My Claws/SR, she's the Main main for a reason. After that it would be really tough. Too many 2nd choices. My short list for the number 2 spot Earth/Storm Empathy/Rad Huntsman Broadsword/Regen Cold/Ice With special mention of an SR/Claws Tanker who exists only in my mind for now.

Well here's a not all inclusive list of things you might do at 50. Many can be done along the way as well. Badges, stinkin' badges. Not just for long range teleport or Accolades or merits or defeat 'X', but just to do it because, Everest like, they're there. Often the above is combined with exploring all the zones because 'black' on a map is ... just wrong. Or combined with looking for Easter Eggs. Which is not to be confused with but can go along with looking for holes in the geometry (and is therefore intertwined with generalized exploring). Examples: Finding the secret room in Faultline or the "Dev" room in Grandville Learning about and engaging in Power Leveling and Farming. Related activities but not the same thing, and often done as a combined activity. Task Forces and Trials (both Incarnate and non-Incarnate). Done for many reasons --> Rewards (merits, Inf, salvage), Badges including Master of Badges but also defeat 'X' badges, Speed (often for rewards but it can be just for competitive fun). Learn to use the Jump Geysers in the Shadow Shard zones. Get certain badges while on an actual security level 1 character --> for example the Rikti Gone Wild badge PvP (but hey Stinkin' Badges even if not otherwise your cup of tea). Exemplar - to learn about how it works, there are about as many reasons why as there are players. Ranging from just doing so to help/team with friends or potential new friend to challenging oneself in or outside of Oroborous. Reach the Terra Volta reactor door on a character with no travel powers (temporary or otherwise). Just Sprint, Swift, Hurdle, and Combat Jumping. Create an SG and build a base. Lead a team, take the Star. Follow it up with leading a League. Create a character and level to 50 'Hardcore' mode --> No defeats for any reason. Now do the above on SO's only. Create and level to 50 (and beyond) a 'Unicorn' character. Ideally no one else has ever played that particular pairing to before. True Unicorns are getting rare so play one as rare as possible. Create and level one of every AT. Can be continued as 1 of every primary and secondary in that AT. Play the market. I hear it can be its own little mini game. Earn the Field Crafter badge. Win a Costume contest. Solo AV's and GM's. Great now do it on an AT that 'can't do that'. And now do it on max difficulty. Do a "Completionist' run. (Sees @Snarkyhas replied while typing, wonders if he knew what I was typing 😳) Do it (completionist run) for all 3 factions (Blue, Red and Gold) Level a Goldside character to 50 while remaining Goldside. Design mission/story content in AE Level a character using AE mission content (i.e. no farming/Power Leveling 😈) Collect Shivans and Warburg 'nukes'. Both are PvE content completed in PvP zones. The rewards can be very useful in doing difficult content in PvE. Earn the Longbow Mech (Recluse's Victory). Again a useful pet one can earn while in a PvP zone. Earn a Day Job badge and the associated reward. PvP by Gladiator matches in the Arena. Help extinguish a Fire in the Fire Event in Steel Canyon. Fight against a Rikti Invasion or in other zone events. Log onto the test server and try out an alternate build or a build for a specific goal. Try out an unusual build ... a petless Master Mind, 'pool boy', or man build. Medal in the races held in the Ski Chalet during the Winter Event. Run Radio and Newspaper missions and continue with Safeguard and Mayhem missions.

Kheldians: Why not make Cosmic Balance a Team Buff?
Doomguide2005 replied to Bill Z Bubba's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Maybe? But it isn't BillZ we're trying to Cosmic Balance either 😜. -
What is the dumbest way the game has confused you?
Doomguide2005 replied to ninja surprise's topic in General Discussion
Early on with my first character, a Scrapper, I started experimenting with remapping keys. I had remapped keys around my move keys moving auto run to the farside of the keyboard to the 'p' key. Shortly after the team was fighting Pumicites and looking at a particular nasty set of mobs I typed or rather started to "maybe we should p(ull)" and like something possessed my SR scrapper took off like a shot towards the mob. Woops. Remapped that key promptly. One of my friends on his newly minted first character really couldn't get the attention of this npc in AP. He tried various chat channels before sending a tell asking about the npc. Him: "Who is this npc in Atlas? Can't seem to chat or learn about his content?" Me: "I don't know. What does it say over his head?" Him: "'AFK', he is just completely unresponsive" Me: Umm ... -
Compiling CoH Community Slotting Choices
Doomguide2005 replied to Excidium's topic in General Discussion
Very much and possible the biggest skewing factor is why the build was posted. Big difference between a help my build post and the likely respose(s) typically. -
Annnnd one answer isn't even correct for myself alone. My Main (of mains) a Scrapper with 3500+hours of game time had a much different set-up than my main Empaths who had different set from pretty much any new wet behind the ears newly minted character. While they all had some fundamental basic arrangement in common they also changed based on frequency of play and their AT and sets etc.. My Claws/SR, for example, had far more space devoted to macros (and binds) to various targets, some because they were dangerous to her (i.e. Quartz eminators) others because they were a threat to most teams (Sappers). She also had chat tabs configured to monitor things in combat channels that other characters didn't.

