What did you think of the tv shows? I enjoyed the Highlander show (haven't seen it in years) but never tried the Twelve Monkeys tv show

My worst days in CoH are not bad teams. They are days when I can't find a team and I waste my time waiting for a team instead of soloing.

The Warriors are boring - is that a problem?

what the fork? -
I played GW2 until I found CoH again. I think GW2 has better design for solo characters than CoH. But group combat is so much better in CoH.

No one can be paid to work on CoH or else they are making money off of it. Making money off of someone else's IP is clearly a violation. -
Suggestion: please deemphasize the low level arcs
DougGraves replied to ZaranBlack's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I play low levels almost exclusively. The old contacts missions at low levels are often terrible. You get sent to street sweep in PP, do patrols, and other boring or really hard missions. Only after the old contact missions are cleaned up should any new players be pointed to them. -
Make Ice Control Cooler: A Control Powerset Buff
DougGraves replied to Blackfeather's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Ice control is my second favorite control set after electric, and I primarily play controllers or dominators. I fundamentally disagree with the OPs assessment. Ice Slick is one of the best ways of avoiding an alpha strike because it can be dropped from around a corner. The enemy cannot attack you at all when you place it. I slot with 1 range to help with this. Arctic Air suffers from drawing aggro. Unless there is a tanker or brute taunting, I will draw a lot of attacks that my controller cannot take. The only change I would make to the powerset would be to have arctic air drew less aggro.- 202 replies

Discussion: Improvements to the Warriors
DougGraves replied to Piecemeal's topic in Developer's Corner
The warriors movie is based on a charismatic gang leader trying to unite the gangs. They are killed and the warriors have to flee back through the city and other gangs territory. And Piecemeal does not want another civil war in a gang. So let's take the original idea and put it into the game. The Warriors are trying to organize the gangs to stop fighting one another. There are different factions in the Warriors, but the goal is unity. Start with the Skulls Arc theme - they claim to be giving people powers to protect themselves. The Warriors want to train people to protect themselves - no death cult and on dyne needed. They may be competing with the Skulls and Trolls to recruit people, or trying to recruit Skulls and Trolls into an alliance. The Warriors are trying to find a leader to unite them. Since they look for peak human performance, they hold an Olympics for it. I would make the Olympics part of the story, but not do missions of the Olympics. The Freakshow got the Freakolympics idea from the Warriors. But the Warriors have an enemy. A villain group that opposes them. This is probably the Freaks based on their rivalry in Talos. Warriors want human improvement, the freaks want to just replace the human with technology. -

I would like superhero movies to use James Bond as their model. I don't want an origin story for Bond. I don't want his social life, etc. I want a spy adventure. And if you want to change who is playing Bond, just swap in a new actor and keep going. Don't reboot. Don't tell the origin story again.

I don't think you understand what was written. "your character's effectiveness is less dependent on taking X ability at Y level, slotted with Z ." Your character's effectiveness is dramatically dependent on your slotting. I am not arguing whether you can learn slotting or not.
-
I generally agree except for the slotting. Your characters effectiveness is largely determined by your slotting. Slot nothing and your character will be unable to get through +0/x1 content at level 25.

I liked the opening. I pretty much didn't like the rest. I don't want a drama about running a small fishing business and getting a loan. I don't want a drama about seeing a counselor. This is starting to feel like the Marvel Netflix shows which were dramas that occasionally remembered the characters had super powers. I could not finish most of the Netflix shows, I found them slow and tedious. I hope Falcon and Winter Soldier gets to more action and less drama. I maybe unique in this, but I want superhero shows and movies not dramas. I liked the action in the X-men movies and was put to sleep by the Magneto and Xavier drama. Apocalypse was great after they got past the boring Magneto tries to live a normal life storyline and got to the costumes and action. There are so many dramas out there, why pretend to make a superhero show and make a drama instead?

Yes, my dark/sonic is one of the few characters that I feel is fantastic for both solo and teaming.
-
Oh, for my tanker I switched from dark/dark to rad/dark. Rad does not quite have everything dark has for defense but it does not have END problems. I just use the dark rad effects for looks.
-
I normally play controllers. I want control and healing, so dominators and defenders only do half. But controllers lack damage. But a dark defender gets an aoe stun and an aoe fear plus healing plus damage. A dark/dark defender gets an extra aoe stun.

I've never seen The One. I don't think I've ever seen a Jet Li movie as such (I think I've seen movies he appears in as a secondary character).

Having to go into the police station to see the detective when there is another detective standing right outside. On DiB when you teleport to the forest you are not facing the direction you want to go and have to turn and find the way to go.

Star Allergies: Causes, means to address?
DougGraves replied to MTeague's topic in General Discussion
People in CoH will do whatever they are paid to do. If you want more people to take the star, give an XP or influence bonus for having it. -
I play almost exclusively low levels (1-35) with almost all characters having just SO's. I do use KB>KD on my AR character and my ice/time controller has a miracle +recovery. Here is my experience with power. Normal content a team of level 1-20 characters has no problem with at +0 and can do at +1 with some difficulty. Hollows teams, radio teams, etc should be at +1 even at level 10. KR story arcs are more difficult and can be tough at +0 but if everyone has SOs and is the right level +1 is very doable. By 20-30 +1 is easy for a team. +2 is not challenging but has some danger. 30-35 +2 is easy, +3 is routine. 35+ +4 is not challenging for normal content (radio missions, etc.) Teamwork still matters, blasters are soloing half the mission. But as a group you just steamroll everything. 45+ I just stop playing. The team approaches an enemy group and a judgement wipes out everything except the lt's and bosses who go down seconds later. It is beyond steamrolling and is just kids stepping on ants. IO set bonuses do impact lower play. But they generally just make a character invulnerable. A blaster will tank on a team because nothing hurts them. They do not steamroll the mission but it does make the mission trivially easy. I quit those teams. The worst is an IO'd character on a TF who just skips through the enemies to complete the mission solo. TF's become a lame joke and are no fun with such a player. tldr; for normal content even with SO's the characters are overpowered at higher levels at steamroll everything. IO sets matter but not as much as level. Judgements just make the game a trivial joke.
