I will never believe anything you post, ever again. -
Change name of Beta: Focused Feedback
PeregrineFalcon replied to Troo's topic in Website Suggestions & Feedback
As a possible addition to your suggestion. Allow for one post per player. Just one. They can edit said post with their testing results and reactions to points brought up, but overall it should have the effect of making the threads a lot shorter and easier for the devs to read. -
The tragedy of the Brute Fury nerf. A timeless lament
PeregrineFalcon replied to Snarky's topic in Brute
Oh, c'mon man! Now you're just trying to get me in trouble. You know darn well I can't respond to that without getting another involuntary forum vacation. -
The tragedy of the Brute Fury nerf. A timeless lament
PeregrineFalcon replied to Snarky's topic in Brute
You know, I don't usually agree with Snarky. But when I do it's because he's right. Here's another example: The IO system. What's the easiest thing to get using set IOs? Defense. You know what's really hard to get with set IOs? A noticeable increase in damage output. So Blasters (and other squishies) can increase their durability to at least Scrapper levels, but can a Tanker increase their damage output to Scrapper levels? Nope. It's almost like the entire IO system was deliberately designed to allow squishies to increase their durability but to prevent anyone from challenging Blaster's and Scrapper's damage output. -
The exception to the rule. Every rule has them. Yeah. People been doing that for 30 years now. Welcome to the Internets. The only way to stop that, at least in the feedback threads, would be to delete ALL forum posts that aren't "I tested it and here are my results." And then that's it. You get ONE post in the thread. Period. ONE. But the problem with that is, if it was actually enforced equally, that the members of the Dev Defense League would have their posts deleted too. And then they'd lose their &$&^*(!!! And the mods don't want to have to deal with that.

Yes, Jimmy. We know.

I don't know. It seems to me that there's only 2 groups of people that have an issue with Page 5. Fire farmers are big mad because Page 5 makes fire farming slightly more difficult. Others are upset because they see the powers changes as yet more power creep. That's pretty much it as far as I've seen. Did I miss anyone?

This sounds like a great idea! However, what the devs ended up doing with it seems better, IMNSHO. What do you guys think ?

You can't say that it's an "immature reaction" because you don't know what happened. But feel free to continue insulting a pillar of this community who's done far more for this community than you and I combined ever will. In some situations simply taking your ball and going home is the mature reaction.

Is changing the power levels power creep?
PeregrineFalcon replied to _NOPE_'s topic in Suggestions & Feedback
One of the things that I noticed during testing, in the 30s range, was that I had a lot of attacks that nothing but an Accuracy and an End Reduction SOs in them. That alone is going to make exempted down characters even more powerful than standard lower level characters. I believe that it will also have the unintended effect of making the lower levels harder. More attacks, and/or more toggles, at lower levels means more endurance consumption. But more attacks that don't have damage enhancements in them, because you don't have the slots for it, means that you'll do less damage and you'll take more damage because TTK is increased. -
Agreed. However, two groups of people have created this "Us vs Them" situation. When anything critical of an in-game change gets posted other players attack that player and defend the devs as if the devs were their girlfriend or something. (Or are perhaps undercover devs themselves.) And the moderators will frequently delete posts and hand out warning points or suspensions to those people who are critical of the devs, but those people who are being horribly insulting, and flagrantly violating the forum rules, while also defending the devs? Their posts don't get deleted and they don't get suspended from the forums. So yeah. If you guys don't want it to be an "Us vs Them" situation, then you'll need to stop attacking us and stop using the moderators in such a biased manner.

Welcome back! I play mostly on Torchbearer. If you play between 5pm - midnight Pacific Time (that's west coast of America) on the weekdays, or almost any time on the weekends, Torchbearer is usually quite busy. But yeah, other than that it's pretty much dead. People have jobs and stuff.

Yes. In addition to the fact that many of the more vocal forum posters are also forum moderators on their alternate account, some of the forum posters are also developers. And in many cases we all have different ideas and goals for this game. Which is exactly why a post, which by the way a developer did tell us was coming but never showed up, outlining their general ideas and goals would be a good thing. Sure some people will freak out about it. That always happens. Welcome to the internet.

Call it whatever you want, but I am paying for a service. Sure, the devs don't have to write up a post with a bit of info on their thoughts, outlook and goals, but I also don't have to "donate" money either. Sure, they're volunteers who work for free. I get that. But do you know what I am when I go onto the test server and test changes and then post a report on that on the forums? A volunteer who's working for free. So yeah. I don't think the devs posting something, even just quarterly, explaining their point of view and goals is too much to ask. EDIT: Good for you. Other people feel differently. But you just keep on defending the devs and attacking players who have a different point of view than you. Maybe the developers will smile at you. Maybe they'll give you a brownie point or a junior forum cop badge. Have fun! .

