  1. It's not, and it's one of the reasons I champion forums over all the flash-bang-pretty-fisher-price 'communication' formats. I'm on any number of forums where useful interaction might be separated by months or years, and if the participants are careful to answer "in full" it becomes a useful reference element. But all too often, belated necro posts are inappropriate, clueless, lost, or — as in this case — simply spam.
  2. Secret World, which I always struggled with. A case of using much the same ingredients as CoX, but didn't... quite... jell. And my only other real love in the tooniverse... Borderlands. My punk kid and former CoX teammate is always throwing new games at me, but I've always been a "one game until it doesn't run any more" type, and I game more for relaxation than for 'adventure,' so I still swing back and forth between Paragon City and Pandora. Note to the wise: It is a bad, bad thing to carry one game's mindset into the other. 😛
  3. Well, the Tiki Bar lost its atmosphere because of that crack in the map that lets you get outside and run around on the Rikti ships. 😄
  4. That jibes with the general feature of unsynchronized elements, such as the junk grav trollers throw. The details seem to be locally generated by each client. I'd guess size and shape vary as well. (Did they finally sync the grav junk a few issues ago? Seems I heard something about that.) Fortunately, it's not the wrapping but what's inside OMFG PURPLE SNOWMEN GAAAAAA!!!!! that counts.
  5. /bind ADD "target_custom_next base Myst" Get way up high, turn slowly, keep whacking the keypad + key. It targets objects with the name "Mysterious Gift" at far beyond alt vision range. Hit your go-to button, especially if you're a flyer. Oh, look, it's for YOU! (I find the Add button convenient; if you want to mouse-turn and whack at the same time... wait, that's not quite what I mean and leave Swan alone, you perv... if you want to turn-and-search, the tilde key (~) might be a better choice. /bind ~ "target_custom_next base Myst" (Caveat: I haven't logged in yet this year; I seem to recall the object name changing from time to time. Adjust those four or five string letters appropriately.) Confirmed. Unfortunately, the /interact command ("click on what's in front of me") doesn't work with presents.
  6. Presents are absolutely everywhere, and the magic targeting bind can find them at 1000 yards. Why would you use a map?
  7. So... you live in the present?
  8. I usually spend that hour tweaking an alt's UI.
  9. See Harry Harrison's "I Always Do What Teddy Says." Largely forgotten sf short from when HH wrote literate, thought-provoking stuff (such as "The Streets of Ashkelon") and not reams of bad comic-book drafts.
  10. Hey, Squishee... I hear ya on all of that. Welcome back.
  11. Well... it's your breath. 😄 Shoot, I thought this was going to be a good PUG story. I really really miss great PUGs as a sort of usual thing.
  12. I know that I carried a bitter little pill around with me during the dark years... "They took my world away from me." Not something I wore on a t-shirt or thought about a lot, but it sure wandered by during a few 3 am sessions. I am pretty sure not having to carry that little ache helps, somehow. And as others have noted, knowing that there's a community this good out there, amid all the ones that make you want to jump off a cliff... yeah, that helps, too.
  13. Many cars had seatbelts, as standard or (as you go earlier) optional equipment, long before 1968. Most sports cars and the like had them, whether as real or show-off racing gear, back into the 1940s. The idea of having, and using, seatbelts didn't just appear out of nowhere with the Nixon presidency. And as noted, it would have been just about the time and zeitgeist for Bats to lecture about it.
  14. There's a bind-based macro loader on my site, see sig.
  15. Nah, Dark Dirk. Dark Dirk Steele. Or something like that. It's a Mystery.
  16. If, as a wise man said, luck is a matter of careful preparation, then there is no greater anti-luck than Chernobyl. Wholly avoidable disaster brought on by ignorance and lack of preparation...
  17. I've always found it funny that 'excelsior' means both high praise, and the shredded wood stuff that used to be used for packing.
  18. Answers so far have overlooked two points: It don't cost nothin'. (And it doesn't even need next week's hardware to play.) Bases now cost nothing, so the ultra-mega-Barbie's-war-council base of your dreams is a matter of clicking enough times.
  19. My primary reason for building any female alts, most of which fly. If I have to stare at spandex buns...
  20. My kids (b. 2000) were regular players on Live, and we often teamed 2-up or 3-up. My now-ex, almost a complete non-gamer, also played regularly. One kid still dabbles. Other has moved on, a consequence of the class load at a Tech university. The ex refuses to admit she ever played. 🙂
  21. I have yet to build a no-travel-powers alt (but then, I don't have alt-itis!), but yeah... with various collateral powers and a little shopping at P2W, formal travel powers are optional. Especially if you team a lot.
  22. Welcome home. 🙂
  23. No, no, that's "Willllll.... burrrrrr."
  24. Well, to be complete, you should roll up a Warshade with the name RAM Truck Logo. Or Chrome Uterus, which would be the same thing.
  25. First, macros and keybinds are about 99% identical and use the same command strings to accomplish their function. About the only significant difference is that binds allow a few subtleties, such as activating one string on press and another on release. I think too many players become macro-centric and try to use click-buttons for commands that need to be activated quickly and frequently, but there's a place for both. You will find pretty much everything you're looking for, from the very basics and theory to finished bind/macros, in the Guide linked in my sig.
