  2. This has been my exact experience on my latest solo project(made specifically to see how much I could accumulate starting from scratch), and I've had max XP on from level 2. By cosmic coincidence my character is also level 34. However, I'm almost certain the complaints are coming from players who powerlevel/team their way to fifty. This means far fewer merits and drops. Now, I have little sympathy for players who powerlevel to fifty and don't have enough influence to kit out their character immediately. But a player that teams exclusively could perhaps use a little help, especially casual players that have limited time to play. Maybe a modest increase in drop rates for teams? I dunno. I personally don't need it as I market enough to afford what I want.
  3. When I'm leveling a new character with unfamiliar powers, I usually take most or all of a primary and secondary and try each power out. There are plenty of respecs available. While leveling, unless I preplan a build, I use a combination of common IOs and frankenslotting IOs I find. Again, I use respecs liberally to upgrade IOS and/or swap powers. When I get to the point I want to invest in a build and can't find the Primary/Secondary together on a thread, I look at primary and secondary individually from other threads to get an idea of useful powers and slotting. For instance, there is a Battle Axe/Ice build and an Ice/Shield Defense here on the first page. From there, I'd pick up Mids and put a build together, then post on the forum for advice. I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but I'm not very familiar with either Battle Axe or Shield. You could help us help you by being a bit more specific in what you want: budget is important, but a sample build is even more helpful.

  6. You're overstating the 'conversation that followed'. There was exactly one player who stated that "Hey this is good to know. Now I can report all the people in PvP zones for attacking me when I asked them to stop interacting with me! cool!", and that poster seemed to me to be mostly sarcastic as he'd just finished defending what others had pointed out WAS harrassment. No likes, and outside of a single lukewarm post in partial agreement, the few responses that followed were in disagreement with his PVP statement as well. At this point I assume you're being deliberately obtuse and I'm hoping this thread gets shut down as well.
  7. Even after all these years I still love to fire up a Baldur's Gate-Baldur's Gate 2 run. They're available on Steam. I also do a Neverwinter Nights (or 2) run every year or two. I also still get milage out of Civ 5 and less so Civ 6. Mass Effect 2 is another I'll fire up once in a while (I also love Mass Effect but he combat is terrible). Same for Mass Effect 3 multi-player.....still have no problems finding Gold teams.
  8. Players have every right to ask. That doesn't mean they're immune from attack and can report as far as I know. As others have mentioned, just asking has usually been enough for badge hunters. Another option is just transfer your badge hunter to Torchbearer. While doing my badging there I encountered only one player in PVP zones while spending hours badging. He/she also seemed to be a badge hunter and we left each other alone.

  10. My pet peeves: 1)People complaining about relatively benign or rare circumstances. Sometimes human nature sucks, but for the most part, people are cool. 2)Spamming chat with garbage. Fortunately we have an ignore button and can report abusers. (See 1) 3)Impatient players. Patience is a virtue. 4)Know-it-alls. This can come in many forms, from 'I represent the majority of the player base' to 'you should take such and such power or you suck'. Pardon my language but F#$@ You. 5)Forum trolls. It's one thing to post something stupid. I've done so myself and fealt ashamed enough to avoid the forums for a couple weeks. It's another to come looking for disruption and confrontation. Pro-tip: Don't post when you're drunk.