I've been on the test server several times over the last 2 days. This is my focused feedback. I've made several characters now and leveled them up. I've done street sweeping and scanner missions, solo only. I've changed my mind about this being power creep at lower levels. While lower levels do get more of their core powers (primary/secondary as opposed to pool powers), they suffer from a lack of slots until the 40's. I believe this will make mid level range DPS characters slightly weaker as more attacks with less enhancements do less damage but use more endurance. Improve the flow of power selection? I don't know how to answer that. It makes it feel different. I don't have any idea how a new player (if there is such a thing on HC) would feel about it, but as a vet it felt fun to not have to wait until level 32 to get Energy Transfer. It didn't make the lower level experience any different for me at all, but then again I was soloing. As I'm sure you've already read, teams of people should be able to leverage this to do better on mid level range TFs, but won't that just reduce the amount of merits those TFs award? (Are we still doing that?) To me this change just seemed... different. Not better, but also not worse.

You'd have to make it a generic "We Love Superheroes" convention, otherwise NCSoft could indeed shut it down. Not to mention that you'd have a really hard time renting a venue if City of Heroes is in the Convention's name because owners would be concerned about legal consequences.

Focused Feedback: Mercenaries Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I just logged off of the test server. This is my focused feedback. I remade my beloved Merc/FF MM from live at level 30. All SOs, except for a Performance Shifter proc in Stamina. Did some street sweeping in Brickstown, mostly against Freakshow, going all the way up to +6s. I did this specifically because, if I remember correctly, Freaks have S/L resistance. Holy &$*^# Batmanuel! I don't know what you did to the mercs powers but I actually want to play them again. They were killing stuff as fast as my Bots MMs. The Medic wasn't dying constantly, and he was actually healing my soldiers. Also, Serum actually seems worth taking as well. As with the Sentinel improvements, I think the devs hit this nail right on the head as well. -
Focused Feedback: Sentinel Archetype Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I just logged off of the beta server. This is my focused feedback. I made a level 30 Fire/EA Sentinel. All SOs, except for a Performance Shifter proc in Stamina and a Miracle in Health. I didn't want to have to deal with Endurance issues. Did some street sweeping in Brickstown against +2s and +3s, and a scanner mission against Freakshow at 0/0. Kill time was noticeably better than on live, but not crazy fast like on a Fire Blaster. Saved the inherent click for the boss. Some Freak Tank named Krok. With Vulnerability on him he didn't last any longer than the LTs did, which is to say an attack or two longer than a minion. Soloing with a Sentinel on live is just boring because it takes so long to kill anything, and the inherent feels worthless. Soloing with a Sentinel on the beta server is like a slower but safer Blaster, with a useful inherent. Still not sure I like the inherent power being a click, but it did its job. I have to say, I think the devs are spot on with this upgrade. -
Focused Feedback: Sentinel Archetype Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Ok, I'm glad you like my idea. Next step, please talk with the devs and try to get them to make that change. I hate to ask you to do that, but I'm convinced that if I ask them it's virtually guaranteed to be "no." -
Focused Feedback: Sentinel Archetype Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
What would you think about it being changed to a stacking debuff instead of a click? Perhaps something like the current Blaster Inherent: Defiance? Only instead of a stacking damage buff it'd be a stacking debuff on the target. Maybe something like -2% that lasts for 10 seconds? Something like that would barely be noticeable on anything below a boss, as nothing below a boss lasts for 10 seconds after contact with a PC anyway. For EBs and up it'd be a big help for the whole team as they actually live long enough to be noticeably affected by it. -
Is changing the power levels power creep?
PeregrineFalcon replied to _NOPE_'s topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm going to assume that "The Superman Problem" = "He's just too darn powerful to face much of a challenge most of the time." I say that because your link's broken. I agree. In fact, I've agreed with like the last 4 or 5 of your posts that I've read today. I think I need to sit down and drink more coffee. Something's clearly not right if you and I are in agreement. 😄 -
The tragedy of the Brute Fury nerf. A timeless lament
PeregrineFalcon replied to Snarky's topic in Brute
Clearly, since they're not Fiery Aura. Not sure what your point is. And before you say "Well, those are my farm characters." Ok, and? What does that have to do with Fiery Aura Brutes? -
The tragedy of the Brute Fury nerf. A timeless lament
PeregrineFalcon replied to Snarky's topic in Brute
@Snarky And now it looks like they're nerfing the carp outta Brute's Fiery Aura. Maybe setting up the potential to bring back the old Fury, or maybe just trying to stick it to the AFK farmers.
