Yet another travel power pool suggestion - with a twist!
PeregrineFalcon replied to biostem's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
So I actually have more than 1 character that has both Fly and Super Speed. Using your new power pools how would I do that? -
Yet another travel power pool suggestion - with a twist!
PeregrineFalcon replied to biostem's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Oh, ok. I understand now. So the developers recently changed the Travel Power Pools to make Afterburner et al. into these inherent/pop-up powers. Now you're proposing that they change them back into normal powers. I'm not sure why they would want to do that. What would be the point in doing this? I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm basically just asking how would it improve the game? -
Yet another travel power pool suggestion - with a twist!
PeregrineFalcon replied to biostem's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
So you're talking about making the Travel Power Pools smaller, thus making it easier to get the "good" Tier 5 power, while making a (or the first) travel power an inherent? Assuming that I have correctly understood your suggestion, what is the goal of this change? -
What Happened to GM Led Weekly Discussions?
PeregrineFalcon replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
Thank you for saying that. This is exactly the kind of info that players want to read. Not details. Not deadlines. Just "this is what we're working on, no idea how long it'll take." We know you guys are a small team and that: New Content = (Mountain Dew * Time)/Spaghetti Code. -
What Happened to GM Led Weekly Discussions?
PeregrineFalcon replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
@Cobalt Arachne First of all, thank you very much for posting. Not just that you posted, but for what you posted and the great detail of information that you posted. I am not condoning uncivil behavior. However, I do believe that the last 20 years of posting on video game forums has conditioned people to be rude because we've been trained that that's what works. I've seen it many times on many forums for many games. Calm posts with precise mathematical models showing why the changes won't work get ignored. But after the changes go live, and the mods spend a week fighting a losing battle against the fires threatening to burn down the entire forums, the devs announce that they'll roll back, or lessen, the changes. None of this is your fault, nor the fault of the Homecoming team, of course. However, this is exactly why I think that a dev blog, or road map, or some kind of post regarding the devs' point of view on the game, on changes, on where they want to go with things, and on eventual goals would be very helpful for at least lessening the amount of forum flamage and vitriol. You mentioned that some feedback gets ignored because it doesn't challenge the specific reason behind the change. Ok, but many times we don't know the specific reason behind the change. If you want us to respond to the specific reason behind the change then that information is going to have to be spelled out in the OP of the feedback thread, it usually isn't. Anyway, I hope you don't think that I'm attacking you with this post. Nor am I angry in anyway. This is just my attempt at constructive feedback. If you've read my post to this point, thank you again. -
Too many missions. Too many repetitive missions. Unclear story. The fix would be to clean up and streamline the missions, and simplify the storylines. Even if only by having a bolded TL;DR at the botton of the NPC's wall of text. My suggestion: adding more variety to Scanner/Newspaper Missions.

Thanks for that! 😄 And what you said about EA is exactly what I was saying, and what Billz was saying when he still posted on the forums. Which is that if EA's numbers are too good for a Tanker then they're too good on a Scrapper and Scrapper EA should be nerfed. But if EA's defense numbers are fine for a Scrapper then they'll be ok for a Tanker as well. Same thing with Super Strength. Either it's just fine, in which case port it, or it needs to be fixed and then ported.

