  1. I think a more tank-mage appropriate combo would be Defensive/Control-melee. Think scrapper defense numbers (blaster HP cap), and slightly increased damage on the control powers (shorter durations) with 2-3 melee attacks (moderate damage at most) tossed in - no taunt. Just swapping the sentinel primary/secondary doesn't seem like it would really offer anything new to the game. I can't see them changing the defensive or offensive multipliers on the suggested AT because you're already competing with Sentinels and you can't edge out Tanks or Brutes by approaching their survival levels or taunt capabilities.
  2. Basically this. Until the development team has something they want to test run with the player base, I don't see a reason for a test server. There's no talk of I26, of new power sets, of new game mechanics. At least, not publicly facing talks. So no need for a test server at this moment for them to gather data from. As for testing out builds for your toons...
  3. I think the only people that seem to be this bent out of shape over ED are those who just can't let go of how things were before ED was implemented. And after the introduction of IOs and Incarnate content, I have to wonder if some of these people must have just quit the game after ED. As mentioned, the mistake was not having ED from the beginning. I like to compare it to Thanos' logic. By being upset about what you lost, you can't see what you gained. #thanosdidnothingwrong
  4. Wait a second! I played with Healbot 9000! And I coulda swore your Fortitude made my Ice/SS tank (SCP-2300) pretty damn tough.
  5. I think at this point, with all that was added to the game post Sunset, the most realistic we can expect to be helpful with is playing the game. Try out new sets, play old ones, and have fun with the new content. Beyond that, if we can provide balanced, empirically based reasons for making adjustments to new sets (or old) or the market, and report bugs as we find them, then we're helping to make this a stronger game. And also have patience. And the already given gratitude.
  6. Uh, yeah. Ok. So anyway, OP, hhe heal's gonna be unreliable, but it makes a great attack.
  7. Perhaps I missed it in the patch notes, but now that we earn veteran badges after level 50, does this mean they will not work as they did in live? That is, are they account wide once you earn them on one character? I'm trying to figure out if it's currently worth pursuing them (as opposed to waiting until later) or if I should turn of XP gain for more influence so I can more quickly finance my build.
  8. Might I suggest spending more time in the LFG channel? I see no lack of team requests in there.
  9. Let's keep it in the original context of what I was talking about. For a heal, the added condition makes it much less reliable. It's one thing to click on a power when you need a heal (some of which have an acc check). It's another to click on one power to a guarantee a condition is created by another power, click on that second power (and hope it makes the acc check), to then click on a third power for the heal (which you must also hope makes an acc check). By which point, a lot more time has passed. So no, by that criterion, I wouldn't say every heal in the game sucks.
  10. Yes, but one doesn't simply choose when they need the heal.
  11. Even so, you'd still be at the mercy of Fusion being up when you need to use RS. Again, it's still a great power, but one shouldn't use it as a reliable heal. Not like you would with DM's Siphon Life.
  12. I've been enjoying Rad Melee on a brute. The debuffs and the Contamination mechanic really ramp up the damage. Overall, I think the set does well for going through groups quickly thanks to Contamination, Irradiated Ground and Atom Smasher (I just haven't seen Proton Sweep really shine for me). Pair it with something like Bio Armor for the -Res aura, and you're doing a lot to bring down mobs quickly. Definitely a great set. My only complaint would be that Radiation Siphon as a heal kind of gets a set back due to how random Contamination is. If you need HP replenished, you have to hit someone who's contaminated. But when you're in the middle of a crowd, it's a bit difficult to keep track of who's been contaminated. And if it wasn't your current target, you have to stop and click on a foe who is, or hope you can tab over to them quickly enough without slowing down your work. Then of course, its still a heal that relies on hitting the target. There's a lot of prerequisites for a heal that isn't all that powerful. That said, RS still works really well for single target damage. I slotted for damage and just consider the seldom chance for healing a nice thing when it happens. Paired with Devastating Blow, it can really bring down a foe quickly.
  13. Personally, if you can manage to place yourself so that you're hitting at least 3 foes on average, then Shadow Maul is a pretty good power. It's only fault is that it requires more strategy; both in placement, and timing. If you think you'll need to heal soon, don't activate SM.
  14. I think it's less to do with learning how to tank than tankers being tanky together and having a fun time. Think of it as a coming together in brotherhood (and sisterhood... siblinghood?) and laughing as mobs futilely try to hurt us as we steam roll them in tanky toughness, while shouting out things like "bro, do you even taunt?" and crushing beer cans on our heads.
  15. If you're building a rig (or even just buying one), I think you'll be hard pressed to find one that can't run CoH. Unless maybe it doesn't have a graphics card. Anything made with in the last 4 years (in case you're aiming to be low cost) would still be miles ahead of CoH's requirements. Mine is a little over 5 years old and I'm running an i7, an nVidia 960, with 8 GB of ram and a solid state drive. CoH Looks beautiful on it.
  16. How dare you! He's barely been dead 8 years and you're already trying to go through his stuff!
  17. There is one way; 1. Download the server client. 2. Run your own server. 3. Set your xp, influence, whatever to exactly how you want. 4. Enjoy forever alone. 5. Profit!
  18. Perhaps you're new to the game, but you can sell drops you've picked up while soloing (which there should be plenty of if you've been solo) on the market. You can also take the merits you've earned from completing story arcs to purchase high value salvage or recipes that you can also sell at the market. Make a profit, turn around and by some XP bonuses. It's quite doable.
  19. You can also purchase XP boosters. I understand if you have an opinion about it, but if you're by yourself, you're solo. That's just a fact. Doesn't matter if you're playing a mission set for 2 people or 8. No one's helping you, so you're solo. It's not "pretending" you have three toons, it' just spawning that many mobs for you to defeat by yourself. You're the first person I've seen that seems to be able to play through all the arcs and not out-level them because you're XP is apparently too low. There are many here who would love to know your secret. Unless I'm not following what you wrote. Well, I get that you disagree. But the options to solve your problem are out there. If you refuse to use them, hey, you do you. But I don't think that approach will prove persuasive for what you're asking.
  20. That has been my experience playing solo at all. My Rad/Bio brute solo'd some of his 30's and now some of his 40's and gaining XP at a quick pace hasn't been an issue. What kind of character are you playing? Have you pushed difficulty settings up to increase mob counts? I can barely finish a set of radio missions on the Hero side before I'm gaining a level when I'm solo, and that was at +1/x3 in my 30s. With everything that's available for boosting XP, I don't think the game needs anymore handouts in that area.
  21. Please tell me they made fake badges for years 9–14.

    Psionic Melee

Duly noted. I think I'll test it out and see how it feels.

    Untouchable Tank

I would second Ice/DM as a great route for never getting touched. Ice Armor comes with really great defense numbers. Grab Combat Jumping and Weave from the pool powers, hit ten targets with Energy Absorption, and you're getting pretty darn close to the defense cap on Smash, Lethal, Energy and Dark Energy. That's a huge % of attacks in the game you're going to avoid. With barely much investment in IOs, you can stay at the cap all the time. The -ToHit then provides even more mitigation for those few attacks that you won't have defense for. And hey, if get in a pinch, there's always Hibernate, which makes you literally untouchable. But I would take Icicles. That's just my preference.
