  1. But seriously, I tint mine with a little blue and that goes a long way to save me eye pain. But I'm not just talking about ice/snow powers. I'm talking about characters where everything is white. And, yes, I have run into this. Character is totally white. All their powers are totally white. A big huge blob of white causing me so much eye pain that I have to leave teams. even a little gray is better than blindingly white. Snow blindness is a real thing. But before I go ... I would suggest not eating the yellow snow ....
  2. @twozerofoxtrot up at the top Browse - Activity - Account - FAQ - Support - Server Status - More If you click on that "Support" button, it shows all your support tickets and you can reply or amend to them there. If it is still an issue, post to that ticket thread and that should reactivate it. But I do understand where you are going with it, and that makes some sense to me because all the GM addressing the issue needs to do thumbs up or whatever when they want more information or when closing a ticket.

  5. I'm getting into this late, but, yeah, avoid the higher population servers. The higher the population the worse the behavior. It was true on live and it is true now. The most egregious will be on the most populated server. The RP'ers generally flock to the 2nd most populated server (and with them come the ERPers). Torchbearer tends to be pretty mellow ... especially these days when there seems to be an exodus to the more populated servers. I've never seen any lewd behavior on Reunion. Don't use any special channels. I would pull the /general channel. /help, /lfg, /broadcast, /team, and /supergroup (and maybe /local) are all you really need to play the game. If you are going to be the only one gaming with your children then team is really the only chat channel you need to be able to see. The tabs are easy enough to edit and remove channels.
  6. cave de novo foro usuario qui tendunt ad conflictum incitandum
  7. remove all entirely white color options from all costume, costume customization, and ice powers.
  8. Some of us have more catalysts than we know what to do with/bother to sell.
  9. Makes sense to me. Maybe I should have thought of that before leveling up my Christmas Elf character(s).
  10. The hurt is imposing a penalty on those that are below level 50 by making them log in all their characters. I will and always have logged in all my characters before a year passes. At this point, I go through every week and check to see which characters heading on 60 days (really 40 days at this point) and logging them in at least just for the log in . I have at least 141 characters at this point. I think I have made at least 1 or two more since last updating my spreadsheet. I'm not parking any characters at level 1. The lowest level characters I have are at level 14 at this point. If I go to join a team with people I don't know, I try to figure out the genre of the team leader by their name and try to match that to the character that I'm picking to play in the team. Sometimes I'm pairing up a character with someone that is less of an alt-jumper than I am. So I play the same character with them over long periods of time. Otherwise, I'm just like ... oh, I haven't played that character for a long time .. or I want to play x type of character. What isn't addressed here about the policy is why level 50's will be able to be sat on a shelf, forgotten about, and are immune to being renamed, when those characters below level 50 have to be logged in in order to retain names. You indicate it is a matter of playstyles. My playstyle precludes 50's. The few 50's I have are the least played characters that I have. There is no reason that those characters should be immune to being renamed when my sub 50's are not. And here you clearly have stated why 50's are nothing special these days. Which is pretty much my point as to why 50's shouldn't be immune to the renaming process. There seems to be no reason that characters over 50 should be immune other than legacy reasons in the renaming policy at this point. Because 50's are no longer something "special" then I feel that they should not be immune to the system. In addition to that, if we are concerned about name campers, the name campers will simply camp names by AE-afk-doorsitting to 50. They will do it multiboxing with 8x and filling teams with the characters names they want to hoard/squad. The people that want to hoard/squad will be protected by making 50's immune to the renaming process. Players that actually are playing their characters that aren't level 50 will be punished because the name hoarders. (not me. I'll be login in my characters regardless because I care about them ... even the 50's that are way back on the back burner)
  11. Thanks for providing it. It was not in my lexicon of known terms. I didn't know if it meant something specific to the person that was using the term. I'm not going to quit playing Homecoming if the 50's are still immune to the name release policy. I am, however, very solid on my stance and, hopefully, the DEVs will take that into consideration ... and that fact that others like you feel that 50's shouldn't be immune to the name release policy either.
