Flypose emote macros in Afterburner tray
UltraAlt replied to Emerald Fusion's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't know where you get "a lot of players" from. I believe that to be speculation. I am definitely one that doesn't mind the popup tray. The popup that I don't like is the one that shows up in the middle of the screen blocking my view of the game in the middle of the fight when I get my first piece of salvage, first merit, etc. I mean ... I'm in combat fighting. Why is a pop-up showing up in the middle of my screen blocking my view while in combat!? -
Flypose emote macros in Afterburner tray
UltraAlt replied to Emerald Fusion's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
But the DEVs could add the flypose emotes to the tray popped up due to flight or mystic flight. I'm not saying that they will, but they could. -
Thanks for posting this. I was looking for this before logging in because the log-in system had change, and I was suspicious of what was going on. This should help other know that it is safe to use the new login system.

Okay. Let's game out a character at in this set. Level 1 : I pick the PT21 and the ST12. I have the basic brawl and I also have a thrown weapon from the archetype. I can use the ST1 to pull and then fight at close range with the PT2 and brawl and then fall back to use the thrown archetype weapon and the ST1 while the melee attacks recharge (or just stay in range and use the attacks while the melee recharge). The character likely takes fairly heavy damage and will need to take time to naturally recover between fights until they can level up and get rest. Attacks : brawl, archetype throwing weapon, PT2 Melee medium, and ST1 ranged light Armor - none Now let's skip ahead to level 10 : (7 powers total up to PT5 and ST4 + T1-2 for power pools or T3 power pool if travel) L1) I had already picked PT2 and ST1. L2) My next power pick was ST2 (the Melee defense or resist power - to make the character a bit more resilient). L4) Then combat jumping because I want more defense. L6) Then the PT4 cone power. L8) PT5 Mez protection as early as possible seems to be a good pick. L10) ST4 because I'm going to need that armor sooner or later. Attacks : brawl, archetype throwing weapon, PT2 Melee medium, ST1 ranged light, and PT4 melee cone Armor - ST2 Melee, Combat jumping (defense), and ST4 ranged Special - Mez protection Seems okay to me. Doesn't seem to be overpowered at this stage. 1 - PT# - primary tier # power 2 - ST# - secondary tier # power

It was fine to have them in both primary and secondary. They are usually all in the primary or secondary and no additional armors were added to the set that other sets don't already have. The level of percentages of those armors (defense or resist) versus damage is where the balancing happens. Blasters have both ranged and melee attacks. Dominators have both ranged and melee attacks. @Rudra's concepts is simply reversing that with melee being the primary and ranged attacks being the secondary. All melee primary sets have related armor (which is usually in the secondary). It does go outside-of-the-box of the other archetypes, but that does not mean it can't be balanced. I believe this archetype having armor can be balanced so it is not OP. I don't even think it would be that hard to do it. Sure. there are people that are going to try to break anything. That is simply what those kind of players want to do. But in the end, they are simply pointing out a nail that needs to be hammered down into position. The Homecoming team has been balancing over time, and, in the end, it will be their call about this hypothetical archetype.

Okay. How is an Archetype Enhancement like an Area-of-Effect power (unless of course the ATO is an AoE Proc.... which many of them aren't.)? Yes, you can by both sets. You can only slot one of each of the 6 of each set on your character as they are uniques. It is up to you if it is worth it or not to buy and slot either or both sets. When you slot set IOs (ATOs in this case), look at the set bonuses based on how many are slotted into a single power. Figure out if you want those bonuses. Figure out how to get the most out of those bonuses by splitting the ATOs up per power Some ATO sets give great bonuses for just slotting 2, sometimes it is 3, sometimes the great bonus is at 4 slotted <--- and, at that point, you need to figure if you want to slot them all in one power for other bonuses, slot the other two in something else, or just go with the 4 in that one power) You don't have to slot them all right away. You can alway add them over time. If you are looting into ATOs, I would also suggest looking into the universal damage set https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Overwhelming_Force - 2 in a power gives you +12% regen, 3 stack onto that +3% damage on all your powers. So by slotting three in one power and 3 in another power you will gain +24% regen and +6% damage for all of your attacks. ATOs will only slot into certain powers based on the archetype (masterminds being the most limited as the ATO's can only slot into the pet summon powers). Like all other enhancements, when you go to slot it, the powers that you can't slot in become grayed out. Slot the procs in low damage powers that can recharge and be used 4-6 times a minute. Don't use the procs in high damage powers that would benefit more from damage enhances. Balance out the set yielded accuracy with accuracy enhances to insure the level of accuracy you want out of an attack. You can use enhancement unslotters to pull enhances off the power and back into the tray. When you have a power in a try you can send an email to your global - your "@name" and and drop the enhancement from the tray into your email -or- if you have built a supergroup base (which I highly recommend doing if you haven't) then you can put the enhancement in a storage item in your base and any character in that super group that has a high enough ranking to access the storage bin (the access level can be set individually) can pull the enhancement out of that storage bin themselves. You can use /altinvite altname to invite one of your other characters to the supergroup. You can then go into the supergroup menu and level characters up to the desired level. By default, storage bins are set to be accessible only by the supergroup leader and the next tier down.