I'll be back but you can look for a thread about Earth/Empathy which should cover the Empathy side quite well. Currently it sits on page 2 of the Controller forums. Essentially both Empathy and Controllers love recharge. Pack as much as you can into the build.

Strongly recommend you take Teleport Target. Comes in very handy for ensuring your dead player target is properly underfoot the foes. Vengeance is a nice touch too.

Help requested for a "fighting controller"...
Doomguide2005 replied to biostem's topic in Controller
Ice/Sonic is a pairing I want to try again as the first go around was prior to things like inherent Fitness and set IOs. It's also the pairing I offered up as the worst set I ever tried solo. It couldn't fight its way out of a wet, pre-torn, paper bag without zeroing out its blue bar. Turns out that even with debuffing the foes resistance that piddly damage still amounts to piddly damage. But that's why I want another crack at it and see if it still burns the blue bar for little gain. Between inherent Fitness, procs and IO sets plus all the other changes maybe it won't be so God awful to solo. -
You want near indestructible try a full team of "Green Machine" compliant Empaths. Offensively there might arguably be more dangerous teams of 8 clones but defensively sheesh, convince me. Thank gods the only times I've faced such things they weren't run by their player(s) and the AI is pretty damn dumb. And there are at least 2 missions I know of, one Blue and one Redside where if you're on a GM team you'll face yourself (and I don't mean AE content). The Blueside one is, of course, the Posi 1 TF inside City Hall. Low enough to not be too ugly (but they will be seriously buffed defensively and for +damag) The Redside mission isn't quite so easy but still shy of Adrenaline Boost territory (as I recall) but you can get a taste of what it would be like at 50+ with incarnate abilities tackling it.

Which the way we, the player base, build for sustainable endurance usage it isn't a terribly surprising response.
-
The only thing I'd add to Area Man's thoughts is at level 22 even with maximum effort and limitless budget you won't have perma-PA so some defense might help until you can respec into a late game build. And Traps at least the way I tend to play it is very up close, underfoot if you will. You should still be essentially aggro free for the most part but you can get hit and damaged by AoE's aimed at your pets. Those might be Fireballs or PBAoEs tagged as AoEs. Good news is again is SI will not suppress you'll still be invisible and they shouldn't switch off targets to go after you.

LOL at Lady Jane. First encountered her in the closed beta. I had never seen an npc rocket off into the foes the way she did. I freed her and had just enough time for my brain to register a "WTF!" before she was 3+ spawns deep in CoT and dead. Couldn't even say for sure if she was aggro'd on them or she was simply making a beeline for the chest it happened so fast. But yes it would be great if the players didn't have to engage in such a degree of meta gaming to be successful or prevent the near instant annihilation of a combat hostage.

Resist to Endurance Draining attacks, where are they?
Doomguide2005 replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
Yeah thinking back on specifically dealing with Eludes crash I'd ideally do it Eye of Magus first, (crash), then Geas. Eye needs endurance whereas Geas has no end cost. But in those days I had no timers etc.. so if I was late with Eye I'd have to pop a blue to trigger it. Usually 1 inspire was enough to ride the 20 second recovery debuff out and with those Accolades running it wouldn't take but seconds for the blue bar to fill even in the middle of the fight once the debuff ended. -
The other detail I should have clarified (mentioned) is you should be moving about the battle with Superior Invisibility toggled on. Made an assumption that this was the case. Attacking does not suppress your stealth from SI (you do lose half the +defense it provides). SI also carries a -100% threat (which reduces your threat value and aggro). That combined with the Taunt in PA, plus your various Traps (who are pets with their own threat/aggro lists) is why mechanically you should be basically ignored especially while PA is active.

