Got addicted to Marvel Snap, took a break from City of Heroes and for some reason got stuck on an idea of a Thermal/Beam defender that I had to make. Heat-Ray..I originally started with kind of a goofy golden age style costume (think Abestos Lady), came up with his second costume that I fell in love with, then decided to try and do costumes from different eras for the same character. picture one is 90s, with the unneccessary straps and pouches everywhere, picture two, golden age style, picture 3 modern day armor, and 4 classic/80s look.

Been waiting for Illusion Doms and originally planned on making a spooky themed Illusion/Energy but with the Halloween event going on all month I went in the opposite direction. This character had some of the biggest costume/theme changes that I've had for a character and actually stuck with. Started out as Spectrum-Man with a Dr. Light style black and white costume before being renamed to the Prismatic Man and kind of running wild with the colors for his costumes.

Focused Feedback: Force Fields Revamp
MagicalAct replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I actually hope not. I dusted off an old FF/Elec that I had stalled out with in the 40s. Decided to play him to have some fun with Force Fields before the set gets mangled to something I don't recognize. Had an amazing time pinning mobs to the door Trick or treating, keeping the mobs off the team while we did banners and enjoyed soloing even. Going to miss Force bubble a lot. -
Focused Feedback: Force Fields Revamp
MagicalAct replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I'm sorry but I'm not a fan of these changes at all. I understand people saying that dispersion field is the iconic power of the set, but maneuvering mobs is a hallmark of the set and people using force bubble well is what got me into the set in the first place, after never being interested in it on live. I was excited to see Force Field get some love but after playing with it on beta I'm not playing the set again if it releases with these changes. I almost never took force bolt, so those changes don't bother me as much. I appreciate adding -res to try and give it something. Repulsion Field: Terrible power, radius is too small, knockback is unpredictable. I like the end drain removal but will gladly take it back to have this power reverted to it's previous form. I don't do the high end content that these changes may be for, but it was perfectly serviceable on live. You could pin bosses against walls, stand next to your blaster to protect them, or slot KB/KD and stand in the mobs if your build could handle it. Force Bubble/Dampening Bubble: Hate this change the most. Force Bubble isn't just a troll power, if done correctly it's one of the best mob placement tools in the game. You can trap entire mobs in the corner, move mobs into each other and a bunch of other things. Making it a weird Faraday Cage, doesn't even make it feel like Force Field to me anymore playstyle wise. -
It's been a while since I uploaded any pics of any new toons. I took a break for a bit and since coming back I feel like I've made some of my favorite characters/costumes so far. In order we have Manta-Man, a Marine biologist turned hero who uses a hydro-electric suit to bolster his meager power, the ability to continuously exude water from his body. Elec/Water defender Coyote Knight, a Native-American hero chosen by Coyote to be his champion for the people using Coyote's mystic bow and quiver of tricks as a TA/A defender. Gallowmyr, a forgotten knight of the round table placed in a long slumber, reawakened to continue his battle with a warlock. Baneslayer, a DP/Ninja blaster. A member of the Midnight Club, Baneslayer has no magic powers but comes from a long line of monster hunters who use magical weapons such as silver bullets, holy water anointed revolvers, and Excalibur itself to keep evil magics away. Finally, Bat by Night, a biologist bitten by a Crey serum injected bat. The screenshot doesn't do him justice. As a Symphony/Savage dominator, when in motion he looks amazing. His symphony powers are a faint blue meant to represent a mesmerizing sonic/sonar screech. Inspired by Morbius memes, and my love of the schlocky Werewolf by Night comics from the 70s. He was a random idea that took off.

Thank you so much for the Ice control buffs and all the sonic changes. I love those sets even though they're usually the redheaded step children of the game. Thank you guys for all the hard work you've done. -
Ice is just as bad for that and yet we still have it for doms.

What's missing in the character creator?
MagicalAct replied to Jack Power's topic in General Discussion
Turbans, Hoodies, Feathered/Winged arms I.E. Falcon's original costume, animal pelts, "Tech cannon" style pieces. I wanted to make a sonic/sonic blaster that had sound cannons all over his shoulders and two on his wrists but the only thing close was the cyborg shoulder cables. -
Thank you so much. Adam is basically an android created in the 50s to help fight the rise of super villains. A.D.A.M. is Android Designed to Assist Mankind. No power source seems to be strong enough to sustain it though so Adam is just kind of buried in a bunker and forgotten. His original creator finds out his son had died while secretly being a super hero. Distraught he steals a strange gem Portal Corps found in another dimension and slaps it into Adam. The old scientist has a heart attack while Adam comes alive and gives him his only mission to protect mankind.

Thank you for the extremely kind words. I know what you mean, when I first turned the shader on a lot of my old costumes just looked flat and ugly. Took a while to find things that popped with the shader.

Bad Build Decisions You're Willing to Admit To
MagicalAct replied to oedipus_tex's topic in General Discussion
I don't take Frostbite on Ice Doms. I feel like enemies running from Arctic Air continually is more mitigation then arctic and holding them in place. Ice controllers, I'll take it for setting up containment solo. -

Focused Feedback: Electrical Blast Revamp
MagicalAct replied to Player-1's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Finally got to do some testing with my Poison/Elec/Mu. Elec blast feels so much better now. It's still not going to out dps fire front end wise, but shock and the chain effect make a huge difference, not to mention the sped up animation times. Elec blast has also had some interesting proc options to give it some more utility. I can see Elec blast finally becoming one of the best blast sets when the changes go live. -

Thank you so much for the Electrical blast changes, that's awesome. My main on homecoming is a poison/elec defender that I love despite elec blast's short comings, which there are many at the moment. Looking forward to the new voltaic sentinel, the shocked mechanic, and the tesla jumping. -
So I've been lurking on the forums ever since coming back to homecoming, not really posting, but you guys inspired me to try and make a blue side thugs MM. Samaritan V is half-suicide squad inspired, half Citizen V, taking incognito criminals and making them look like he's rallying people around him to fight the good fight for Paragon. He does use bubbles to somewhat improve their chance of surviving? Or at least his.
