  1. "Fun factor." Ugh . . . there's a can of worms I don't have the time to unpack right now . . . Suffice it to say: Fun is subjective. Having the visual and mechanical themes being cohesive in a single Set is fun for some people. More on this after I get home from work, if I'm not completely drained of energy.
  2. @SwitchFade https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/18436-weekly-discussion-48-dark-armor/?tab=comments#comment-205131 https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/18436-weekly-discussion-48-dark-armor/?tab=comments#comment-205410 (re: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/18436-weekly-discussion-48-dark-armor/?tab=comments#comment-205315 ) https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/18436-weekly-discussion-48-dark-armor/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-205528 https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/18436-weekly-discussion-48-dark-armor/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-205724 I am very much for accessibility and enjoyment for players who do not want to obsess over optimization. Specifically in this discussion: I am for some kind of adjustment to Dark Armour to either improve the Set's usefulness, or to reduce the impact it has on Endurance. @Galaxy Brain The colour of a Power is -not- the entirety of what defines a theme in a Set. @Cutter said it back near the start of this; the description for Dark Armour does not match the actual game mechanics of the Set. Rather than change the Description, I think it would be nice to lean in to the express theme of the Set and make it really stand out. But, as low hanging fruit, the Endurance Costs to such a Toggle-heavy Set would be a great band aid if more serious surgery isn't presently feasible.
  3. Theme, 100%. Same reason to pick -any- Power Set. I just can't wrap my head around people who only play with the leading performance flavours of the month. And to nip it in the bud: Why does it matter how Dark Armour performs if you're just playing for theme? For me? Doesn't matter so much, but there's something to be said about a Set which is so difficult and punishing that it ends up becoming the number-one voted Set for a deep look by the community. Dark Armour doesn't -need- to be great. Dark Armour just has to be good enough that people who -want- to play it for theme don't feel an overwhelming sense of dread for having to slog through its overwhelming downsides.

  5. 24601; I generally like what you have to say on a lot of topics. But games aren't films. There are definitely valuable lessons to be learnt, but games are their own medium with their own audiances with their own motivations for wanting to engage with the medium. Please. Don't use screenwriting lessons as the be-all-end-all for roleplaying game writing. They are VERY different beasts.
  6. "It's not life; it's a game." I like that. Well put.
  7. At the very least, going forward, I would like to encourage the Devs to ensure all mission and story arc content is NOT level gated. Or at the very least, has no Maximum Level. Yes, that would mean either adjusting some Enemy Factions to include high level versions, or to compose Arcs which specifically use Enemy Factions which scale all the way up normally (Circle of Thorns, Council/Column, Arachnos, Longbow, et cetera). More accessibility is only ever a good thing. Period.
  8. Guessing based on past posting history? "Game's too easy already."

  10. She's a maniac! A MANIAC! . . . @Dacy, I mean. I mean . . . just LOOK at this thing!
  11. I live in an apartment building. One of the lights in a hallway is flickering, and there are no windows in the halls. It gave me an idea. An Escape Room which is just one long hallway, with doors on either side which lead to the puzzles in little closet-sized spaces. Instead of a traditional timer, your time remaining in the room is measured by the lights in the hallway turning out! Every X minutes, one of the lights starts to flicker, until it goes out a minute later. This would be in the order of the light above the door you entered from, and the final light would be over the (presumed) exit at the opposite end of the hall. Give a nice horror element to the room and a sense of impending doom! And then, as the final puzzle, the door at the lit end of the hallway has a message which basically says "Ha ha! The true exit is back at the dark end of the hallway." As for why I posted this in this board; that's because this is the Geek Culture board (despite the naming error, tsk tsk), and what are Escape Rooms if not geeky?
  12. I very much doubt that the majority of City players would reject an animated movie automatically under the presumption that it's "for kids," frankly. I think an animated City movie is exactly on brand for the kinds of people who play this game.
  13. Yeah, I hear you! I habitually have to copy my messages back and forth to Notepad to strip out the invisible code that's polluting my text. It's a pain, for sure.
  14. *gets a shiver* Oo! Someone just mentioned Weaver-1, did they? ... Yup. There it is. @Aberrant . . . yes. Yes. Yes, so many times. So many times, yes. There are so many ways to make Recluse a meaningful threat and an impactful character. Your points and your ideas are very much on the nose. Well said.
  15. I mean, I get accused plenty of not "playing the game" for a variety of reasons. My distaste for the market. My lack of level 50s. My severe aversion to anyone calling this a "comic book game" as a means to justify really shitty content or flawed game mechanics. But I know I would sure as salty savagery host servers to keep this game going if only I could afford them.
  16. I'd be happy to see this changed, if only to give the world a little more appreciable verisimilitude.
  17. I'd gladly split all my Mastermind's Set Bonuses between my Henchpets in the same ratio as Damage Shares from Bodyguard. Except Recharge. Because Recharge doesn't help them anyway.
  18. I have a theory on that, Kelvin. . . . . . . What? OH! "Share it?" uh, sorry. I already did. In an encrypted post. In another thread. From a different account.* Can't be too careful. -They- might be watching . . . . . . What? "They?" No! Not the Devs. I don't mind if the Devs know. "They" refers to . . . *glances back and forth* . . . -Them-! *very slow, deliberate, and ostentatious wink* Edit: *Crap. It -wasn't- on another account. It was this one! I've doomed us all!
  19. If I may; it sounds like Honey is operating on a couple of assumptions. 1: That GMs have any say in the Development of the game beyond what any other player does, conflating GMs with members of the Homecoming Team's Developers. 2: That because the GMs which Honey has seen don't appear to be joining teams and playing the game like normal players, that they don't play at all. 3: That these GMs who "don't play" can't possibly know enough about the game to render their opinions on Development valid. 4: That the Weekly Discussion Thread is somehow a call from the GMs to have the players fix the game for them. That's at least my reading on the situation.
  20. If not Recluse, then SOMEONE needs to have that Power . . .
  21. Fair points. I know that I am always in favour of more customization options and optional customization. Power to the Player! Viva la recolouring!
  22. There needs to be a "Ha Ha" Reaction with a big sweat drop on the brow . . .
  23. Or, hell . . . less about buffing Endurance or Recovery directly, and maybe if something could grant Endurance Discount. So the more enemies you have around you, the less Endurance all your Powers cost.
  24. What? Me? Nooooo. Psshaw. That's - . . . That's crazy talk! . . . . . *make a break for the exit* (For the record, I am not a GM or a member of the Homecoming Staff, and do not mean to impersonate any of them. Just being silly, for a laugh.)
  25. There was mention of a Dev looking at rewriting the whole costume editor to include more colour palette options . . . but that may have been scrapped. It would represent a SERIOUS investment in development for something which might not even work.