Or it could simply be armor in the primary and debuffs and shot controls in the secondary. Cut the armor down to simply melee, ranged, and AoE toggle options or simply a set based defense/resist click power possibly with a longer recharge time than an anti-mez power so that it could be triggered when in the thick of it for some extra protection. As I indicated previously, I thought that the armor might be a sticky point for some people, but I think it is really a matter of how much protection that is versus the amount of damage that the set can inflict. I see no reason why the damage can't be less than scrapper/sentinel level and with reduced range on the ranged attacks to balance out the melee/ranged damage with more protection than a blaster has, but less than a scrapper has. Without the armors, it becomes like a reverse of Dominators to some extent. Dominators are more-or-less Control/Melee (with some range attacks thrown in).

*Lyrics BANDERA NEGRA* It was a moonless night and evil sweated on the sea rain of fear, and the fog covered that storm with magic. Like a cloth the waters tore, time froze. They say that a ship emerged from the bottom, escaped from the underworld. They will avenge! So many wasted years, they will steal! All vital breath They will return!! From death and cold because today, the lost come to search. [A bit time consuming to break down all the translated lyrics in the stanzas, so here's the rest] The sails and the wind roar. The ritual will begin with the souls that are about to awaken from their coffin in the sea. Today the sea is dyed with blood, the spirits will come out and on the coast a voice can be heard shouting: Black flag in the sea, death is coming...!!! Some time ago a curse, after death, dictated that they always sail for eternity at the bottom of the sea. Only one night they can go out when there is no moon in April. The curse they can break if they manage to have a love. They will avenge! So many wasted years, they will steal! All vital breath They will return!! From death and cold because today, the lost come to search. The sails and the wind roar. The ritual will begin with the souls that are about to awaken from their coffin in the sea. Today the sea is dyed with blood, the spirits will come out and on the coast a voice can be heard shouting: Black flag in the sea, death is coming...!!! The waves, skin of the sea. Of pearls, his look. His hands, temporary. His clothes are coral. The waves, skin of the sea. Of pearls, his look. His hands, temporary. His clothes are coral. Dream, sleep. Dream, sleep. The sea cries blood. If you love me I can rest, be free and finally die. Tonight, we vampires own your blood and your soul. hide! Tonight the port will be a cemetery. We are children of the night and of pain. I promise to come back. On this April night, I will love you. I dream of having a life with you and that the sun dazzles us at dawn.

I disagree. You get all the primary and all the secondary powers on any character if you want. There are no more "armors" in the set than other scrapper sets. The "armors" being in both sets takes away powers from both primary and secondary which means that there are fewer melee powers in the primary that are made up for what is a fewer number of attack power in the secondary. In the end, there can't be any more power rotation than what recharge allows. I do not find this method of dividing up the power as being OP especially if you reduce the range of the ranged attacks. If the "armor" part is too powerful, the effect could always be tweaked down on that as well.
-
Why? What makes it resist or defense is based upon the power set and not if it is primary or secondary power set. From the original post : "Basically, I'm proposing an inverse Blaster AT. The primary pools would be more or less straight copies of the Scrapper sets. The secondary pools would be ripoffs of the Blaster's manipulation sets. With some obvious differences." Based on this, you have it backwards. Using your example, this thread is talking about a broad sword/pistols set which is a new archetype that doesn't currently exist. Over the course of the discussion so far it has more or less changed to melee primary and ranged secondary with a reduction of attack powers in both sets to make room for armor (resist/defense) and mitigation powers (challenge, mez protection, build-up) It breaks the Archetype mold with the goal of trying to balance the end result with the existing archetypes.

Best Method for Gaining Reward Merits Solo, Red Side?
UltraAlt replied to Astralock's topic in General Discussion
Is the question 1) What would be the most efficient way to obtain and accumulate reward merits red side, solo? 5) How do I get merits reside -solo - as quickly as possible? 3) How do I get merits redside - solo - without any effort on my part? The most efficient way to obtain and accumulate reward merits - solo - (whichever side you are on) is over time through marketing to make profits and turning profits into card packs. I agree full well there are players that don't want to take the time to do what they need to do in order to reach their goals and/or don't have patience enough to play City of Heroes for the long run. I do not see the number to be in abundance nor do I see it as a "stage" of the game. It is only a "stage" that those players have reached. The OP doesn't even indicate why they want merits? What do they want to spend merits on/what will they achieve by having merits? I'm not sure why it is considered a privilege. It took me a long time to obtain it and probably millions of clicks. It wasn't like the merits were gifted to me (maybe a card pack or two along the way - but that was long since paid back multiple times by card packs that I have given away through one mode or another).- 25 replies

Doesn't seem too overpowered on face value, but I think some people might think that the + regen is a bit high, but it would turn off pretty quickly if it has time to heal you ..... and below 25% really it would only have time to make much of a difference if you ran off from the enemies or had someone else pull your agro for 10-20 seconds.