Resist to Endurance Draining attacks, where are they?
Doomguide2005 replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
My long-time, old, back in the day solution for getting toggle dropped (often self inflicted by Elude on my /SR's) still works today in many circumstances. Geas of the Kind Ones followed by as necessary The Eye of Magus. Geas is a massive +recovery (+800%), +recharge (+100%), and +to hit (+25%). It does debuff defense (-10% base defense) so be wary of that. But that's also why I'd use Eye of Magus with it as that more than overcomes the defense loss in Geas (+50% defense, +30% resistance no Psi or Toxic). Values as per CoD. -
Can anything solo LRSF/Miss Liberty TF?
Doomguide2005 replied to DarknessEternal's topic in General Discussion
👍 I'm thinking in many ways the greatest balancing factor for inspirations is just how many folks tend to forget to use them in general play. I'd be rich if I earned inf every time I watched a video and saw someone faceplate without using inspirations they have visible in their tray. 🤪 -
Should a 50-foot Stealth Power Be Augmented?
Doomguide2005 replied to cohRock's topic in Arachnos Soldier & Widow
Cool, thanks good to know. And that works out to adding 5ft per level until the controller reaches 32 and 200ft -
Should a 50-foot Stealth Power Be Augmented?
Doomguide2005 replied to cohRock's topic in Arachnos Soldier & Widow
Where are you seeing this 80ft Controller cap? The hard cap per the HCwiki is listed at 200ft from level 32+. That does imply it scales up presumably starting at 8th level, the earliest it's available for an Illusion Controller. Using the slider in CoD it's still 200ft at lvl 8 so ... ? Also curious what you mean by "radius" as the power is a single target 'self' effecting power. -
For me the one that had myself and a friend banging our heads (a scapper blaster duo) against the wall was Lt Sefu Tendaji. Longbow Ballista in general are tough but sheesh. Haven't fought him with IOs/incarnates so suspect it be different these days but at that time we had a friend log into their Ice/Rad to help out before we could do him in. And my Claws/Nin Stalker had a hell of a time overcoming Biff a super arachnoid EB. Can't recall if Inventions were a thing yet but I know she didn't have any the first time, ugh.

Doomguide2005 replied to DarknessEternal's topic in General Discussion
? As far as I know and understand it if you have a level 50+5 boosted Quickfoot the enhancement bonuses do not cut out. They scale (the individual attributes) like any enhancement will. The set bonuses (if any) would drop and not apply below level 47 (3 levels below the enhancements level). You also could not place (i.e. slot) such an enhancement until you were level 47 or greater. Have I misunderstood something or what you are saying? Edit: Heh, minus points for missing macskulls post upthread. -
Should a 50-foot Stealth Power Be Augmented?
Doomguide2005 replied to cohRock's topic in Arachnos Soldier & Widow
The HCwiki article on Stealth should still be fairly accurate with regards to our stealth powers and afaik totally accurate with respect to foe perception. Minions - 45ft Lieutenants - 50ft Boss, EB, AV/Hero - 54ft Turret, GM - 100ft Sniper - 149ft Perception minus stealth equals the number of feet at which you'll be seen. So if zero or less you're effectively invisible. Which means your Bane should be 100% concealed (invisible) to Lts and minions. AFAIK level difference plays no part in this (Rank clearly does). Bosses, EBs and AV/Heroes will spot you if you get closer than 4ft. So yes to my mind I'd want a bit more. A stealth IO is an effective way to add some stealth to your overall value. Snipers will be the most common threat that doesn't outright ignore stealth. They can ruin your day by spotting you from a distance. If they attack and hit they'll suppress your stealth and now that mob you've safely approached sees you and all hell breaks loose. Note also the new Aeon SF has foes especially at the higher challenge ratings whose Perception base has been buffed (seems to be a fairly universal 66ft) but also may run Tactics or Tactics type powers. -
I suspect nerfing, altering or modifying PA will occur right after ... nevermind that'll never happen. Why do you see #3 as an issue? Earth Control for example does S, L and F damage. And has Immobilizes, Holds, Sleep, Slows, Stuns, Knock, etc..

Require Two Level 50 Characters to Get XP in AE
Doomguide2005 replied to Apparition's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Sorry but no. There's all sorts of issues with the proposal. Many of them mentioned through this thread. The biggest in my view is it doesn't solve a perceived problem I'm not convinced even exists in sufficient quantity to be worth solving via anything beyond needing to occasionally respond in chat about how to get someplace and what requirements might be involved in doing so. There are entire chat channels dedicated to Help that can solve the vast majority of these issues. If as a team leader/star one can't be bothered to help a teammate I'm not sure the game community doesn't have a bigger issue than the occasional totally wet behind the ears player seeking answers to what is considered a 'duh' question.
