  1. I have soloed alts to high 40s on all three sides, and to 50 on Blue. Teaming is absolutely not required, and (other than maxed-out speed teaming) I'm not sure it's all that much faster in leveling to 50 than soloing with a reasonably tough alt. Again, and not directed to/at anyone poster here... if you find missions so boring you have to blaze through them at maximum speed, why are you playing CoX at all? It's not like it pays or means a good godd*m to anyone, even most other games. Play because you enjoy it... or don't. *shrug*.
  2. Okay. Well, gaming like it's a piecework job to do as rapidly as possible is one approach. IMVHO, though, it renders the point of playing a game moot, like eating Thanksgiving dinner in four minutes flat, or speed-dating Taylor Swift. In years of discussion, most of it quite amicable, the value of this kind of play has eluded me. But yeah, fine, different strokes.
  3. There is more than one technique to keep toggles up permanently. Simple rolling binds on the forward movement key will handle most; about the only time I leave any toggle or duration power off that string is when they are not perma duration and I want to be able to reserve them for (heavy) combat, or if they're real End hogs and I want to control when they're hogging.
  4. Has she visited the vitreous forts of Scotland? I'd start with the big glass panels and build four walls, then (for modesty's sake) have an internal bedroom/dressing room with a zigzag entrance.
  5. Well, it depends on what you see as the reason for teaming, If it's to get into missions way above your solo level, then play solo but with the team available to save your butt, you're absolutely right. If teaming means you work together in a sensible fashion, using each alt and power set to best use, without calling down a whole room full of foes on an unsuspecting 'herd,' and actually playing as a team... well, no, you're the kind of player who probably gets frequently kicked. And the first response on your post confirms a few things I've inferred about that participant...
  6. While I agree in general with Crysis (play your own way), I think a lot of players would avoid a lot of hassles, learn essentials and have just as much fun if all the alternate paths were barred until they get at least one alt to, say, 40. Players on their third or fourth end-game alt who still don't know the basics are... a drag on everyone around them.
  7. For some reason, I visualize Zippy wandering around a surrealistic landscape like the Shadow Shard, yelling "Cotton Headed Ninnymuggins!" I need to call Griffy... But yes, it's going to be a 'school's out for summer' period for a while. I mind myself to be polite to the newcomers.
  8. Heh. I can't recall more than a few discussions I've participated in that were deleted, but I've just had two in an hour. Can't argue the action, just amusing that I seem to be in Whac-a-Mole land today. I'll be nice, promise. 🙂
  9. Take my thumbs-up as standing for about 100 such responses. I have never understood the max-speed-powerlevel gamer mindset, especially in this game. Even a player with the least tolerance for boredom can take ten full runs at it, 1-50, with different alts and builds and choices of contacts and missions and methods. Even after that, there's elbow room to do it your own rotten way... including just being a street thug and leveling through nothing more than beating up corner mobs. Frankly, I ran three alts to 50 last summer (first ones on HC) and my regular partner finds 50-plus and endgame content boring. We end up dropping to 20-30 lowbies and have fun finding new missions and content we missed before... or just street sweeping and making the punks bounce. I'm not even sure CoX is 'about the journey' as it's about... enjoying any alternate life you care to roll up. But it's definitely not about being the baddest cape on the map or "winning." I've always been in favor of a a power-gamer, insta-50 server to compartmentalize that crowd. But nobody listen to Zathras, no.
  10. Hmm. One of my favorite quotes from Carnivale is, "I dunno, Samson. I've never heard an honest man use the word 'legit.'" 🙂 But yeah... legit at le-last!
  11. Excelsior!
  12. Maybe I'll remember the right time for that one. *headsmack*
  13. Everyone who's in... hold up a sign! (?) (At AH plaza, I mean.)
  14. I have only alts on Excelsior, so... that would be my vote. I get the argument for one of the quieter shards, but that would seem to mean that fewer interested folks would have alts, much less high level ones, on those... and unless we're going to switch 'toons, only Rogues and Vigs will be able to follow the tour everywhere. Folks might want to visit Null beforehand. Not sure how this will be coordinated unless everyone is in the same SG or we create a channel.
  15. Sneaking out of the Tiki Lounge. Lots to see out there but flight recommended. (Or group TP.)
  16. I can understand this spammer attempt to manipulate markets in games where there's a cash economy. But eleventy-billion in Inf, or 250,000 enhancements, won't buy you a cup of coffee and doesn't really enhance a player position in the game. It just seems like malice for its own sake, or dumbassery by players who score themselves by how many billion Inf their alts have.
  17. That's my one objection besides it not being terribly potent. It has a tendency to run ahead and aggro a mob or two you're not ready for, and it's not controllable like most pets. Almost every session in which I decide to use it, I will pause to rest or recon or something, and Lil Blue Cloud shoots its mouth off and I'm hip-deep in trouble.
  18. Wasn't there a song about that? "Keeper of the Sack" (vroom vroom)
  19. It's the price we pay for choices long ago. Email was new and wonderful and un-regulated and free and pure liberty for all, so we failed to organized and regulate it. Now it needs massive monitoring and filtering just to remain almost-usable. Which is more or less the history of every online technology, and why I flinch when this week's tech bros brag about how free and open their system is.
  20. That sounds vaguely like a slap at players, here. 😄
  21. Pretty sure my blaster has it as a location point. I bind it to something like an Alt-doubleclick and it's a breeze. Still... meh, though.
  22. Well, he would have to be from Colorado. (Hadda say it, Let's Not Go There Though.)
  23. My lifetime #2 alt is an Electric/Electric blaster. I've gone back and forth with Voltaic Sentinel, taking it only when there's no good alternative (while leveling) and keeping it only when maxed out and I have a free slot. It's... meh. Never found it very useful. It also can run ahead and draw aggro before you're ready, always a bad thing for solo squishies. I'd recommend as above: take it if it's the best option at whatever level, spec it out when you have other AoE powers, put it back only if you don't have any better power for that slot later. But I wouldn't waste slots on it, not past two or three.
  24. You'd prefer it to be live and pulsing? I'm just a bit 'smacked that all the folks arguing about necrographica are overlooking that it's a rando spam poster, as necro resurrections often are.
