I, too, had a purpled out SS/Elec on live. Oh, the fun we had... But yeah, I skipped Power Surge as well. More room for Pyre Mastery. :D

Made a slight correction to your overall very accurate post.

Powerset Suggestion: Circus Performers
Rylas replied to Trickshooter's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Please tell me they show up in tiny cars. -
Hmm, sounds pretty tough. I'm not sure I'll be able to squeeze in much more resist in the build. It currently sits at 40% S/L with bonuses and Tough. But you've given me food for though with the Preventive Medicine unique.

Levelled content solo brute: spines/bio, spines/rad, rad/bio, or rad/rad?
Rylas replied to Gilsamania's topic in Brute
Rad/Bio is another great pairing. -Def and -Res debuffs, along with Contamination, provide some very decent AoE damage. -
True, GC wouldn't fit the "Venus of Willendorf" that OP was referring to, but considering the big hero model in the game scales from muscular to (subjectively speaking) more overweight, there big female hero could have the same range.

That would be so much fun to watch LOL. Would the anchor also be KB'd or just everyone around the anchor? XD Hmm. Based on my understanding of game mechanics (which is flawless), I would expect that if the KB is an added effect to the debuff, and the debuff affects those around the anchor, then yes, those around the anchor would be KB'd as well. But the anchor would be KB'd in relation to the caster, while those affected would be KB'd in relation to the anchor.

I figured that's who TfStormcry was referring to, I just try to use actors/models names if I know them. She is very much on point for OPs suggestion though.

Could this be applied to more than just attacks? Could it, say, be applied to Taunt? Or what about to other support powers, like anchor debuffs?

I'm trying to make sure I have enough HP recovery in my SR/Dark tanker. I've planned out a build that hits the incarnate soft-cap, has 300+ HP, 62.5% global recharge, and has 20% heal in Siphon Life (basically 17.5% heal with the additional HP). Not having played SR/ before, I'm not sure if this would be enough heal for most of my needs. The only situation I can think of being difficult would be mostly Psi damage encounters, since some Psi isn't tagged positionally. Thoughts or insights?

Character Name: Guess the AT and Powers

+1 As a fan of body builder girls, it would be great to have some more muscular female characters around. Think Gina Carano or Carriejune Bowlby. Something that better suited the Amazonian/Wonder Woman look. Sadly, I'm not sure that's a request that could be done without massive amounts of rework to the character builder.

I wish Elec attacks had a different side effect
Rylas replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
+1 for some Damage/End Mod sets. I think having 2-3 of those would be great. But I wouldn't consider them a proper solution to actual game mechanic issues. Maybe change the set name to Energy Bleed though. :)- 21 replies

I wish Elec attacks had a different side effect
Rylas replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
On the subject of the effect not being substantial or negligible, this is the case for most secondary effects at end-game. Beside the special few (like Sonic's -res), how often does the -ToHit of dark or the -Def of the sword sets play any role on a team with capped defense buffs? I'm gonna have to disagree on this one. -ToHit and -Def can definitely have more impact than -End or End Return. Having -ToHit from Dark Melee couples well with defense based sets. -Def compounds over just a couple of hits to make a target much easier to hit. If we're going to make special team buff circumstances the standard, then of course secondary effects can be overshadowed. You might as well ask how does any secondary effect play a role on a damage capped team? But in solo play, -ToHit and -Def can do a lot for someone. -End and End Return don't appear to have significant impact when; 1) enemies powers cost nearly zero endurance, and 2) you only see about 1 TOs worth of end reduction with the amount of end you come away with (if OPs numbers are to be trusted). Currently, in solo play, -End doesn't provide as much survival or performance enhancement. It definitely could use a bit of boost. I'm not sure why people insist on bringing up IOs to show how set performance is balanced. Perhaps your perception of how well the -End secondary effect works is because you're using an IO build to base your opinion on. My experience with Electric power sets certainly doesn't reflect yours.- 21 replies

These questions have already been addressed early on in the thread. Here: And here: I think straight up removing it would have to come with some other downside. The thing we want to avoid is it becoming a "just set it on auto and forget about it" power, as that runs counter to the intent of both the original design and Castle's redesign of it. Even removing the damage penalty (due to the mentioned smashing resist issues) isn't out of the question if we can come up with some kind of alternative mechanic. I'm going to follow the "Keep it simple, stupid" philosophy on this one. Just replace -DEF with a self-damage. No rewriting the book. No tweaking 100 things. Just one little change. It affects defense and resist sets equally, and if you're double or triple stacking then you better be paying attention.

