  1. I've always felt that if its your team, its your rules. if you want gear checks and DPS requirements etc then so be it. I may not like it but it's not my team. The counter to a team like that is for me to make my own team. So instead of suggesting to people how to run their teams, make yours and then no one can suggest to you how to run your team as well.
  2. I didn't know this was a thing. I wouldn't do this myself but your group = your rules. If that's what they want to do, as long as it's not hurting anyone really.
  3. I haven't been able to get 4k working on my laptop - the scaling is off. I set that to 1080p. 2k on my desktop works fine. I play in fullscreen window mode.
  4. Things that annoy my MA/Inv scrapper. 1. To hit debuffs. I'm looking at you CoT with your dark things and dark auras and dark... things again. 2. Psionic things. A pain but manageable. 3. CoT caves. See #1 but also when you load the map and the orange pathway on the minimap is so small you barely see it? How far does this cave go, from RI to Toronto? Those are the big ones.
  5. Well I started playing MMOs around 1999. '97 and '98 was mostly playing Quake but my first MMO was Ultima Online in 1999. I played The Sims Online for a while. Shadowbane after that - still playing UO though. Played Star Wars Galaxies for a bit. Then 2004 hit and COH and World of Warcraft came out. I didn't touch another MMO until The Old Republic came out (I did try DCUO for like a week). SWTOR became my main MMO for about a year, but went back to WoW. CoH was closed by then. Tried Guild Wars 2 and Elder Scrolls Online but neither held my interest for too long. The weird part is in 2019 the 2 MMOs I am most interested in are the ones from 2004. :)
  6. Oh this is one of my favorite topics to talk (type) about! So I'm rather picky with the mouse I use - I have small hands and I MUST have a tiltable scroll wheel. My favorite mouse EVAR is the Logitech G9 (and later G9x), but not wanting to pay about $200 or so from someone who may have one lying around, I now use the Logitech G502. I've tried MMO mice and such but didn't like so many buttons in one area on the mouse. It's a little over your $50 mark but I do like it very much. All my buttons not Mouse4 and Mouse5 are bound to keys - including the MWHEEL tilt left and right. I combine this with holding down the shift and ALT + those buttons to get quite a bit of ability binds on my mouse (18 in total). Remembering all of this requires a little bit of a system. Travel powers are usually on mouse 4 and 5 and key modifiers. Attacks are usually the two buttons on the top plus key modifiers. Status effects (and interrupts) are usually MWHEEL left and right plus key modifiers. It may seem like a lot but I've been doing this system for so long it's habit now.
  7. No I think we're all fine. But I would like to see a character creator on Android or iOS so when we are unable to launch the game we're never too far away from creating a character! Emergencies happen yano!
  8. HI. My name is Xeres, and I too am an altaholic. Back in the day I'd try out builds up to level 10 and decided to keep them or delete. I must have leveled 20 characters to level 10 which I didn't keep. I'm doing better though. I've only done that three times so far. These days I have one level 27 character and 7 level 14 characters. I plan on keeping them all but, well, I gotta be me. Nice to meet all of you.
  9. I really don't like farming, but that's just me. If people want to farm, that's fine.
  10. While I did like the damage meter in WoW, I am not fond of the idea of implementing one in CoH. Maybe a World of Logs site I could go for but that would be about it.
  11. Well different opinions and all. I can't tell you how many teams I've been on where face planting / wiping became the norm because people grabbed aggro, got the healers aggro because the non-tank decided they can't wait for the tank to do their job before the DPS did theirs, causing the healers to gain healing aggro on said DPS and causing a team wipe / faceplant. In 2004 that novelty was new and I could deal with it. In 2019, not as much. So in that respect for me boring > faceplanting. That's really the context I was talking about.
  12. Like someone else said I'm an older vet but left the game just as IOs and sets were introduced. I looked into it briefly but not all that much. So I'm a vet, yes but probably "newer" to a lot of the things in the game than other vets.
  13. If the game is boring for you as a blaster, thank your tanks. No, it's not a bad thing at all - it's what happens when people are doing what they are supposed to in a team setting. Boring > faceplant.
  14. There is nothing more satisfying in this game then a Crane Kick to the bad person's mouth. Yeah it probably will knock back and I'm sorry Tank person but I gotta. I'll go and kill it though - don't worry.
  15. I played both quite a bit (CO and COH). Many things you say are true, OP. And for me graphics are a significant part of my enjoyment of the game these days. But CO lacked something that CoH had. I feel the villain groups in CoH are more interesting but that's not the "missing thing". Maybe it's just nostalgia but CO was good, but not as good as CoH IMO.
  16. I did. Lady Sensation had more costume options than the last time I made her (2004) but I went with the same costume for the first costume anyway. I also made a few others and I was surprised how much of their costumes I remembered.
  17. ON LIVE I HAD CAPT. CAPS LOCK. I STAYED IN CHARACTER THROUGHOUT. PEOPLE HATED TEAMING WITH ME.
  18. Well for me, I like the genre. The typical fantasy MMO is overdone. Granted the classes are similar (blaster = mage, stalker = rogue, etc) but it's the setting here that I enjoy. I want my character to be a superhero. But it's more than that. One of the most important things for me in an MMO is character progression. I get a new power and my character feels more powerful. More slots and my character's effectiveness is increased and it's noticeable (provided I can put an enhancement there). This happens through out your leveling experience. Also, another great thing about this game is the powersets play differently for the most part. Yeah some are similar but instead of defense the set affects damage resist for example. And lastly it's simple. The game isn't overly complicated in what it is and what it does and how you do it.
  19. Well like so many others, I do need to say a big thank you to all those who are making this game available. Had you told me a month ago I'd be playing CoH today I would have laughed. If only the devs can make ME feel like I did in 2004 (15 years ago) then they'd REALLY be onto something! But CoH being back is plenty. Two memories I have - one pretty vague of doing either the Positron or Citadel TF for 7 hours. Every map someone had to drop, then just before the last map 4 people dropped - had to eat dinner. Undeterred (and not wanting the previous 5.5 hours to be wasted) we got new people and finished up the TF. The other was Woodsman. I think my MA/INV scrapper was 50 and maxed out in IOs (not sets though) and tried soloing Woodsman. The AV being INV himself and resistant to smashing (which is the damage I was doing) we fought for 20 minutes straight with no winner. We couldn't do enough damage to each other before either of us could use Dull Pain again.
