  1. Why, though? You can turn on double XP, go to Pocket D and get powerlevelled to 20 in an AE farm in about 10 minutes. Of if this seems distasteful, do repeatable missions from the Clockwork or Resistance radio for 20 levels. It should only take a few of hours.
  2. Undead Labs (makers of State of Decay and State of Decay 2) have a kind of wish list where people post suggestions and other people can vote on them. The suggestions that bubble to the top quickest get looked at first, and sometimes get implemented into the game. Maybe something similar could be imported into these forums, to make the selection process more natural and dynamic.
  3. I might have to add some rule about what happens in case of a lack of entries. But people have a couple of weeks left.
  4. I'm guessing Pocket D is a special case since it's more of a hub than PDP was (since it caters to all alignments/sides). PPD can only be reached by heroes and rogues. I would have liked seeing the SBB starting from a cinema. From what I recall it's started from the LFG queue? Hm... could the PDP actually have a hero-only function that makes it useful beyond a limited rp location? Maybe it could have 'informants' who give out tip missions for people who don't have access to a SG computer. A similar type of informants could be placed in the Monkey Fight Clubs red-side.
  5. Why would you want to hide such a thing in the PDP? It doesn't make sense thematically (since it's a dance club), and I would imagine that we'd want these kiosks or whatever it might be to be highly visible out in the world. If we want to imply that these stories are merely entertainment and not "real", why not put the cinemas in the city to good use, and let us access such stories from them, or from a contact or ticket booth near them?
  6. Just another example of a Kheldian's greatest enemy being their own powers.
  7. This is the best explanation I've heard so far, I wish it was official and that they were removed from the TUNNEL system so you had to actually go to ouroboros and time-travel to get there.
  8. What we really need is a tag for story arcs. You can't exclude a tag from your searches, and the creators of old, abandoned farms aren't likely to tag their ruins, if they even still play the game. So if we want people to be able to find story arcs, it will be up to active story authors to tag their work with a new Story tag, leaving everything else untagged. I don't know of any farms that aren't clearly marked as such in the description, so whether a tag would help is doubtful.
  9. Thanks, that's exactly what I needed! I wonder why I never got this to work... I think I must have tried all kinds of other variants but never stumbled upon this.
  10. Hello, everyone. The Cimerora story competition is over, and I'm still sitting on a pile of influence burning holes in my pockets. Time for another story contest, sponsored by me! This time, the theme is "Rebirth". The rules, as they are, follow below: The competition ends on midnight on October 31. Your arc, whether it's new or already exists, must be published before the cut-off date. The theme for the arc is REBIRTH. You may interpret this however you like. Post information about your arc in this thread, the most important of which being the Arc ID. I am the sole judge and will decide the winner and any runner ups entirely based on my own tastes. If you want to know what I like, I have created several arcs in the AE which I feel are excellent examples of good AE writing, some of which I have listed in my signature below. If you don't want to do your homework and play my stories, I'll summarize: I like content that fits in the game world, is canon-related and takes the world of CoH as seriously as the game itself does. That said, I can certainly appreciate humor, within those boundaries. I will play the entries as they come in, so if you change anything before the cut-off date, let me know so I can re-play the arc. I will probably re-play them all after October 31 anyway, but please make sure I don't miss anything important. First place wins 500 million influence. Second and third place wins 100 million influence each. So, to recap: Write a story arc in the AE on the theme REBIRTH. Post the Arc ID in this thread, along with any other relevant information. One winner gets 500 million influence. Two runner-ups get 100 million influence each. You have until midnight, October 31. Good luck!
  11. I played these today. Arc 1. I have no real comments except that you should try to make the level range consistent. If this means that you have to make a few custom mobs (like Atta), or make the whole arc lower level, I think it would gain from it. However, after playing arc 2, I think your story could gain from showing off 'upgraded' and higher level Skulls and Trolls, as a new and more potent threat to Paragon City. So I would try to bring the arc up to whatever level seems reasonable. With the events going on in arc 2 I feel like this could be up there with Dark Astoria, and I would even suggest that you might tie your story in with those events. Arc 2. The first mission has us saving six different hostages, which are all named in the navbar. I would suggest using the navbar text so it says "X hostages left to save" or similar, and hides their names. If you make the text in the singular and plural text boxes identical, all of them will be displayed as the same objective in the navbar. Another thing I noticed is that there are too many people called Emily in these stories. There's Emily Dallas, then Emily Edwards, and for a while I thought they might be the same person, but then Emily Edwards seemed to change name to Madison? I'm not sure what is going on there, or if I misunderstood something. Now for the one that impressed me the most. In the hospital you have victims scattered all over the floors. I really, really wish to know what you are doing to make this happen without them standing up when you get too close. I haven't figured out what kind of objective to use for this purpose so if you could explain how you pulled that off, I'd be terribly happy. The story makes a lot of sense and would work well for an introduction to Incarnate-level Skulls messing around in Dark Astoria or elsewhere. I liked it. For your first published arcs, these are great. My only real complaint, and it's a minor one, is the level range discrepancies. Oh there was an empty clue in one of the missions of arc 2, it just said "Betrayal" as a title, and had no text.