  13. I can't think of any specific powersets without being derivitive of the comics or movies, but two things come to mind. Hero and sidekick, and in your case, a married couple who are superheroes on the side. This leaves open a wide range of possibilities. You could both be scientists who derive your powers through experimentation and gadgets. You could have met in a secret magic organization and decided to team up. You could both be mutants like the Incredibles, but different powers. Lots of groovy possibilities. As far as ATs, I duoed with my best friend several times. We played a Tanker/Defender duo, Scrapper/Controller duo, and a Brute/Corrupter duo. All were great.
  14. Two things. One, if you have a good DM it doesnt matter how you roll. Two, I hate HATE 3d6 in order no rerolls. Not because of low scores, but, especially in Advanced or 2nd Edition, you were almost never gonna play a Ranger, Bard, Druid, or Paladin. Fortunately I've always had great DMs.
  15. I reject this. We already have a power creep problem with IO sets and incarnates. End game is trivial now, and this attitude only contributes to this. Hell, at this point, it's not even end game that's trivial. The ability to slot Attuned IO sets, especially ATOs and purples have made even lower level content trivial. I occasionaly find a task force that struggles to finish individual missions. It's becoming more and more rare these days. The notion that we shouldn't balance sets and instead buff everything else is Ludacris.
  16. The first thing that came to mind for me was either a Mind or Illusion Controller with Dark, Time, Traps, or Trick Arrow as a secondary, although none of them would be shape shifters. A Warshade would check some boxes as well. Hope you find something that clicks, it sounds like a groovy concept.
  17. Perhaps players that relied on influence farming started splitting their time between farming and earning merits(or just started buying converters) in order to craft and convert uncommon recipes rather than just dumping them.
  18. I definitely play old school on some characters, especially when it comes to mission choice and leveling. Most characters do the Hollows and only a few get travel powers early. As has been stated, you can get around fine in the Hollows without a travel power. I rarely run DFBs and hardly ever use base teleporters. I like using travel powers to get around. The only time I'm in a hurry is when I'm in a Task Force, so I solo a good portion of the time. I don't want to be in a hurry. As for the current debate; I once had an argument with a flat earther. No amount of evidence, visual or otherwise, would change his mind. He seemed incapable of acknowledging logical fallacies. Mentally shake your head, chuckle, and move on. It's not worth the aggravation.
  19. Farming and Civ are great for listening to some jams. I don't farm often, but when I do it's to zone out. Only problem with that is I also often forget to pay attention to my end bar.
  20. The first time I read The Brothers Karamazov I wanted to learn Russian so I could read it in the original language. Everything from Dostoevsky is amazing. I dig Piers Anthony as well, but my favorite from him are the Apprentice Adept series. Hmm, perhaps the Xanth series. Definitely second Ender's Game. Probably my favorite Sci-Fi book along with John Steakley's Armor, although Asimov's Foundation is my favorite Sci-Fi series. I have too many favorite fantasy books to list. Ok, not true. One mention is Patrick Rothfuss's Name of the Wind. Amazing book, but first in a series and I've been waiting a long time for book 3. Same goes for Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight series. Great books(all his books are good) but waiting for book four of the series is....frustrating. I could go on and on. I read a lot of books.
  21. One side effect of converters I haven't seen mentioned is how Serendipity prices are artificially high as people vie for them in order to make LotG IOs. The price of those Luck of the Gambler's would definitely be higher with a depleted supply, but what would normally be a really cheap IO set for a newer player is quite expensive. In fact all defense IO sets are quite expensive. Obviously expensive is relative. As for flippers, if you plan ahead and put your own variable lowball bids on most IO sets, they'll fill eventually. Extra ones you pick up you can flip yourself at a modest profit or tuck away in your SG base. Heck, I might even supply one of my own forgotten bids as I generally list converted IOs at low prices(every once in a while I'll buy a bunch of cheap recipes on my main, convert and list). I spent a couple of weeks concentrating on making money, and I continually put in bids for various IO sets at lowball prices in order to stock my base with attuned IOs. The little converting I do now simply restocks my base. And I still have a couple of billion influence between all of my characters.
  22. I really think the evidence is the opposite of this assessment. If supply was dwindling you'd expect a gradual decrease in stock with a gradual increase in price. That hasn't happened with yellow salvage. Almost over night there were 30k bids on ALL yellow salvage, and the price dramatically increase in a short period of time. For months I was able to both sell and buy yellow salvage at 2k without issues. This happened way too fast for a supply problem to crop up.
  23. Do you mean left click and drag? Am I missing something again? Agreed on bigger stacks. That would be groovy. @VileTerror I guess we're both confused then. I didn't realize you could delete entire stacks(I've never tried) and posters above cleared that up. I'm obviously confused about the context I quoted as well. Sorry about that.
  24. Is it really faster to delete than to /AH, open salvage screen, and drag and list for one influence(or a hundred or whatever)? Sincerely asking.
  25. If you mean it has minor To-HIt Debuff, then yea, sure it's the best at its role. Other than that, it's a misconception that Dark Melee was ever more than a good single target set at max level with high recharge. Like any set, Shield helped, and Epics/Patrons could help cover its AOE deficiencies. Overall, and especially during the leveling process, Dark Melee has always been near the bottom in performance. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19VuZ9zJ_8eKN11JytgaK9mt9Fy-8pjANopb-FGh68Uw/htmlview#
