one where we get to kill all clockworks in the lab."

I think on Redside, if you form your own teams, you'll easily find people to join. But if you're looking to join others who are forming, that's much more frequent on blueside by far.

Originally I went to the real world for a while, working while getting my MBA, etc.... This began was before sunset. In fact I learned about sunset after the fact and missed out on seeing CoH one last time. I spent a lot of time with Netflix and Amazon Prime as well at that time. I dabbled in DCUO for a while. I did Monster Hunter World for a while as well. Both of those were good games, but I never got into them enough to get to max level/endgame play. Again, real life got in the way more than bad game expiriences. I spent a few years at Champions Online and fully flushed out multiple endgame builds (if you were there, my most notable toon was Collision Theory). I enjoyed it actually, but it really was just scratching the itch that CoH filled so well. Once I got around to logging into homecoming, I never logged back into CO. I nearly went down the rabbit hole of Table Top D&D with online gameplay options... but never really pulled that string completely. Mostly I just spent 3-4 months doing character builds and never playing them. Currently my free-time rotating between CoH, Mountain Biking (weather permitting), Netflix, Duolingo, and Clash Royale.

I remember that April fools gag. That has to be one of the worst jokes/pranks ever. (or does that mean it's the best?... No. No it was bad and I'm still not over it.)

What kind of snacks do you eat while playing?
Shred Monkey replied to Glacier Peak's topic in General Discussion
As I get older, this seems to be the solution to many, many things. -
any plans for a regen overhaul for scrappers/brutes?
Shred Monkey replied to victusfate's topic in Archetypes
I'd like to see the rez turned into something that triggers when you die and lets you keep fighting with negative HP and not die as long as you get back to positive before a timer runs out... maybe even gives a damage boost while below 0. -

I've never tried this, nor talked to anyone who has.. .but there's about 100 versions of this on Amazon. Makes me think someone is buying them anyway, if not using them. -
I could see them giving out a series of non-combat missions, with players doing things that are easy with powers, but not so easy without them. I'm not sure how to make that fun and rewarding, but it'd be thematic. edited... I have an idea on making non-combat missions rewarding... have them give desirable temp buffs.... Like XP multipliers or influence multipliers.

True story... Yesterday (Thanksgiving) my familiy started talking about German and the German language at the dinner table briefly, and how they can "make" wildly specific words by making compound words and prefix/postfix/whatever stuff... (none of us actually know German, so that's probably false or inaccurate... but also not my point). After lunch I sit on the couch, there's a gap between the first and 2nd football game, so I pull up YouTube, and there's a Video #2 in my suggestions about German words the English Language should steal. I've never been so sure that Google is spying on us. Also.... I'm a big fan of Duolingo. I'm (currently in the Diamond Tournamant with 124 Day Streak going.)

I think this thread is just being a playful banter, and not deserving of the ire I'm about to display.... so my apologies in advance. But the OP makes for a good object leason of how so many real world issues get messed up by bad actors in online media. They make a post that is genuinely click worthy, but it's a bait and switch post where they goad you into picking between two options; thier prefered opinion, or something framed to be completely evil or at least grotesquely uncool. Even though there's a thousand other options, most of them better then the two presented. Today's talking head media socialites are not looking for real answers or real discussion with purposeful outcomes. They don't want solutions to the problems we face. They're just trying to suck us into their little rabbit hole of vitriol and hatred to further their own self-serving agendas. So, to answer the OP's question... Yeah.... CoH has made my life better. It's been a happy place for me during some pretty dark stuff in my life. But the internet users who use methods demonstrated by this post, not so much.

Yomo's New and Improved Bang-Up Salmagundi Spectacular!!!
Shred Monkey replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in General Discussion
I missed this thread originally (or quite likely, I misplaced the memory of reading it)... Did anyone else read this and think.... "I like this guy, I should send him a billion influence to contribuite." -
They really missed an opportunity by not having the "cat" show up through a portal at the final battle of endgame and given it an enemy to devour. I'm pretty sure the filming schedule made it so the endgame folks knew next to nothing about the story in Captain Marvel, but that would have been an epic moment and laugh.

I'm going to suggest Dual Pistols... primarily because of Hail of Bullets. This power is your nuke, and it's just the best way I can think of to open a fight. You run into the middle of the spawn and Hail of Bullets for massive PBAoE as your opener. It also briefly boosts your defense to help keep you upright through your animation, although you'll still want to add more defense for best effect. After the big alpha you spin around picking off whatever is left running in all directions. You could do similar things with other sets, but I've always felt like Dual Pistols was made for this playstyle.

Full Procs vs. Limited Procs: A Pylon DPS Comparison
Shred Monkey replied to Ston's topic in Archetypes
That 371 DPS with limited proc's on beam rifle is darn impressive you consider it can do that from full range with little to no sacrifice of other build aspects. -
It looks like he was planning to send it, but chickened out and bailed.

GM are OK as is, with the exception of Lusca who should give more merits because it's a much longer fight. Maybe Seeds of Hami in Praetoria also should get more rewards. 6 merits is a nice reward for a 1 minute fight. But not worth taking 10 minutes and the pain and hastle of organizing a league. However, we do need more battles that take 10 minutes to organize and lead with rewards that make it worth the trouble. I think the incarnate trials fill this gap a bit, and Hami as well. But I'd like to see more.

I'd go another direction to solve this. I'd deactivate the doors at the PI motel. I might even put the Trick or Treat doors on a longer timer so you benefit greatly from constantly moving. The goal would be to make trick or treating require active participation and movement around the city. The hard truth is, while AFK-farming isn't playing as intended, I don't think full leagues of players clicking the same handful of doors 24/7 is either.

Falling in love and expressing how it feels is literally quite possibly the greatest thing in all of human existance. If you find yourself accidentally or intentially arguing against doing that, you should take some time and do some serious self-evaluation.

On Excelcier there's always groups forming. Most filling fast enough that you have to respond quickly or it will fill up before you get in. There's been powerset improvements and additions, and a little bit of content released. I don't think any of the changes have been contraversial to the point of pushing people away. Mostly buffs and rebalancing to underperforming sets. Also some quality of life improvements.
