Probably not well enough to get the full damage possible with Ignite's 4' radius, but since Ignite's target cap is 5, I doubt you're going to be expecting that much from it. Ignite's recharge time is short enough that you can basically spam it anyway, and Glue ensures that nothing's wandering off to the high hills while you're laying down Ignite patches. If it were my TA/AR or AR/TA, I'd be using Ignite with Entangling on single targets, and Ignite with OSA on spawns, and Ignite with both Glue and OSA on +X spawns to counter purple patch reduction without having to put extra slots in Glue. Those combinations all work well (unless you're fighting something like Crey Power Tanks, or Warwolves, but those kinds of critters are also rocking mag 8 Immob protection, so you're screwed no matter what).

Disable Destiny Incarnate (Barrier) visuals?
Luminara replied to Autumn's topic in General Discussion
https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/SuppressCloseFx_(Slash_Command) https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/SuppressCloseFxDist_(Slash_Command) Those might help. Remember to scroll back a click or two on the camera if you're going into the costume editor, though, or you won't see any power effects during editing. -
Clarifying Some Oddball Powers (Controller edition)
Luminara replied to oedipus_tex's topic in Controller
Fear was originally a single effect. Feared foes just ran away... sometimes bringing back lots and lots and lots of friends. Players didn't really like that, so Cryptic created Terrorize and replaced Fear with Terrorize in certain powers, but kept Fear in other powers. Both were blanketed under the same categorization, in the same way cones and AoEs were folded in together, for convenience. If I recall correctly, there's a third effect, Avoid, which functions almost identically to Fear, but isn't a Fear or flagged as such. -
My post was, in fact, applicable to any change targeting a single damage mitigation vector. Any change, whether it's limiting the number of set bonuses achievable, or halving values across the board (set bonuses, power sets, pools), or even implementing harsh restrictions by archetype, if it's constrained to a single mitigation method. Any nerf to one type of mitigation is absolutely guaranteed to fail to achieve the goal of adding challenge, because all it will accomplish is to prompt players to pursue other types of mitigation, or other sources of the nerfed mitigation, or both, and they'll keep on keeping on. Moving the goal post one inch in any direction isn't going to fix anything.

That's not a stream, it's a creek. CREEK CHEATER!

I avoid taking them along whenever possible. If I can't bypass or avoid them (i never accept "help" from NPCs when it's optional), I try leading them back to the entrance and Stealthing away at maximum speed. And if I can't dump them that way, they follow me until they get themselves slaughtered, and I don't sweat it. I don't like NPC allies. They aggro too quickly when I'm approaching a spawn, which throws off my opening sequence, and they run close to other spawns and pull aggro, which fucks with my key mashing Zen... they're not helpful, they're a hinderance. Except Fusionette. ❤️

Cryptic / Paragon developers working on Homecoming
Luminara replied to PeregrineFalcon's topic in General Discussion
If there are any former Co* developers here, and they're not speaking up about that, it's best to assume they want their anonymity and privacy and leave them alone, rather than try to ferret them out.- 10 replies

Legionette only uses Body. She has enough endurance (120%) and +Recovery (261%), she has enough global recharge to make complete AoE and single-target attack chains, she's slotted well enough to hit +3 critters with everything, so the -Res is the only useful effect for her build.
-
Perhaps we could talk @Captain Powerhouse into adding some kind of additional graphic, like a recolored orange "I've been hit with a Psi attack and my brain is sparkly now" glow on critters.

Clarifying Some Oddball Powers (Controller edition)
Luminara replied to oedipus_tex's topic in Controller
Entangling Arrow. If you initiate an attack immediate after Entangling Arrow (queue the attack while EA is still animating), you won't get the Containment bonus. Have to wait for the animation to finish. The target is Immobilized, but apparently not flagged as Immobilized until the animation completes, so the obverse of your example occurs. It's been a pain in the ass of every controller I've ever played. -
Options -> Controls -> Mouse -> Camera Shake -> Disabled. Yeah, I don't know why it's under Mouse, either, but there you go.

I just finished sneaking through a mission filled with Rikti drones, using stacked Stealth IO (in Sprint) with Infiltration and capping it off with Flash Arrow. Same thing works on Nemesis snipers (finishing up the Division: Line arc on my Grav/TA, so i had the displeasure of dealing with both kinds of I SEE YOU AND I'M TELLING EVERYONE critter). So they do have perception limits.

