Aggressively reduce price of basic enhancements
PeregrineFalcon replied to Pleonast's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The Homecoming developers have already said that they intend to make small changes and improvements to the game in keeping with what they believe the original developers could have or should have done. Or words to that effect. That being said, it seems highly unlikely that they're going to substantially change the paradigm just to keep up with the current way of game play. -
Aggressively reduce price of basic enhancements
PeregrineFalcon replied to Pleonast's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I am aware. In the past I've suggested that TOs be repurposed to be level-less SOs that only work for characters below level 22, much like those special enhancements the START vendor gives out. I still believe that would be the better solution to this problem. It's in no way difficult. This is just an excuse and a poor one at that. There's a link to the Homecoming Wiki at the top of this website. And, regardless of whether people want to post on this forum or not, they know that it exists and that it's a source of information. "We should lower the price of SOs because people can't find the wiki and are too scared to read the forums for info" is a ridiculous argument, and you know it. This game doesn't have much in the way of challenge, but removing all challenge kills both community and interest. Having to struggle a bit to be able to afford SOs is a good thing. It's basic human psychology. -
Aggressively reduce price of basic enhancements
PeregrineFalcon replied to Pleonast's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Here we go! So first of all TOs do still exist in game. They just don't drop from enemies but you can purchase them from vendors in supergroup bases. Secondly, the very first character in an MMO struggling because the player doesn't have any money and/or resources, and doesn't yet know how to get them, happens in every MMO. Or at least every MMO that I've ever played. Players know that this will be the case, they will expect it and, if they were smart enough to find City of Heroes and download it, they're smart enough to deal with it. Third, "enhancements aren't explained anywhere in game!!" Neither is Enhancement Diversification or The Rule of Five. Nothing is really explained in game. But, every player knows that this forum exists and they also know that Google exists. We're well past the point where people online can complain "I can't figure out what's going on. Oh, if only there was a source of info about this game." Every person online knows that if they don't know how to handle something in a game they can google it, check the forums, or... *gasp* actually ask a live person a question in game. If someone can't find out info about a 20 year old video game then they're just making excuses. So, no. The developers don't need to reduce the prices of SOs. The economy is this game is already garbage to begin with. People in this game have billions and nothing to spend it on and reducing the price of SOs won't actually help anyone. -
I should have made it clear that I was speaking in general not about you specifically. In fact I was actually agreeing with you. A lot of people on the forums who complain about PuGs fail to even consider the possibility that they are the problem. Like you, I've read a ton of threads over the years complaining about how people act in PuGs and the thread generally devolves into "people on the forums are awesome, everyone else is garbage." Needless to say I don't agree with that point of view.
-
My main is a tank and I spent years leading PuGs on Freedom and Virtue and then on Torchbearer. In all of those years leading PuGs I had maybe a handful of bad experiences. So maybe, just maybe, if you're having a lot of problems with PuGs the problem is you. Nah, that can't be it. We're all perfect. It's those other people who aren't on the forums who are the problem, right?

What does S.T.A.R.T. stand for?
PeregrineFalcon replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
For me it will always be: Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law-enforcement Division. -
PSA: WARNING, DO NOT SAVE KEYBINDS. EVER.
PeregrineFalcon replied to BlackSpectre's topic in General Discussion
Oh man, this new bind system really screwed things up. It sure is a good thing the devs added this to the release candidate just days before sending it live instead of, you know, having it on test server long enough for people to actually test. -
Friends and family have a discord server. We text and chat pretty much every day on that server. I'm also usually in voice chat on Discord whenever I'm gaming. Just last weekend I was gaming together with one son who's in Europe, another who's in Florida and a friend who's in Washington. I love the internet! I'm not on Homecoming's discord server. I quit it last year when I pruned out a lot of servers that I never use.

