Just one more suggestion among many for the character screens, which as Greycat notes, could really use a total overhaul. I'd suggest that the master solution is to add an info panel on the right that includes all the details that have been asked for (Inf, partial level status, veteran levels, all that) and is built with hooks to add any reasonable number of additional items. I'd put the generality of this request pretty high on any QoL improvement list. The current character screens don't reflect some ten years or more of game development.

Oh, okay. I just couldn't connect that to SGs. Isn't the SG identifier, and or the SG rank, enough for this? Not to mention SG mode costume changes?
-
I don't quite follow any of this. What "title"?
-
An addition to the Quickchat pop menus, maybe? Or just a popmenu anyone can DL and install? I guess both of those would need slash commands added.

1) I'm not talking about chat, although I realize that's the OP's point. Farm requests are as valid as any other LFG post. No argument. But 2) I'll stand by my comments that the power-gamer subset doesn't exactly stay in its corner... in chat, in forums, in Help or in any other way. I've had to close General or Help to blank out endless, name-calling battles over how you can't possibly-possibly play this build, or this powerset, or without 2B in IO sets, and you're just a gahdam moron to even try. The whole streak of players that see nothing but fully-buffed 50+ end-game point are, not to put too fine a point on it, often obnoxious and clueless as to boundaries. It's not us feeble, flapping, fool-around players who have the problem; we tend to stay in our corner. And 3) I disagree with your entire point that this is somehow on the players, as an unorganized mob, to deal with. One faction shouldn't be polluting the game for another, and if giving them their own sandbox to crap in and slug it out, IO set by IO set, is the solution, so be it. Don't excuse them or make it individual players' problems.

Well, that or or very early 20th. 😄 As far as chat goes, I really don't care. I find Help useful, keep General up just for amusement and nerf all the others, so the "fifty players whining for a farm mission" bit doesn't bother me. It's more the overall community, in that the power players have a tendency to make their opinions rather loudly known when, say, someone asks about slotting a "gimp build." I don't see many casual/fun/flexible players loudly arguing about the exact IO sets you must have to be one of the anointed... but Statesman help the guy with a wussy fun build who ignores a powermax player's "suggestions." So. I don't see giving them their own kingdom to rule and advise each other at that level to be a bad thing... not for the rest of us, anyway. But maybe being The Boss of Youse goes with the max-IO-set mentality? 🙂

Not really. There are some slash commands you could bind, but they're clumsy at best. /email_delete message_number (All you have to do is know the message number!) /email_headers (Got me!) /email_send (Need three or four parameters for this one) /email_send_attachment (Need six parameters for this one, including precise element names) Not... real useful. Some use a canned version of the last to send attachments and Inf to others. Of the auxiliary game functions, nothing needs more attention — IMVHO — than the overall text/chat/email system. It was crude at launch and hasn't gotten better with age.

Absolutely true, but there are definitely several different communities of player and giving each its own corner of the room, without necessarily isolating or "banning" them, would reduce a lot of pointless friction. A comfortable side lounge for the entire power-build/power-level/farm/end-game contingent would be... welcome in many ways. By both sides.

New Powersets? Sentinels revamped yet?
Shenanigunner replied to FullEclipse's topic in General Discussion
No! It can't be! Not the Clown melee set! At last! 🤭 -
Well now, who is that charming... uh... who are you again?
Shenanigunner replied to Aeroprism's topic in General Discussion
+1. Ya wanna play the four builds that have maximum numbers? Go right ahead. But, y'know, shaddap about the rest of us who play builds that are novel, or interesting, or fit a theme or just amuse us. Maybe some of us want to do tai chi on Muscle Beach. -
To be fair ("to beee faaaaahhhrrrrr"): it's a balancing act to put multiple subjects in one topic. Six posts for six similar items might be a little fragmented, but there are too many threads with three or four suggestions that either turn into a useless tangle or simply ignore some of the points.