Please remove the -DEF crash on Rage
Rylas replied to ShardWarrior's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Usually, I'd agree with you. But hasn't that thread become a long winded mess? I ask because I couldn't bring myself to keep going back to it. Maybe it's improved since then. There are several Dev posts in that thread that are kind of critical to the conversation I think. This post, if history is our guide, can only serve to dredge up the worst of the arguments without any of the context that got us there... Hmm... I'll give it another try then. -

Please remove the -DEF crash on Rage
Rylas replied to ShardWarrior's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Oh boy, here we go again. Let's hope this thread stays more productive. Making it standard Build-Up would end up hurting SS as a set overall. Increasing the recharge so it can't be made perma with SOs also would hurt the set. I can see making it non-stackable, but as long as the draw-back that its crash provides is bad enough, I don't see being stackable as an issue. The real problem with the current situation is that it favors some armor sets over others, and that's not ideal. My suggestion instead of -DEF is having self-damage added to the crash. Just take whatever amount of damage -DEF was meant to cause, and start there. Keep all the other penalties as is. Just one change. Not an entire re-write to a power or a whole set. Keep it simple, amirite? -
I wish Elec attacks had a different side effect
Rylas replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I would agree that as they stand, electric based sets don't really offer a great secondary effect. Instead of a different side effect, why not just make adjustments to the current side-effect. One option would be tweaking the numbers for drain/endurance return and for the -recovery. I would agree 1 TO's worth of effective endurance reduction isn't really helpful. But if you were averaging 1 SO's worth I think that would be pretty substantial. Or being able to stop an AVs end recovery with enough constant attacks wouldn't be OP if you ask me. Another option would be similar to what Coyote was suggesting. Have powers inside sets that increase how much end drain/return is done in follow up attacks. When enough charge is built up, have finisher attacks that drain/return a larger amount of endurance and floor recovery on the target. So for long drawn out boss/AV fights, the secondary effect really makes a difference, but for shorter fights you're mainly keeping your own endurance at higher efficiencies. As long as we're not creating situations where electric sets basically have free endurance all the time, then I don't see it being OP to make some tweaks to the numbers.- 21 replies

Power customization: Low blow for some melee attacks
Rylas replied to Emma Usher's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The Benny Hill in me says +1. I can see the character names already. The Nut Cracker. Berry Blaster. Moose Knuckle Knuckler. Marble Mangler. Gun the Jewels. Mashed Yams. Tragic Beans. Molesticles. Stones Melee. (being equal opportunity) The Clam Blam. Sushi Slap. Beaver Cleaver. Jab in the Box. Hoo Hoo Kung Fu. The Gash Mash. And my all-time, gender neutral, personal favorite: Punch Junk Love. But the practical part of me realizes we won't get it. But hey, thanks for the laughs. :D -
Are there any underpowered power sets you'd like to see buffed?
Rylas replied to Harrow's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I think that's being a bit narrow-viewed on the issue, though. Just looking at its scale damage skews the way things look. As pointed out earlier in the thread with spread sheets, ET's DPA ends up being way lower than the powers you listed. And taking into consideration how much faster other sets can take out whole groups with AoE, even if ET was to out-perform for single target damage, you're still balanced out with having to take out most of a group one foe at a time. -
Sweet! Keep us updated on how it goes!

A few ideas come to mind: Rad/Sonic Defender – You can debuff foes to extreme levels that will make her feel like she's unstoppable. With her innate defense abilities, your -to hit will effectively be like soft-capping. Then you'll increase her damage by weakening them. Fun times. Dark/Dark Controller – Lots of mezzy goodness in both powersets, as well as a strong heal and some added protection for her Psi weakness. And hey, a couple of pets for good measure. Fire/Kin Corruptor – Lots of damage buffing and damage output.

Unless you're running all of DA, it's not that difficult to handle the endurance demand of toggle armors. I don't slot for end on most toggle sets anymore, just attacks. Toggles are very cheap. Click mez powers aren't exactly popular, but one click power for your protection isn't so bad. Doing that for two armor sets that provide the overwhelming majority of your survival doesn't sound appealing at all.