  12. Yes, he followed me. If you want him to stay put, I think you could make him an allied boss instead of an ally. Or maybe a hostage, who will then run away when you get close to him, and hopefully leave the map before you find the other one.
  13. Do you want Speed to be the pool for Speedsters, or do you want it to be any of the pools that lets you slot Luck of the Gamblers? Since Flurry is so lackluster it would have to be a good bonus if you're going to spend time using it.
  14. Flurry should be a cone, but also have a good chance to give +Recharge so you can spam it to get your good powers up faster, as an alternative to Hasten.
  15. Mission 2: This is weird. There are two Vinces. I think I know what you were trying to do, but the first one didn't run away when I found him. Might be a bug, might be a setting.
  16. Every day is Colemas, citizen. Mother loves you.
  17. Short answer: yes. Long answer: Council/5th Column robots have artificial intelligence and are capable of independent thought. There's a whole arc of a robot uprising in their ranks, where they try to break free and form their own group. Sky Raider jumpbots have the tactical knowledge of fallen Sky Raider officers stored in their memory cores. This last part might just be me remembering some ancient head-canon though, since I can no longer find out where this information came from by checking the wiki.
  18. Commenting on 4.3 Gods in the Planes First mission send-off has a broken <br>-tag, right after "TUNNEL". A little confusion in the first mission when a random Spirit got attached to me after I found the main objective, and the target for the escort changed. But I sorted it out. Considering that Marchand seems to be mostly conveying information from Nadia I wonder why our contact isn't Nadia directly, but that's just a minor questionmark. Getting used to the spirit guides in mission 2, they can be helpful to find the things I need to click... clever trick I might have to steal! 😛 Tormented Souls (helpers?) in Hell have the default description that says they are floating in the streets of Paragon City and are angry with us. In various clues in mission 4, you pluralize "shaman" as "shamen" - it's actually "shamans". I've made this mistake myself, too many times. Nadia's email (clue) is written as if she's writing with an accent? I doubt she would spell "of" as "o'" or "old" as "ol'" - but maybe that's just me. Mu'Drakhan says "with the The Stray as my right hand" in the fight, there's one 'the' too many. This felt like a suitably epic conclusion to the magical arc, and even if I'm not sure about your interpretation of the canon deities and spirits and their relationship, canon itself is so muddled that any interpretation is almost equally valid. Also, just because the Mu wrote something in their magical tomes it doesn't make it true.
  19. It's more like an extended and interactive cut scene than a mission.
  20. The AE doesn't provide any rewards besides xp, influence, regular salvage drops, recipe drops, incarnate shards and threads. No merits, no incarnate salvage. Apparently no day job rewards either, as you have discovered - this was new to me. Maybe if we're nice we can convince the devs to add merit rewards or something to Dev's Choice arcs, but that would require some programming labor, I'm sure.
  21. Stumbling on the finish line, half a step behind Darmian, comes my entry: The Last Crystal Out Of Cimerora Arc Id 43014 Marcus Valerius has disappeared just as he was about to board the ship that would take him to the end of the world, carrying the idol of Mot. Sybil Bramlett is contacting you across the eons to plead for help from an increasingly uncertain future. [SFMA] Levels 50-54.
  22. Sadly there is no tag to mark a story as a story or a farm as a farm. Several suggestions have been made to introduce such a tag, or a way to separate them somehow. Many authors will "tag" their stories by adding abbrevations like SFMA (Story Focused Mission Architect) to the descriptions of their stories, but not all know about this old tradition, or care to follow it. There are still enough of us who do, so that if you enter SFMA in the search field you will find a whole lot of stories.
  23. I don't know how you set up your ally group, if they are custom made or a standard group - I can't remember - but if they are custom made you should be able to open them up in the critter editor and add a bio on the last page in the editor, where you write their name. Look under "My creations" and "My enemies" I think it's called, and you can edit every custom mob you've created. Afterwards you might want to edit your story and republish to make sure that it is updated with the changes you made. If I'm mistaken about any of this I'm sure someone will show up and correct me.
  24. While you've probably seen this already, all the arcs in the topic below are chosen by players so that is in a way a topic used to compile interesting story arcs. There are several other topics with lists of arcs, I know @Darmian has one specifically for arcs about Praetoria, for example. I'll let him chime in himself.
  25. lol there's nothing to do at level 50, playing low level task forces at level 50 is the worst - you play them at the correct level range so you don't "waste" any powers. All that's left to do at 50 is a few high level TFs, Dark Astoria, the RWZ, and some raids and trials. THAT is the boring content I've played ten thousand times.
