  1. Well, I do have several characters that would use this one.
  2. Off topic, but the one stuck in my head at this point is
  3. "Pulse bolts" are also "repulsor ray" technology ... with higher damage ..., so I figure they would do even more knockback than a "repulsor rays". So, yeah, energy blast just like normal "repulsor rays"
  4. Well, "[looking to roleplay - talk to me in /local or send me a tell]" would probably go a long way. I don't know if the rper flag helps or not. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Roleplaying_(Slash_Command) It looks like you already have those bases covered. There is really no way to know if you are trying to ERP with a minor or not, so unless you actually know the person, I would suggest avoiding ERP in game.
  5. Wow. What Shard are you paying on? I can't say that I have seen bios on every Shard, and they are few and far between sometimes, but I know I have seen other players with bios on Reunion, Torchbearer, Everlasting, and Excelsior ... and I only usually have time to look for them when standing around waiting for a DFB or task force to start. Try going to the bars upstairs in the Pocket D on Everlasting and you will run into RP's just /emote'ing or just standing there without an emote even and most ... if not all of them ... have bios. Heck, even characters just standing around in the main room of the Pocket D often have bios. I guess if you are on Excelsior, you get what comes with being on the most populated server. I have been lucky this time around and only run into two stalkers that were following my characters around or trying to go on "quiet walks" with them or what not. Server jumping has always been good for me. I still do it all the time. My homage characters costumes always look different from the character they are a homages to, but with the same basic flavor often with color palette changes. Kind of the way I do with my bios. I don't recall ever having even one of my characters' names or customs being genericized. ...well, except for when I genericized all my character bios, changes their costumes to Praetorian androids, paraded them all out to the statue in front of City Hall in Altas, and then blew them up with https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Inherent_Powers#Self_Destruction when I cancelled my subscription almost a year exactly before the Sunset... ... but the DEVs didn't do that directly to my characters ... the DEVs only prompted me to do it through the changes to the game and NCSoft trying to squeeze as much money out of F2Prs and subscribers alike.
  6. Before the Sunset, I was experimenting with auction house. I was able to get millions on level 1 characters (more than one) through nothing but trade in the auction house. I can't remember if I level locked them or not, I'm sure I would have if it was an option back then (we must have been able to, because you would get more influence if you did .. if my mind is remembering correctly) I would fight for some salvage and then start flipping salvage until I had enough to start flipping enhancements. I kind of think I even had some level ones with enough loot saved up that I was able to start crafting (I think they were limited to holding and auctioning 3 at a time) ... probably 35 and 40 recharge IO enhances as crafted a lot of those back then before it became ludicrously cheaper buy them and flip them than to craft them even with the crafting discount due to memorization. I also had level ones that would travel to zones/area of the map that they shouldn't be able to survive getting to. The market was way worse before the Sunset. It was especially worse on the Villian and Praetorian side with the currency hadn't been combine yet. There is salvage seeding on Homecoming so there is very little manipulation of the salvage market which makes crafting less expensive. Someone gifted me 30 million when they found out that I as a returning player. I started trading with that and have given way-way more than that to other players directly or indirectly. If you do your costume changes below level 10, they don't cost anything. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Fashion_Designer_Badge can help with the price after that Oh, there was plenty of stuff that cost millions before the Sunset. There are plenty of level 50 enhances selling for more than 10 million. Heck one of the reasons in addition to the pay-to-advance incarnate system (even if you were a subscriber) and all the micro-transactions (even if you were a subscriber) was how ridiculous the market was getting. Remember those level 35-40 recharge enhances I was talking about earlier? There was so much influence flying around from AE farmers and gold-farmers that players were throwing money at the AI like it was nothing. I was crafting for probably something like 75k and selling for 150k or something but then people started selling them and buying them at 4 million for some reason. I stopped running between the Wentworths to the University in Steel Canyon to craft and rebuild my stock to just buying them at 100-200k and selling them back for 4 million each ... on pretty much all of my 100+ characters. It just go to the point that it was "what's the point?" I didn't start it. I just followed along with the flow of the market. ... which is the same thing I do here. The /AH is the most balanced PvP in the City of Heroes. And when it comes down to it, if you yell out for some help with infl in the /help channel, you are probably going to get some help ... unless you get known for trying to exploit other people's heroic nature.
  7. or maybe just make a goblin supergroup and see who wants to join up. Let me know what server it is going to be on and I might show up ... I play at weird times and my schedule is not always the same.
