  1. You and I are on the same page up to this point.
  2. It doesn't restrict supply because they were already on the market. If it's not possibly to flip them for a decent profit in a timely fashion, they won't be taken off the market by the flipper. If you're buying a recipe and crafting it to sell, that's NOT flipping. You've added value to the item, and to the market.
  3. And that's yet another reason that flipping irritates me. Inf is easy to come by without messing up the market.
  4. No, it's not bait. I'm here for a discussion and exchange of ideas. People downvoting an idea with no comment does not further the discussion, and leaves me with precisely the opinions I stated above. I have no natural filter, I've learned to have enough filter to keep from being banned. But life is too short to play word games. If you don't want to have a discussion then don't have one. Don't hide behind an emote if you have something you want to say. Edit: Buying IOs and converting them into something better is NOT flipping. You have put work into the produce to make it more valuable. This is good for the market and you've well earned the funds you're going to reap from the increased price. Flipping is buying something at a low price and immediately reselling it for a higher price. Also known as scalping and arbitrage, both of which are illegal IRL.
  5. I see a some people giving me a thumbs down for my ideas on stopping flipping. Given that they haven't replied to me I can only assume that either they lack the imagination to come up with ideas of their own, or they make their living in CoH by flipping.
  6. I'll disagree. The only KB powers I don't like are the ones that do radial or otherwise uncontrolled KB, e.g. Bonfire, Tornado, Wormhole, etc. Note that Hurricane is an exception to this. KB is a very, very powerful control. It allows you to position mobs where you want them. It just requires some forethought about where and when to use it. Given that Storm is about location, location, location, that shouldn't be an issue. For example, note that I did not include Lightning Storm in the list of radial KB powers, because it's not. You hover up 10' or so and voila, it's KD, not KB. Or place it so that it knocks the mobs into a wall.
  7. Assuming you're speaking to me, No, it really won't. Think about it. You, a flipper, buy an Enh to flip. Now you have to slot it in an alt for a time before you can sell it. How much is the market value going to change in that time, and in which direction? Meanwhile, people are still crafting and selling those IOs while you have to sit on each one you buy. And when the timer is up, how much did you originally buy it for? Assuming you know that, how much will it sell for since the market has changed? It removes the guaranteed profit from flipping and makes it much more of a gamble, leaving the market as a useful tool for the players who just want to IO their characters w/o artificial inflation. Now, am I seriously proposing this? No, it's just an example of one way to limit flipping. It would definitely have to be tested in a decent sized player environment, and a reasonable time limit set, and I don't realistically expect to see that happen.
  8. My 2nd or 3rd character, long about Issue 3 (Texas Twister, now The OriginalTexasTwister), was created as part of a KB group (Storm/Energy Def) from the Forums. Two of us (lvl 5 or 6 at the time) simultaneously Gale'd some poor Hellion off the top of a hill in the Hollows. I never did figure out where he got to, and I did go looking for him.
  9. I think ED was partially responsible for IOs, so it's all good.
  10. That's far from the only reason Emmert is despised. I'm inclined to think that City is the fantastic game that it is in spite of him rather than because of him.
  11. If you're not reselling something from the market there's no wait.
  12. I used to work in a building that I swear was designed by Paragon City architects. It used to be 3 buildings that were somehow merged into one with some additional construction. And I had to enter thru the middle building, even though I worked in one of the outer buildings. Up the stairs from the lobby to the 2nd floor. Then turn about 145 degrees left for 20 yds or so. Bear right about 25 degrees, even though the hall continued straight. Pass a large training room and break area, continue on for another 20 yds or so, then turn about 160 degrees right, go 5 yds and then 90 degrees left thru a door to another hall... I don't recall the details from there, it's been a couple of years, but the rest of the route is no less Byzantine than the first part.
  13. I hear ya. The whole 3 salvage bucket thing put a pretty big crimp in people trying to flip salvage. I'd love to see something along the lines of if you buy an IO from the market you can't resell it until you've had it slotted for 365 days. And if you buy a recipe from the market you can't resell it at all, you have to craft it to relist it.
  14. No one's referring to what you do as "ebil marketterring". It's the flippers who add NOTHING to the market and simply drive prices up for no reason that I hate.
  15. Yeah, I've rez'd myself twice that way. I primarily use HT as a stun, so it's bound to happen. The first time I was all "WTF?" then I realized what happened. The 2nd time I just laughed.
  16. Natural Remedy, that's a Plant/Emp 'troller if I've ever heard one. You should totally go for it.
  17. Without reading any of the thread... CoH is the best MMO of all time because of the flexibility and creativity you don't find in any other MMO. You're not locked into teaming at all, and when you do team you're not locked into a particular team make up. The conversation always goes like this, "What should I bring?". "Bring what you want to play, we'll make it work." Your appearance is in no way tied to your capability - you have the freedom to look how you want to look and build your character to YOUR specification. Not only do all the AT's play differently (to be honest there's only so much you can do for variety in melee ATs) but the powersets make for variations within each AT. I can sum up all of the preceding in one word - replayibility. And that is what makes CoH great.
  18. I would make it so that if you took your Origin power pool it doesn't count against your 4+1 pool limit. But I'd also make it so that you could pick the Origin travel power of your choice and have the graphics be tied to the Origin you picked. IOW If you wanted to take Mighty Leap with the Sorcery pool you could, but by default you'd get the Mystic Flight swirling runes graphical effect with it.
  19. Last time I logged on to CoT boards (admittedly several years ago) they were so toxic that I have less than zero desire to return. If that's the nature of their user community then the won't be anything at all like CoH was/is.
  20. I'd like the different servers to be different cities. So you're on the Chicago server and you get a lead that the villain you're in pursuit of has gone to New York. You transfer to the NY server (or contact the NY branch of your SG/Coalition) to get the next clue. This is playing off the "more investigative" wishes from the OP. I also like different powers that can be selected at the same tier, like Master Brawler vs Practiced Brawler. Different effects/animations/emanation points chosen as options for each power, along with the colors and brightness of effects. The reason this game is so beloved by so many is, in a word, configurability. You get to pick your appearance (and it's not tied to your powers/abilities), you're not locked into the sucktastic Trinity, so many ATs and each AT has so many powersets, etc, etc, ,etc. So many possibilities and all some people can come up with are "nipples". What's next, ball gags for a costume part?
  21. Early issues had snow on the ground and the lakes etc frozen over during winter. I miss that.
  22. I'll disagree with you. Here are 2 personal examples. 1) I do HIIT (brief but grueling workout with a trainer) twice a week. Do I enjoy it? No. Then why do I continue? Because I want the end result, obviously. 2) I ride a recumbent trike for extended distances. It makes me hot, sweaty, and generates fatigue, much like #1, only it takes a lot longer. What's my goal? I don't have one*, I ride for enjoyment. * Ok, so I do have a goal. I'm trying to work up riding a Metric Century (100 km, roughly 65 mi.) However riding so I can ride longer isn't exactly what I would consider to be an end result, like running a Dr. Q (WST) for 244 Merits. I want to ride longer because I enjoy the activity.
  23. I'm a pretty introspective person, one who tends to over analyze things a LOT. So let me just say that you're waaaay overthinking this. Are you enjoying your current activity? In other words would you like to do this activity again? If your answer is "Yes" then you're having fun.