End PL allow characters to begin at 50
PeregrineFalcon replied to MsSmart's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Ok, I haven't seen any suggestion about the Insta-50 button costing 100million INF, that's a different thing I suppose. As for name camping outside of people's heads, I've read posts on this forum where people have flat out said that they've got a bunch of name camping characters. There's an entire thread where people are trading the names that they've camped. And, when the devs revealed that they were testing a name reclamation system, the name campers lit the forums on fire for a couple of weeks. So please, don't waste people's time with your imaginary notion that people aren't name camping. It's a proven FACT. -
End PL allow characters to begin at 50
PeregrineFalcon replied to MsSmart's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
While true, the sheer number of "AE Babies" that people have encountered isn't an imaginary thing. And I don't care how long you've been playing this game, you're going to be better at playing a character that you've played all the way up to level 50 than you will be playing a character after you just hit the "Insta 50" button. Now for you, a highly experienced player, that learning curve won't take long, but you're not the entire player base. There are people who learn slower than you do, and some who really won't learn how to play their character at all if they haven't played it while leveling. Also, and frankly this never occurred to me so thanks for that @Akisan and @UltraAlt, the ability for people to use Insta-50s to completely end-run the entire name reclamation system would make all the time and effort that the devs put into writing the code for that system into a complete waste. So why would the developers deliberately give players the ability to completely end-run and entire system that they built from scratch for a reason? -
No. I led a lot of PuGs for years on Freedom, and I led a lot of PuGs for the first two years I was on Torchbearer. A LOT of people play their Blasters like always at range unless the enemies are able to close. A LOT of people try their best to keep their Blasters out of melee range at all times. Hover blasting is a thing, perhaps you've heard of it. Even my Archmage, an Incarnate Fire/Fire/Fire Blaster with 32% Range Defense, stays out of melee most of the time. And believe me, she wipes out entire spawns in seconds. So, no. There's no reason whatsoever that people should stop saying, "I stick to 100% range", whether you like it or not. Because a lot of people, most would be my guess based on my experience, play their Blasters that way and always have. And it doesn't matter if you like it or not. And it doesn't matter if that's the mathematically most optimal way to play. That's how people play Blasters.

I'm sooooooo looking forward to those threads. 😁 What?

Yeah. I saw that conversation too. I thought they already did this in page 4? You think they'll nerf them even more when they finally buff Assault Rifle? Oh yeah! And let's be honest here for just a moment. Titan Weapons, XP boosters, and Bill Z all needed to be nerfed. They were all bugged and/or over performing far in excess of all comparable powersets. And Fire Farming wasn't really nerfed, it was just adversely impacted, in a way that Fire Farmers can easily work around if they just take a few minutes to go in and tweak their AE farms, when Fiery Melee received a much needed buff. @High_Beam I wasn't going to, but I guess I can sign for that. Just park it where ever.

Ya'know it's funny that you mention me, because I just rerolled my signature character on Torchbearer as a Fire/Energy Aura Sentinel. The plan, if I like it enough to get to 50, is to get some damage buff set bonuses and slot attacks with the HOs that are Dam/Range. I'll let you know how it goes, if you're interested.

Impossible. I'm a Marksman.

You're forgetting who you're talking to, Arcane. I'm literally the person who started that narrative on these forums. And I did it because it was based on my observations. And other people agree because they've observed the same thing. You can promise me anything you want, but understand that I've come to my conclusion based on facts in evidence, not your opinion.

I don't believe that the uptick in hostility is a one-sided problem, which is why I didn't say that it was. I think the hostility is coming in from all sides. I also think that the mods acting on one specific form of hostility while allowing other forms to slide to the point to where perfectly reasonable people are driven away from Homecoming completely, just might end up coming back to bite folks at some point in the future. Not that I'm claiming that @Bill Z Bubba is perfectly reasonable mind you, but people in general. 😁
-
Agreed. You know, the mods have a real problem with me calling people out for stuff being said that's clearly insane, but they don't seem to have a problem with players mocking other players, or players being told "Don't like it, go play on another server then!" And, at some point in the future, when they start complaining "how come I can't find anyone to team with", or "how come we're having problems with donations to keep the server running"? Maybe at that point they'll figure out why allowing this toxic nonsense that drives people away wasn't such a great idea. Unfortunately, I'm not hopeful that they'll figure it out before the servers are shut down.

The Shield armor set for Brutes, Scrappers and Tankers, has a "Shield Charge" power that teleports you to the enemies and does PbAoE damage. It combines well with Broadsword, Energy Melee and Super Strength. Both Kinetics and Empathy on Defenders and Corruptors are great for buffing other people, not so much for ones self though.
-
Sure they would. And I'm certain that the developers will give their complaints the same consideration they gave to ours when we asked them not to nerf Rune of Protection, or add a combo to Energy Melee, or add a combo to Sorcery Pool. What I got when I read this thread: AFK Farmers big mad they can't AFK farm anymore. 🤪

Yes, it's called "Roleplaying." See, that would be the RPG portion of MMORPG. By the way, were you going to answer any of the myriad of questions people have asked about your metal powerset? You're not going to get the undying praise that you seem to want, but you might convince some people to actually like your suggestion. That's not going to happen if you just keep scolding people and refuse to talk about your powerset though.