  8. Well, you can make a cell phone a mobile hotspot. I'm assuming that flying drones could be set up the same way - without a password (or simply 911 as password). One drone flies out the extent of the ability its ability to receive a signal by trying to stay with range (perhaps somehow tethering itself to the top of a tree or outcropping) then another flying drone that is connected through the first drone's hotspot flies out to do the same thing related to the first), etc. Of course, it would need to be setup for emergency use only due to the probably bandwidth and probably follow the same laws and regulations as any other 911 call. I don't know if that would work in actuality or the cost factor that may be incurred, but it seems like it could possibly for areas without cell phone towers. Another option would be drones large enough to carry and power an uplink to Starlink or one of its upcoming competitors (preferably) with the ability to work as hotspot as well. (which I'm assuming would still be cheaper than using a human-piloted helicopter to do the same thing) The video reminds me of a couple of Hawkwind songs.
  9. There is that thin line between making robot or android humanoid without creating something that can fool humans into believing that it is a human ... even if only the upper part of the body is showing and people are seeing it on television or in a video broadcast ... like ... if I remember correctly ... in Philip K. Dick's The Penultimate Truth

    Ninjas

Switch the bow attacks to shuriken (like in https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Martial_Assault) Yeah, switching blinding powder in for https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Ninjas#Smoke_Flash would help with survivability in general. I have https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Concealment#Grant_Invisibility on all my ninja masterminds I try to stay close to them and use 2 of 3 of these: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Mark_of_Supremacy:_Endurance/Pet_%2BResist(All)_and_%2BRegen_Aura https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Command_of_the_Mastermind:_Recharge/Pet_%2BAoE_Defense_Aura https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Expedient_Reinforcement:_Resist_Bonus_Aura_for_Pets Of course, slot up Train Ninja with defense and Kuji In Zen with heal. I'm usually alway in defensive/tank mode and targeting through my highest level henchman. Well, you can keep summoning them all day. How does that saying go? Something like one ninja is very dangerous, but a bunch of ninja are easily defeated while one pirate is not a threat, but a bunch of pirates are dangerous.
  11. I don't end up role-playing much other than designing my character and writing a bio which I do before ever zoning into THE CITY. If someone start rp'ing at me, I'll rp back at them, but I'm not trying to use any standardized rp behavior because I'm mainly focused on playing the game when I'm running around doing stuff in THE CITY. I'm a character conception player. Generally, having a general character conception gives me a good idea of what is going to go on in their bio (if not the archetype and power sets immediately). I write a couple different kinds of bios based on the character conception. Standard one is a 3rd person origin story which may or may not integrate the character's connection to THE CITY. Some of a kind of rambling 1st person account of the character in general and possibly their origin. Some villain characters it is an APB issued by some authority or another. If it is a homage character, I'll take the basics of the original character conception and twist the bio enough that it fits with the homage concept. I think I have some kind of in-your-face ones as well ... over 150 characters all with bios so I kind of do some crazy off-the-wall stuff sometimes.
  12. We need to have an invasion even where the Praetorian Androids show up on Primal Earth and start attacking .... only to get attacked minutes later by the real Clockwork with Babbage and a Paladin lead by the Clockwork King and Penny Yin! Have the Praetorian Androids swarm out of the portals in the Portal Corps building, make their way out to Peregrine Island proper, and start trying to "clean up" everything in sight to proper Praetorian "cleanliness". Then, moments laterTM, the REAL Clockwork come swarming out of the ferry and start heading for Portal Corps (battling all that get in their way) for the huge battle with "fake" clockwork ... I mean ... Praetorian Android hordes!

  13. I've been using the one in Kings Row for working on story arcs for a long time. No one comes there. It is a nice quiet place to work when I get around to it.