  12. I agree. Again. I have no issue with the name release policy itself. I honestly don't care either way. However, if my characters have to be logged in every 365 days in order to keep the name (most of them not being level 50), then I think all level 50's should have to be logged in at least once year to keep that name. When people were paying a subscription for accounts I could understand some level of entitlement to a name of a character that a person leveled up to 50 ....before the AE was released. Once the AE was released, everyone that was around back then - especially when F2P was released, know how all the AE babies started showing up - showing quite clearly how easy it was to doorsit to 50 because it requires no knowledge or commitment to the game to doorsit to level 50. So, again, my stance is that if characters need to be active to retain their name up to level 49, that those characters above level 50 should not be immune to the same process. The purpose is to release names and, thus, someone that has level 50 characters are squatting/hoarding names just as much as much as a level 49 or below and should be treated the same. That is to say, they should have to log in to retain their name the same as everyone else. Simply put, the easy and fastest way to 50 is by AFK doorsit power-leveling. If a level 50 character is immune to the renaming process then AFK doorsit power-leveling is the easiest and fastest to gain that immunity. Any one that "really wants" a name is more likely to immediately AFK doorsit power-level to 50 once the system goes live. I do not believe that players deserve the immunity because they AFK doorsit power-leveled a character. Does that mean I believe that all 50's were power leveled? No. Does that mean that I think those that played their characters to level 50 should be punished? No. I don't think that requiring players to log in level 50 characters to retain that character name is any more of a punishment then making players log into their level 49 and below characters in order to achieve the same thing - name retention. But, also, yes. Based on your definition of "opportunity cost". It isn't worth me taking the time stating the same points over and over again to people that can't understand. I have defended my point, my stance, and my opinion.
  13. And I answered that for me. However, any player(s) that want a name release policy should be concerned about a someone hoarding names by having 300 level 50 ... because, currently, those 300 hoarded name would be immune to the name release policy simply because they are level 50. I'm even going to go out on the limb here (but it seems pretty strong), that the more level 50's someone has, the more likely it is that they are power-leveling them to 50 ... and the more likely that they are power-leveling them just to hoard names. [Someone that has a special name that they consider to be their own are going to take the time to log the character regardless] I don't understand your term "no opportunity cost".
  14. Yes. Some will cheat the system any way that they can. And this is exactly why there will be a rush to powerlevel characters to 50 in order to keep names if the name release policy allows 50's to keep their names without having to log in to the character ... ever.
  15. No. I don't have the numbers to prove it. And I doubt the DEVs keep track of how many characters made it to level 50 within 5 or so hours (I'm sure some less than that!) It is an assumption on my part. It would be nice if it could be confirmed that it is true. The rate that I see people asking for doorsitters and people asking for doorsiting positions, it seems pretty clear what is going on. I also see how people say that once they get their first 50 that they powerlevel the rest of their characters, so there is evidence of it going on. Thanks for this at least.
  16. I do if they don't have to log in to play their character once a year to keep their name, and I have to log my characters in once a year because I don't want to play the end-game. If it is a name release policy, make the 50's log in like everyone else.
  17. I think the costume creator is awesome. I mean really incredible even at the start, and it has been improving since then ... even on Homecoming. I can't say how grateful I am to be able to play a 3D MMORPG superhero game with CoH's level of complexity and detail. Strengths? The variety. Weaknesses? Sometimes I can't get parts of powers to be the colors that I want because of the available template of colors, but I find that to be a minor issue. Oh, and allowing players to make all white costumes and powers. I can't say how painful it is to my eyes to stare at a bunch of white on the screen. I use /macro fx0 "noparticles 1" and /macro fx1 "noparticles 0" to mitigate this issue as much as I can. Sometimes I have to leave teams/task forces because my eyes just can't handle it anymore. Just a little bit of blue in there cuts down the pain enough that I can tolerate it. Well the obvious! More customization! More costumes! Just more! more! (but this isn't really that needed, I don't use all the parts that we already have for us to use!) ...and, obviously, don't allow completely white color selection. I'm guessing between 5 minutes and about 30 minutes max (if I'm having problems finding a costume part or really tweaking the power customization). I doubt I ever spent and hour on a costume, but I'm guessing I may have taken up to 45 minutes (for one reason or another) on some costumes. Not any more. They are mostly on weekends. I'm not sure that I ever hosted one. I probably should. All the ones I have participated in have been fine. Won some, lost a lot more. Generally, cool costumes all around. I've seen them run by a single character and others run by supergroups with multiple judges. The length of time for formation has generally been (from announcements to start) about 30 minutes and usually a starting time is given with the location so you have plenty of time to get there. Actual judging time between about 10-20 minutes would be my guess ... based on the size of the turn out and the number of judges and if the judge(s) are reading bios or not. Declaring winners and passing out prizes usually less than 10 minutes. Rewards vary, but I'm there for the fun of showing of my costumes and to see what costumes other players want to show off. It's cool to see how other people figure out to use costume parts on their characters. You've probably seen at least one of my costumes in game unless you only play level 50 content.