Best Method for Gaining Reward Merits Solo, Red Side?
UltraAlt replied to Astralock's topic in General Discussion
Work the market and buy card packs. I don't use merits much because I can generally buy what I want on the markets with inf. Currently, in "Character items" from card packs, I have 1133 "25x Reward Merit (Salvage)", so 28,325 reward merits that I can pull out of "character items" on any character when I might need it. So yeah, I say work the market and by carc packs if you want merits ... even if it turns out that you don't need the merits because you're working the market.- 25 replies

Yeah. I thought this was a really great mini-series as well. I picked it up on the rack (well, as soon as I saw issue 1 or 2, I put it on my subscription list... so out of my subscription box at a local comic book store). It looked cool at the time, and it was a fun run.

I get eye pain from the all white ice powers (and people that just decide to make their character all white or glowing white and/or make all the powers white - which I can see to do for no other reason that to be annoying to other players ... to be frankly honest) as well. Here is what I have found works best for me. /macro fx0 "noparticles 1" /macro fx1 "noparticles 0" The command is noparticles so 1 means no particles; and 0 means "yes" to particles. This sounds backwards to me, and that's why my macros are fx0 (particles off) and fx1 (particles on). When you click on the /macro fx0 "noparticles 1" button in your tray, it will immediately take effect. When you click on the /macro fx1 "noparticles 0" button in your try, it will partially restore the FX, but FX won't be entirely restored until you zone. It is completely to my advantage to use this macros and I have them on all my characters. I used to have to leave teams due to people that used way to much white in their character and/or power set. Since using these macros, I'm not sure that I have had to leave any teams over the excessive whiteness issue. And for those of you that like white powers, if you put a little light blue in there ... that really helps cut down the eye pain for those of us that have an issue with the "blinding" white powers.

There are no real items unless you count the P2W powers from the P2W vendor, but none of those are snipes. You can use ranged enhancements on most ranged powers, but it is really better to go for +range from IO set bonuses in both the ranged attack and snipe sets. If you are going for range and high hitting power then you want to go with a blaster. Of course, Assault rifle as close as you can get to a sniper's rifle in City of Heroes. (https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Assault_Rifle#Sniper_Rifle) I would go with Assault rifle and devices or ninja training. Both have a stealth power. Ninja training's stealth power actually gives you a bonus to damage first attack coming out of being invisible, and that should be your sniper shot/snipe to maximize damage. (Shinobi - https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Ninja_Training#Shinobi) Devices (instead of Ninja Training) gives you caltrops that you can throw down to slow down enemies so you can pick them off and can get a targeting drone and smoke grenades in devices as well. And Field Operative (https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Devices#Field_Operative) is great to make sure you don't run out of endurance if you slot a couple of End Mods and Performance Shifter: Chance for + End proc in it (as well as in Stamina after 3 slotting it with end mods) I have a Punisher-Tribute character that is Assault Rifle/Devices and that works well for me. For me, I like to make sure I hit and, even if an attack power doesn't need it, I put 2 acc or 2 acc worth of accuracy bonus (from set IOs and their bonuses). There are some IO set bonuses that will buff the damage of all your attacks as well. There are diminishing returns after putting 3 of any one kind of enhancement into a power, but I try to put 2 or 3 damage enhances into my snipe power on any character I make with a snipe. That should be a good start at least. have fun.

@SleepyCatten I've managed to do it with a Logitech Controller/Gamepad that looks like a PS2 controller, but I haven't tried to do it with XBox controller. Some people have asked how to do it, but I haven't heard back that they were successful. The reason you can do it with the Logitech Controller/gamepad is that you can put it into a mode that makes the computer think it is a keyboard and then assign keystrokes to the buttons and sticks.

Like all knockback, it is a matter of how you use it. If you are fighting a single target, you could use your other melee powers, and then KI push them and follow up with your ranged attacks. If you are fighting multiple targets, you could use it to knock one back with Ki push and then fight the remaining ones that are close with melee attacks. Personally, I like to use Ki Push to throw enemies into walls and especially corners, use my other melee attacks until they start to stand up, then Ki push them again and repeat. Stick a Blistering Cold: Recharge/Chance for Hold in Ki Push and you might even hit them with a hold as well.