Shenanigunner replied to Aeroprism's topic in General Discussion
Probably. I am amused that so many folks have reacted to my post. Here's an example: I had some piece of household gear that required a fussy and poorly documented process to set up and configure, but only once, or whenever it was re-installed or something. So I asked at some point, got no good answers because no one else understood the damn thing either. So being what I am, I worked it all out, wrote up the steps, and posted it in the answer stream. At least twice that I recall, I had to reconfigure the thing (cannot remember what it was - maybe a fancy-dancy ceiling fan controller?), did a search, and came up with this GREAT post on exactly how to do it... oh. right... And these days, when I do searches on my two or three areas of specialty, what comes up is mostly my own websites and research postings. That, I at least expect. (And, oddity on oddity, that was my 707th post. A number of high significance even if I can't explain why here...) -

It does get worse than that. Such as when you search for some bit of information. Up comes an informative post, page, article, something. Just what you're looking for. And then you realize you wrote it. (I've had this happen with material I wrote over 30 years ago... 😛 )- 26 replies

Target by threat level (Minion, Lt, Boss, EB, etc)
Shenanigunner replied to TheLeprechaun89's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
There are probably a number of challenges to the concept, but I don't think this is one of them, exactly. Mobs are already tagged at some level as Lieutenant, Boss, Elite Boss, etc. It's just a matter of adding a targeting keyword that would select them, perhaps along with a level keyword (probably just 0 to +3 rather than absolute). There may be huge pitfalls somewhere in the actual code implementation of this, but I don't see any need to change or add tags to existing foe types except for a very granular targeting system... and hey, that's what eyes and brains are for. 🙂 -
Target by threat level (Minion, Lt, Boss, EB, etc)
Shenanigunner replied to TheLeprechaun89's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Not a total solution, but here's a useful bind pair for on-the-fly targeting: CTRL+ADD "beginchat /bind ADD target_custom_next enemy alive " ADD "target_custom_next enemy alive" Tap Ctrl+NumPadPlus, and type the start of a target string, hit return. NumPadPlus now targets that string. Much simpler than creating and maintaining some large number of macros etc. ...IMVHO. -
This. I use a tear-off window with all "game" content - NPC, team, etc. Makes it much easier to separate what's in front of you with what's around you, so to speak.

See the Tech Guide for all you need, whether you do a full remap or just have a few preferences. Basically, from an alt you have set up the way you like, type /bindsave. Then for each new alt or one you want to make consistent, type /bindload. You can (and really should) make this alt-specific as well. You might also want to use (from that 'perfect' alt setup): /wdwsave /optionsave /chatsave And then on each other alt, use: /wdwload /optionload /chatload ...and you will do almost everything you prefer, and more, in a few steps. About the only thing that can't be saved/loaded is tray arrangements, which is a real bummer, especially after a respec complicated build. But all of this is in the Guide. Along with other useful knowledge.

No sh... ump.

Vitalize and Revive Ally have been somewhat erratic for me, but they show up sooner or later once I have the accolades. Passport is the frustrating one. It seems to take absolutely forever to get.

Got it. @Michiyo hates wikis. Try not to use the word around him, okay, folks?

Power graphics that made you shelve a character

But the ridiculous "poke 'em in the feet:" animation of Effective Strike or whatever just cries out for some emote text... -
Power graphics that made you shelve a character
Shenanigunner replied to Gentoo's topic in General Discussion
Just wanted to quote this for emphasis. There have been a bunch of complaints about annoying and excessive personal graphics in the last few days and I was going to post exactly this as a community reminder. In my case, I was tired of my screen going full Hell-0n-Wheels-title-sequence every time I went into squid mode. 300 feet might be excessive, as that means you'll NEVER see your alt's graphics. Maybe 30-50 feet is better, so when you're close in, you don't get blinded-out, but further back, you can see them. Players should experiment with the cancellation distance. You can also just use a slash command to set-and-forget your chosen distance and bind only to the on/off command. That would let you tweak the distance more easily.