  18. I think not. I think it makes it more clear why level 50's should not be immune to the renaming process. It used to be a badge of achievement to get to level 50, that is not longer the case. That is long gone. You can doorsit a character in the AE, go AFK in a couple of hours, and the character is level 50. If a character that has played 100s of hours and isn't level 50 is going to be open for renaming when the set days away have been reached, AFK power-leveling behavior should not reward a character by making them immune to renaming. If the system goes live, all characters should have to log in order to stop the renaming process. No characters should be immune simply because they are level 50.
  19. My confusion. I thought they were purples because it shows up as a purple set. I see that even though it is Purple in the Market that you can still slot it at level 7. Because it is purple in the Auction House, that always confuses me and then I forget about it the next time I see it purple.
  20. I stated why in the first post you responded to. To repeat the relevant parts "...But I will make my point again, why is a level 50 that hasn't been played for a year immune to being renamed?! It seems to be that it is only legacy reasons from the original game. My guess is - that at this point in Homecoming - most level 50's were power-leveled to 50. Level 50 isn't being earned by playing the game and leveling up. Level 50 status is being given to characters because they were inside of the door of a farming mission while the player is most likely afk or multiboxing while playing a 50 on another account to level up the "doorsitter".... There is no reason that a character power-leveled to 50 and left sitting for a year should be protected from renaming when a sub-50 character that put in more game time actually playing the game should be renamed after being left sitting for a year." "...I do not believe that someone that has a power-leveled 50 that hasn't played that character for a year feels that that character's name is important. In fact, by not logging that character in for that long, it is proving that they don't feel that the character is important enough to them to log them in simply to keep the name...." "...Additionally, making level 50's immune to renaming not only condones but promotes level 50 as the way to play CoH and, thus, promotes power-leveling to 50 to avoid "the hassle" of the actual game (eg non-end-game content)...." It was all in there if you read it. If it is activated, I would hope that level 50's would have to log in at least once every 365 days. If that is not the case, then I am against it being activated at all.
  21. I indicated that was "my input". In other words, "If level 50's are immune to the naming release policy, then - IN MY OPINION - no character names should be released."
  22. ... and that is all good and nothing wrong with that. Understandably and you clearly defined the definitions for each category in this contest. I'm assuming this is correct as well. I build theme bases that mostly have obvious/easy access to teleports and utility contacts in the first room outside of the entrance room and then the other rooms based on that theme that may not be easily/obviously accessible from that teleport/utility-contact (leveling/enhancement/insp/crafting) room. Storage items are no more than cosmetics to visitors so I personally see no reason to put them front-and-center in a base. I craft a supergroup like I build a character. A certain supergroup concept maybe the the start and then I build characters to populate the supergroup. I may have characters and then decide to build a supergroup and related base to support that theme. But, now, I'm meandering because I'm tried .... sorry ... Makes sense. And I think you did a good job of defining them in the post I relied to. My post wasn't about my confusion with your definitions (which is about as clear as they can be ... all considering the level of freedom we have) I am bit intrigued about how a base can show a story. I'm probably already doing it, but how others define this and/or "see" the story in a base is interesting to me. The Supergroup Registry is very limited. It would be nice to expand this, but I'm sure that there are far more bases than there were on live due the lack of need for prestige to build bases. I would be nice if there were some flags to click on the supergroup settings that would indicate; 1) category (with RP and Transport Hub/Utility checkboxes at least), 2) display passcode (on/off), ... ? A Supergroup search could show you all the bases flagged as RP with the passcode (if activate);all the bases flagged as both RP and Transport Hub/Utility with the passcode (if activate); etc. How many people would use it? I don't know. So maybe it is just a thought experiment. The end results seems to be the definitions are for contests only. Nothing wrong with that. You always do. You put your thoughts and time into it. I appreciate that.