What does S.T.A.R.T. stand for?
PeregrineFalcon replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
D'oh! You're right. Again. I really shouldn't post when I'm busy at work doing other things. In any case, I'd tell you about this game, but the truth is that it's about communist alien bugs, and "you can't deal with the truth!" -
What does S.T.A.R.T. stand for?
PeregrineFalcon replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
It is indeed a game. It's about defending freedom and democracy from murderous, communist, alien bugs. Want to know more? -

I grind like a bitch, and I still can't keep my holes filled
PeregrineFalcon replied to temnix's topic in General Discussion
People in my SG never have to buy enhancements. Why? Because I craft level 25 IOs and stock the bins in our base with them. I mention this because a lot of SGs do this. This is why you should be in an SG with other people. Also, I'm fairly certain you've been told about sending an email to Yomo for a free gift of 100 million influence. I don't know if he's doing it anymore though. And finally use merits to buy converters to sell on the market and you'll never have Inf problems. -
Yes. Because the market determines worth based solely on value generated not on emotions. Using your emotions to determine value then every nurse and school crossing guard should make way more than Tom Cruise does. The only problem with that is that no economy imaginable could possibly work that way. So yes. Tom Cruise deserves to make as much as ten heart surgeons and the market agrees with me, which is why he does.
-
Yes, Tom Cruise does deserve to make more money than a heart surgeon! Now feel free to tell me why I'm a horrible evil monster.

If I was one of the "rude replies" then I apologize. In my defense I'll say only that I was not happy when it appeared to me that you were calling Ghost a liar. While I stand by what I said about standard forum behavior, perhaps I misunderstood yours. Unfortunately, given constraints here, that's the best that I can explain my actions. Peace.

Right, I saw that. But did it actually fix the issue? -
New Alignment tip drop feedback
PeregrineFalcon replied to Luminara's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Did the new patch fix this issue? I ask because I spent the weekend playing Helldivers 2 with my sons. I love the internet! 😁 -
Oh that's standard procedure on forums, including this one, now days. People will come into a thread, stir up trouble, and then when they get push back they move the goal posts "I don't believe you because your 'tone of voice' that I hear when I read your posts", "I don't believe you because you didn't cite sources", "I don't believe you because your sources aren't credible", etc, etc, etc. And then, when that doesn't work, they report a bunch of posts and cry to the moderators about [REDACTED] and then the mods lock the thread. Unfortunately this has the effect of allowing the crybullies to control what people are allowed to discuss because the moderators go along with it in order to decrease their workload. I keep having these discussions because I'm hoping that if I present facts enough times that eventually some of them will sink in. I think that's what the kids refer to as "gatekeeping."

Not a lecture, just my opinion. What you did was imply that he was lying. Something that you could have proven to yourself wasn't true by spending 60 seconds with Google. So spare me your outrage. Here's another source: https://www.gruvi.tv/post/movie-marketing-budget/#:~:text=The average movie marketing budget, them is no picnic%2C either. "The average movie marketing budget is at least 50% of the production costs." So if the studio spent at least $100 million making Madame Web then they likely also spent around $50 million in advertising and marketing. I say likely because the exact figure isn't public as far as I can tell. This means that overall the studio spent around $150 million on this movie. And it's only made around $80 million. According to the sources the studio has lost money on this movie.

It's still not ok to say that someone's just making stuff up simply because they didn't cite a source. In conversations, both IRL and online, people don't generally act like they're posting to Wikipedia. But ok, you want sources, fine. According to my sources, cited below, Madame Web cost at least $100 million, this means it will have to make at least $250 million just in order to break even. So far it's made about $80 million, and I've rounded up. I'm ignoring advertising spending since I can't find that anywhere. So this means that, even completely ignoring advertising spending, it still needs to make at least another $150 million just to break even. Not going to happen. https://www.cbr.com/madame-web-budget-bigger-sony-marvel/ "While the budget for the Dakota Johnson-starring Marvel movie was previously reported to be in the vicinity of $80 million, The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed that the budget for the latest entry in Sony's Spider-Man Universe was actually "in the low $100 million range, according to several sources." While still not as expensive as most Marvel Studios productions, which typically cost $200M+, the higher budget will still hurt Madame Web in the long run as the movie has so far been unsuccessful at the box office." And IMDB says this: https://www.imdb.com/news/ni64144588/ "The typical break-even point is around 2.5x the budget of the movie." Bottom line: Madame Web lost money.

Mastermind Pets need end game survivability buff
PeregrineFalcon replied to TheSpiritFox's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I am not arguing in bad faith. I just don't agree with you. I had several level 50 MMs on the retail servers and I have many MMs on Homecoming servers as well, so I have a lot of experience with MMs. I read the entire thread, including every word you wrote. I chose to respond only to those things that I wished to respond to. By the way, you should know that a moderator specifically posted that people are allowed to disagree with suggestions. Disagreeing with you isn't arguing in bad faith and it's specifically allowed by the rules of this forum.