  14. Thematically, what I think tht kinetic melee is supposed to mimic on the Wuxia level is to absorb incoming energy and redirect it back toward the attacker. Take The Dragon Subduing Palm (降龍十八掌) for an example. In that framework, maybe shifting https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Kinetic_Melee#Power_Siphon (which tries to work the melee in line with the defender primary set) to an auto power that increases damage with minor + to hit that gains levels as the character take damage by enemy attacks (damage-in equates to the bonus versus the percentage of deletion of the hit point bar so that the damage increases over levels as characters are able to take more HP of damage.) This would build stack charges that would be released with the +damage and + to hit with certain powers used; I'm assuming https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Kinetic_Melee#Smashing_Blow, https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Kinetic_Melee#Repulsing_Torrent, https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Kinetic_Melee#Repulsing_Torrent, https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Kinetic_Melee#Burst, https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Kinetic_Melee#Focused_Burst, and https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Kinetic_Melee#Concentrated_Strike. So those in battle with multiple foes, would be constantly getting levels of the power and depleting them frequently throughout combat. Once the character is no longer in combat or the leveled of siphoned power would time-out over time (I would say in a matter of seconds) Of course, being a knockback-fan, I would also like the siphon power have an increased knockback effect, so I'm adding it last as I think many would be against it ... though it fits well with the Wuxia genre. The calculation for a cap on how much damage would be added would have to be calculated backwards from highest level damage potential and possibly ramp up a bit based on the lowest level that a character can have the power so that there is a benefit to have the power at the lowest possible level obtainable but balancing it out so that it does not become OP at highest level with the possible combination of other effects. ack out of time.letting my team down ... have to run.
  15. Teams I'm on tend to have teleport target on one or more characters. We teleport them around the corner and out of the line-of-sight of their mob and jump them. If a character or more on the team have holds, we uses the hold(s) on the Sappers as soon as they materialize from the teleport target or first if we directly engage a mob with sappers.
  16. Who said something didn't happen? You are refuting the fact that I didn't experience it with a nothing argument. Maybe you experience what you did because you became known for using knockback in an irresponsible manner. I didn't say that before, but you are putting this into a different field of interaction. All of the NCSoft CoH servers were shutdown at the same time. What "the servr"? What are you evening talking about at this point? Okay. But just because you say that was happening for you doesn't mean it is happening for everyone. I mean you haven't even been to Australia. or is that not how we are trying to discuss things? It seems like that is the way you want this to go. ... and, yeah, so as you say ... I was primarily a PuG player. I still am. I have friends list, but I tend to play with PuGs rather than have a friend tell me to join a team more sending friends a tell to join a team. I teamed up on all the servers, some more than others. The same goes here. There are a couple - like before the Sunset - I don't play on often. So how exactly does that go down? /lft antiknockbackking, LF2M for Yin. /t antiknockbackking, I'll join! antikockbackking, I'm not going to send you an invite because you are an energy blaster. How would they even know? Oh, they were on your friends list and you had a reputation for not using knockback in team friendly manner. Got it. Sounds rough. My energy blaster made it to 50 on live by PuG'ing with no farming and never rejected from joining or ejected from a team for playing an energy blaster. I've always been opposed for farming in all forms. I see. Thanks for letting me know the kind of people you run with. It all makes more sense in totality now.
  17. I don't think you understand the farmer/door-sitter connection. They are never going to stop using /lfg
  18. It only ever was in small select groups that were very vocal. You're basing playing CoH and knockback use on "farming"? Wow. I've actually never seen that happen with shield rush. Fold-space will put a group neatly in a line for shield rush. Odd. I'm unsure what "even on Virtue" means. Does that mean "on Virtue" rather than "on Freedom" or any server at all? I used to run a Energy blaster on Champion all the time. I had other ones on Guardian and Triumph that I ran sometimes. I don't remember ever running into issues playing them. All that being said, I don't end-game.
  19. Too hard to find the one in Kings Row?
  20. That isn't the only AE location with terminals. You don't have to be in a co-op zone to write an AE mission. Vigilanties and Rogues can go to both hero and villain side so one quick trip to Null the Gull can allow heroes and villains to become rogues or vigilantes so they can travel to any AE building to participate in AE missions. There is no need to make full zone just for AE use simply for you to enjoy standing in the open world while creating missions, AE mission selecting, and accessing an AE holodeck. I don't know how many would want this kind of thing, but the AE is probably used for 90%+ farming. Which is a shame because the DEVs original said that they would ban any accounts that used the AE for farming. But it is what it is at this point.
  21. Yeah, too bad we have to fight the cheesy Praetorian knock-offs in the higher level missions that aren't supposed to be in Praetoria (heck, even if they are supposed to be in Praetoria!) Calling the Praetorian Androids "clockwork" is an insult to true clockwork! Glorious!
  22. It isn't "upcoming". It isn't going to happen. There might be some other superhero game, but won't be a "City of Heroes" 2. NCSoft isn't going to make it. NCSoft has proven that they don't feel that City of Heroes' monetary return isn't worth operating it.