  23. I think it is important at this point to go back to this: Level 1-5 characters will be flagged as inactive if they have not been played in the last 30 days. Level 6-49 characters will be flagged as inactive if they have not been played in the last 365 days. Level 50 characters will never be flagged as inactive. As it has been some time since the policy was first announced, in order to ensure that players have sufficient time to act on protecting names they actively intend to use, the system will go live in Page 4 in Warning Mode Only. This inactivity flag will be displayed in the character list to identify which characters have names that would be at risk, but while the system is in warning mode, no characters will be renamed, and no names can be lost. [NOTE: It is documented that some characters are being flagged with the warning incorrectly. The statement above does not indicate that incorrectly flagged characters will not be at risk. It only indicates that the system is in "warning mode" and no active renaming is going on.] At a later date to be announced, the system will be fully activated. After that point, players will be able to create new characters using any of the inactive names, which results in the inactive character being renamed. {NOTE: The above statement implies that, if the system was live, "inaccurately flagged" characters would be considered to be "inactive" when they were "inaccurately flagged" by the system, and could be renamed.] *** My Stance on the Renaming Policy *** I understand the want by some for the renaming policy. But I will make my point again, why is a level 50 that hasn't been played for a year immune to being renamed?! It seems to be that it is only legacy reasons from the original game. My guess is - that at this point in Homecoming - most level 50's were power-leveled to 50. Level 50 isn't being earned by playing the game and leveling up. Level 50 status is being given to characters because they were inside of the door of a farming mission while the player is most likely afk or multiboxing while playing a 50 on another account to level up the "doorsitter". There is no reason that a character power-leveled to 50 and left sitting for a year should be protected from renaming when a sub-50 character that put in more game time actually playing the game should be renamed after being left sitting for a year. I can agree with the level 1-5 monthly log in. I could even agree with a sub level 20 log in every 6 months. But I think if there is going to be a 365 day log in required for a level 21-49, then all level 50's should have to log in every 365 days as well. I'm and alt-jumper and I already go through my characters and make sure that they have logged in far less time than the current "standards" for the warning. Sure, I don't always "play" them when I log-in, but I'm taking time to protect what I think is important. I do not believe that someone that has a power-leveled 50 that hasn't played that character for a year feels that that character's name is important. In fact, by not logging that character in for that long, it is proving that they don't feel that the character is important enough to them to log them in simply to keep the name. Remember, it isn't deleting the character when they are "flagged inactive". It isn't even automatically removing the character name from the character when they are "flagged inactive" . It is only "flagging" the character as "inactive"; and, at that point, their name will only be genericize if another player on that server tries to name their character by that "inactive" character's name. Additionally, making level 50's immune to renaming not only condones but promotes level 50 as the way to play CoH and, thus, promotes power-leveling to 50 to avoid "the hassle" of the actual game (eg non-end-game content). Being a 50 doesn't mean that it used to mean. When/if the enforcement of the policy goes live because it is so important to "free-up names", then all characters should have to be logged in at least once a year to protect that character's name. Otherwise, my input is never activate the "renaming policy".
  24. @Easter Bunny (as not to be accidently left out of the loop) Should bases listed in the wiki be listed to conform with these 3 base types? Does a Utility base have no NPCs other than utility NPCs in it? Are there other specific definitions that we should be going with as a community? https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Everlasting_Base_List lists base types and breaks the base listing down into these categories (each category having its own alphabetical order) as Commercial/Office, Commercial Retail, Dining, Entertainment and Night Life, ERP Focused, Government, Industrial, Mixed, Other/Misc, Residential, Rural/Wilderness, Transit Hub, and Unknown. Someone decided to go in and setup all those categories and sort the bases that were around at the time into the category that they felt that they should be in and not the category that someone may have originally posted their bases to. So, basically, RPG (Commercial/Office, Commercial Retail, Dining, Entertainment and Night Life, ERP Focused, Government, Industrial, Mixed, Other/Misc, Residential, and Rural/Wilderness) and Utility (Transit Hub and Unknown?) if I'm breaking those down into RPG and Utility properly. If they are multi-purpose, they appear to be mixed within the RPG and Utility. In comparison, https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Torchbearer_Base_List (much shorter list) does not break down the base list into categories, but simply has a column for the category within the table. Each poster defines/list a category of their choosing with no defined restrictions. In general, the non-Everlasting listings use mainly 2 listing types; Transit Hub (Utility?) and Open (RPG?) The impact for classifications in this sense appears to be for contest purposes only at this point. Homecoming has been pretty free-form in regards to many aspects of the game. We haven't had Base Community Reps for long, so this is something that hasn't been discussed/defined clearly before.
  25. Correct. If an attuned enhancement is purple, a character can only slot them at level 50. Here is an example of what I was saying. Experienced Markman is a Purple set. You can only buy it attuned on the Market as a purple. (If you can buy it attuned on the Market as non-purple, please let me know. I don't see how to do it). That being said, I can buy an Experienced Marksman recipe as low as level 10, craft it (or purchase a crafted level 10 on the Market), slot it at level 10, and attune it. It doesn't make it a purple if attune it at level 10, but it is a Purple IO enhancement set, it is attuned, and it levels up to 50. You can have that attuned, non-purple Experienced Marksman from 10 to 50+, use an unslotter to take it out at level 50, sell it on the market, and buy the purple version. I haven't done testing to compare an attuned non-purple Experienced Marksman at level 50 to a purple Experienced Marksman so I have no idea if the results of their slotting are any different. If this doesn't clearly explain what I was saying in the post you replied to, please let me know.