How do you run... Mender Ramiel's Honoree mission?
Luminara replied to Greycat's topic in General Discussion
I forget the details of this mission until I reach the last room and try to pull the Honoree. Then I remember. And by that point, it's too late for strategies or plans, so I resort to AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHSTABSTABSTABPEWPEWAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH. Fortunately, that usually works in this game. -

I've been aware of the growing surveillance in the world for a while. It hasn't really bothered me, despite having social anxiety disorder. If anything, it's just bringing the world into the same perspective I've always lived in, the feeling that someone's always watching. If anything, I've always promised myself that if we ever did reach a point where I felt that my privacy was being infringed upon, I'd "give them a show". Well, today, that happened. See, I have the Google Rewards app on my tablet. It's paid for a couple of mobile versions of old favorite MMORPGs. Four minutes after I searched for something online, using google.com, a survey popped up on Google Rewards... and one of the options in the first page of the survey was what I'd just looked up. The second panel wanted to know what I was interested in, in regard to the search I'd just conducted. So I answered, "Porn". The fourth panel asked what results Google could display that would interest me. I typed in, "Porn!". Somewhere, someone's reading that survey. I'm having a wonderful day. How about the rest of you? Who's up for some porn? Google? Porn? Porn! 😁

The worst characters in the MCU?
Luminara replied to CursedSorcerer's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I think a list created by someone who spells friends as "frens" isn't something I'd give the least amount of credence. -
Something like a police dispatcher/snooping snitch, sending occasional updates to a chat channel, was what I had in mind. Let's take the troll raves in Skyway. Instead of one message when a rave begins, and one message when it ends, something like the following would be more helpful: "Trolls passing Sixth and Newcombe, headed toward rave." - each time the rave refills with regular trolls "Supatrolls seen exiting building, moving <direction> toward the train station." - each time Supatrolls spawn "Ravers appear to be wearing themselves out." - when the event reaches X% completion Simple messages, not enough to qualify as chat spam, but they'd do so much to inform players on an ongoing basis.

issue 27 Patch Notes for May the 4th (be with you), 2021
Luminara replied to Jimmy's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
Thank you. Thank you so much. ❤️ -
Lack of proper notification is part of the problem. Yes, the game will send an alert to a specific channel when an event begins, and a notification when the event has ended, but that's really a minimalist approach. There's nothing to ensure that players actually see the information. Furthermore, there's no information at all about the current progress of events, nothing to keep prompting players to participate, nothing to catch players' attention if they missed the single "Hey, something's happening in zone X" line of text in a chat tab that they may not even be paying any attention to, or could have lost in a flood of conversation or combat spam... the game doesn't actively encourage players to participate in events, it simply tells them that they exist. A "Current Events" channel which continually updates players about the state of events, even if it's only when an event starts a different phase, like, "The Rikti Drop Ships have ceased their bombardment and begun transporting troops to the ground", would go a very, very long way toward attracting more players to events. Another problem is that some of the events have no clearly defined location. These Rikti invasions, for example, don't encourage players to gather at a particular spot, people either see other people and huddle together, or they wander around aimlessly and separately. A simple "Go here" marker would make it a lot easier for people to know what they're expected to do. And on the subject of what they're expected to do, that's also not often clearly defined. After all of this time, I still have absolutely no fucking clue what the whole zombie invasion event is supposed to be about, or what I'm supposed to do at those flagged spots. Yeah, it's on the wiki somewhere, but I'm not looking at the wiki when I'm playing, and I'm not interested in looking it up when I'm not playing, so I never learn anything about that event. For that matter, why should I have to go dig up the information on the wiki? If the game wants me to participate in that event, it needs to give me the relevant information - go here, kill X of Y to spawn Z, poke Z in the eye, get badge. Instead, it just drops a waypoint on the map. In-game information about events doesn't have to be filled with spoilers or give the player the exact process to complete the event, but it has to do something more than make a colored dot on the map and call it a day. Not much point going to a different zone to participate in an event when the game works so hard to discourage participation.

Deities and Demigods and where are they at?
Luminara replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
The Dark Astoria and Pandora's Box arcs address some of that. And to leave room for expansion of content.
